This were the tacos, and as you can see the pineapple is not cooked and the meat is dry.
Yivirk M.

I visited this location on Thursday, May 21, 2026 around 5:45 pm, the restaurant was really busy which is a good sign always for a taqueria, they have a pretty decent menu and it looked pretty clean. The cashier was nice and friendly, ordered a decent amount of tacos to try out and the two different salsa's they have. The pastor tacos are okay, it tasted like "chorizo" nothing out of the ordinary, the meat was kinda dry to be pastor and they add pineapple on top if you ask for, I didn't like the fact that the pineapple it's not cooked so as we know the flavor was kinda sweet on a taco and personally I don't like it. The cabeza was really overcooked and that specific day was salty, very salty, but once again this is a personal review and was my first time there, the Jamaica was okay. I would probably go back again another time just to give it a try again and I will review them one more time.

Trompo burrito. 100% recommended!

If you're looking for authentic taco place, look no further because this place will satisfy your tummy and will leave you smiling while walking out the door. I'm soooo glad I found this on Google. very good food, very good service. the place seems to be always busy all throughout the day which is a very good sign that they serve delicious food. I got the trompo burrito while my bf ordered lengua burrito for himself and oh lowwwd, it's packed with flavors, the layers are beautifully done, the portion is great! I'm out of words! we are definitely coming back asap!

El pastor with fresh pineapple, shrimp, and beef with sausage tacos. The shrimp and the el pastor with fresh pineapple were our favorites!

My son did extensive research on the top taco joints in Phoenix. We went to five places and this was by far our favorite! The shrimp tacos and e Astor with fresh pineapple were slapping! 10/10!

Best tacos al pastor you can find. You see the trompo as you walk in. Many other meats available, carne asada being my second favorite. The staff are super friendly. Yes this place can get packed, so make sure you order ahead for pick up, or wait patiently. Feel like you're in Mexico!

I'm always hunting for places that do El Trompo (see pics if you dont know what el trompo is). Places like this are rare and hard to find. This restaurant feels very similar to places in Mexico where I first was turned on to authentic al pastor. Very little English spoken here between staff and customers which is a plus in my book when you want authentic. They didn't have a pineapple on top dripping on the meat but they did put pineapple in the tacos and I do like places better when they let the pork carmelize and crisp up more before carving it off. Here they carve it off earlier and finish on the griddle, BUT I am just glad to see another place doing al pastor the right way. 5 stars I will be back.

Two Al pastor and one asada con todo ALV! I wish the pineapple was grilled but fat bastard still eats.

Sit down taco place. Old school dining area - which I dig. Service was swift. Great prices. Fat bastard stamp of approval.

Really good little hole in the wall. The carne asada and pollo tacos were just ok but their specialty, the al pastor en el trompo was delicious. I would gladly get 5-6 of them next time! Salsas and fixings on point, as well as the service!

It's pretty good Mexican food. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't know what else to say. Try the Al Pastor tacos.

A family member recommended this place for their pastor tacos so we had to stop by. We went on a Friday evening and it was very busy which is a great sign for a good place. We were excited to try their pastor tacos which were topped with fresh pineapple. They were pretty good. I also ordered the asada tacos but the meat quality was not the best. What really stood out here was the chicken flautas. They were amazing and the reason I will be back.

This place is always great! Today I came to get the deal with three Al Pastor Tacos and drink. It was a great deal for less than $10.00.

There isn't any indoor seating, so this is more of a grab-your-ice-cream-and-go kind of place. After being out in the Arizona heat all day, we didn't mind one bit! My friend got a scoop of peanut butter pecan in a pretzel cone, which I thought was such a unique combination. She said it was really tasty, and I have to admit the pretzel cone definitely caught my attention. My daughter went with peanut butter ice cream in a waffle cone. The waffle cones are made homemade right there, and they also make their cookies in-house, which made everything feel extra special. I ordered a salted caramel sundae with butter pecan ice cream, and let me tell you--it was amazing! It was the perfect combination of sweet, salty, and creamy. My sundae also came with a cookie, so of course I had to try it, and it was so good. You could definitely tell it was freshly made. After spending the day exploring Arizona in the heat, ice cream was exactly what we needed. Churn was the perfect way to cool down and end our day on a sweet note!

What a great custom menu with lots of creative choices for ice-cream, ice-cream sandwiches, shake and floats, coffee and coffee desserts. Custom rotating flavors that we tried and sampled as we decided. Love how there's a secret back entrance to the ice cream parlor from Windsor Cocktail Bar next door. This is part of a cluster of good restaurants of different types along Central Avenue in Uptown. Parking available right in front of the entrance as well as around back in a private parking lot. I was so tempted by several items on the menu, but since I had just had a large lunch, I chose to try a single scoop of the Vietnamese coffee ice cream. So delicious and I loved the tiny specks of coffee. Hubs got a double scoop of strawberry ice cream, and my son got a strawberry shake. We all really enjoyed the interior and decor of the ice cream shop and the high-quality and good flavors of the ice cream. Service is really great here. The ladies were really working hard and going as fast as they could, and it didn't look easy scooping the large scoops of frozen hard ice cream. There was a line out the door on the Saturday afternoon that we showed up that moved quickly.

My friends and I stopped in for dessert around 8pm on a Tuesday, and it wasn't very busy. There were a few different seating areas inside and some outside too. Ultimately this doesn't matter to me as I just want the ice cream. Today I was on my way to work and decided to treat myself to a coffee. Knowing that they're vegan, I thought non-dairy milk would be included. Nowhere was I able to find which milk was included in the price- so I asked for oat milk. I was charged NINTEY CENTS (.90) for an upcharge. Rather than saying oh it comes with soy milk, or hey it's a .90 cent upcharge, the barista just added it on no questions asked. I had reviewed the menu online and in the extras it does not include oat milk, which is why I assumed it came with it. My coffee ultimately came out to $9.16. What a joke. I will definitely not be coming back here for anything besides ice cream from here on out and even that is a hard maybe. I wish more places had pricing integrity- their website doesn't reflect it and neither did the barista. *edit to add the coffee is extremely sweet and milky, tastes more like sweet milk than a latte :(

Absolute bliss is all I can say about it. Doesn't break the bank, but definitely breaks my standards of dessert places on Phoenix now because of how great Novel is. On-top of the unique flavors that are changing alongside the many ways of customizing your scoop, the staff were very friendly from start to finish. The people working there seemed like they didn't care -- but they were kids working at a job where the ice cream probably dyes your hands blue and the donut smell probably makes you gag after a while -- so I get it! It is a fun concept and I love this cute little area of downtown PHX. I would come back and try a different combo -- but only when I am so hungry (not after dinner, LOL)

A Nostalgic, Must-Visit Dessert Destination in Old Town Scottsdale…read more Our party of six visited the Sugar Bowl for dessert following a friend's birthday dinner. Upon our arrival, we were accommodated immediately and seated without any delay. The parlor features a wonderful, nostalgic aesthetic reminiscent of the late 1900s. Its menu is remarkably expansive, offering an impressive variety of options that goes well beyond what one might typically expect from a traditional dessert establishment. The service we received was patient and polite. While one of our table's orders was initially overlooked, the staff corrected the mistake instantly as soon as we brought it to our server's attention. As the name implies, the menu leans heavily into decadent, sweet treats; those looking for lighter or tart options like yogurt variations will find limited choices, but the indulgent selections are perfect for traditional dessert lovers. The surrounding neighborhood adds significantly to the appeal, offering an excellent Old Town atmosphere filled with art galleries, historic shops, and artifacts. If you are visiting the nearby Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA), enjoying dinner in the area, or simply taking an evening walk, I highly recommend stopping by the Sugar Bowl for its unique historical charm and experience.
