In 2024 you'd think more restaurants would cater to vegans. I have no idea if the owner reads these reviews but here are my suggestions: use WAY less salt in the rice. When making vegetarian burritos, consider at least a portion of beans equal to the portion of rice. Unfortunately, the portion of beans make them seem more like a condiment and this makes the burrito lack enough protein for vegetarians. Have you considered making Tofu Ranchero? It's a staple at many taquerias in SF. How about grilled vegetables? If these simple changes were made, I'd probably be eating there weekly since I live a few blocks away. I almost gave 2 stars but I don't want to hurt their business. I think with these improvements they could be 4 star. read more

The Birria tacos 6/10 the presentation was really pretty but the taste of the meat and consome were a bit bland. There was a bit too much cheese for my liking. Service: the staff was very friendly. We were happy to find this great spot for tasty tacos and burritos in Pacifica. The staff is friendly and suggested food that met my very strict (at that time) diet. I jealously watched my bestie eat her birria tacos, and even indulged in one small bite myself. The birria here is delicious! Otherwise I stuck with my limited option of a breakfast burrito w/just egg and cheese, which actually tasted quite yummy (and I was super hungry). I was very happy that the tortilla was fresh and the eggs were made-to-order. We ate on the sunny patio behind the restaurant, I think the patio is shared with the business next door. There was also lots of seating inside the taqueria. The restaurant is clean, and I want to mention again how friendly and kind the staff were. Wow. Just wow! We love finding new spots in Pacifica and we finally made our way to taqueria Pacifica. 10/10 bang for your buck, 10/10 flavors, and 10/10 speedy service. Let me be clear we are not knowledgeable about how Mexican food is supposed to taste. We went here because the reviews were good and ordered the birria tacos and also the chile relleno burrito. Both were delicious to us. We took out and brought it home and had it with margaritas. The birria was super juicy before we sauced the critters, and after we dipped it in the consommé, we then wanted to DRINK the consommé without dipping. The chile relleno in the burrito was stuffed with cheese and the whole thing was just perfectly balanced in terms of flavor- beans, rice, chile relleno, and soft tortilla in every bite. We live just few blocks from El Farolito and their burritos never made us feel this good in terms of eating experience. We had high hopes but this taqueria was disappointing to say the least. We ordered a simple meal of super nachos and a burrito. We waited almost 40 minutes for our small meal, when only 3-4 orders were ahead of us. Carne asada was bland. Nachos are basically sitting soggy in bean soup. Their "salsa" was watered down tomato sauce. The reason for such low rating is their nonexistent customer service. What was EXTREMELY annoying was that we had repeatedly asked the lady taking our orders FIVE times if she could clean the outside table for us (it was dirty, food speckled the table and used napkins everywhere and hello - COVID?) and she happily agreed. I said thanks! So we waited. And waited. And waited. 40 minutes passed and she didn't even bring our orders to us like she did with the other customers. She called our number and waited for us to pick it up. Our table? Left dirty and still unattended. You do know you can leave the cash register for a minute so you can care for customers that you so proudly boast your service about, right? I came here with my friend he's been coming here since the year 2000 when it was named Grano De Oro. They changed the name and remodeled it very clean and have outdoor seating in the back. The food was delicious. I had a super burrito with two kinds of meat, Al pastor and Carnitas. It was delicious the orange sauce is fire! I come here all the time with my stepdad, he's half-Mexican and he loves the place, like me. I'm not Mexican, but maybe I was in another life, because it's my favorite kind of food. I recently became Vegetarian, well, 2 years ago, and the nice thing about Mexican food is that there are still a lot of things for you to eat if you don't eat meat. A lot of places have given up using lard, including this one. Yay! So I'm good if I want to eat refried beans or cheese enchiladas, which are two of my favorite dishes. There's a difference between a Vegetarian and a Vegan. Vegans don't eat any animal products. Vegetarians still eat cheeses and other dairy products that can be produced without, well, killing animals. If anything had to die for me to eat it, I'm not touching it. I'm not much of a cook, so I was a year or two into being a Vegetarian before I found out from one of the Mexican restaurants that lard comes from animals, so I make it a point of asking now before I order my food. Happily, Taqueria Pacifica is lard-free! I also love the rice here, the flavor is wonderful, it's very tasty. The stewed Pinto Beans are awesome. It's really inexpensive to buy a medium or large tub of rice. I often buy a large tub of Pinto Beans to take home for 2 or three meals. It only costs $6 for a whole quart of them. If you like to eat them in a bowl like I do, be sure to ask for some extra liquid in the tub. I finally remembered to ask them do that last the last time that my stepdad and I went to get food. When I was eating them, I almost cried because they tasted just like the Pinto Beans that Mom used to make. We just lost her in December. I got my stepdad to try some, and we spent the rest of the meal talking about what a great cook she was and how much we missed her. I think that the name change was a really good move on their part because they are a different restaurant than the old place, and in my opinion, the best Mexican place in Pacifica. I asked about the verde and she said no more. 30 mins later all the salsa was out and they refilled one of the salsa but took a while because they do it on demand. Should have these salsa stocked for the day to refill. Felt like low staff - 3 guys 1 gal. Gal took food order and line was almost out the door. One of the guys brought the food. Since they are so short staffed busy fulfilling orders, no time to clean tables. Some customers they cant clean up after themselves leaves their dirty dishes on table and walks away when there is a cart where you just take the dishes to. Saw new patrons have to take other peoples dishes and clean up after themselves so they can use the table. read more

The restaurant came under new management during the pandemic, and they no longer cook my favorite type of meat - chile colorado (pork in red sauce). The quality went down noticeably after the old lady who'd been there for 30+ years gave the place up. It's still a pretty good little local taqueria, but I had to downgrade it to 4 stars from my original 5 due to this change in ownership and decline in quality. read more

We picked up tacos from here on a Sunday evening and enjoyed our meal! The food was tasty, the staff was friendly, and the food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time. My husband and I each had three tacos and found that a decent amount of food for a meal - we each got the following: 1) Chili verde taco - tender, delicious pork - our favorite! 2) Chicken taco - very flavorful 3) Shrimp taco - the shrimp tasted fresh and the portion was generous, but it was a bit lacking in seasoning The service was reasonably fast and friendly. We really appreciated the fact that they labeled the takeout box containing the tacos without onions "no onions" for clarity. The tacos held up well as takeout and were in good shape when we got home and ate them 45 minutes later. The microwaveable takeout containers were helpful and convenient. I have been ordering food at this location since it was El Grano de Oro. I was at first skeptical about new ownership because I loved the ladies and cooks from the El Grano days. I would like to say KUDOS to this new ownership for persevering through 2 years of COVID and having to build a new reputation on top of that.
