I do miss their buffet . But it never ever disappoints and they have always been good to do business with ! Money in exchange for Good Food ! Those little clay pot drink mugs with whatever's in them are delicious! Cantarita I thinks they are called. read more

Came in to town for the night while driving back home. This was the only local place open on Sunday evening. We were not disappointed. I had the ribeye and the only thing I can say is WOW. It was huge and came with sides of rice beans guacamole pica etc. if you eat the whole steak no way will you finish the sides. My husband had carne guisada which was delicious tender and full of flavor. The tortillas are homemade. My son had the chicken enchiladas which were also a large portion and very tasty. Don't miss this gem in Dumas. read more

This was my first time to eat at Taqueria El Tapatio and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered # 40 on the menu, man was it filling and very tasty. They have zero effort out towards COVID safety. No one, I mean no one was wearing a mask. No wait staff, no one in the kitchen. So, be aware. The food is excellent. read more

Got over charged when we went to talk to the old man up at front he made a comment about we were the first to ask him about our receipt so look over your bill otherwise your getting overcharged read more

We found them by accident. Looking for gluten free options and McDonald's was going to be our fall-back. McMuffin with no muffin. ‍ But line was ridiculous. Planned on the grocery store next door for a bowl of fruit for the daughters. This little Mexican restaurant was unassuming and I poked my head in to check. The manager was awesome. Ordered several breakfast items that were gluten free. Food was EXCELLENT! Service was too. I'd highly recommend and we will make this a regular stop when passing through. read more

I will start by saying I grew up eating at taco stands on the border of Mexico... and in Mexico.. I've had my fair share of great (and not so great) Mexican food. Ate here for a late lunch on 9/17/20. Restaurant was dirty. Food and paper on the floor. I figured it was maybe because of the earlier lunch rush. Food was okay, nothing spectacular. Went to the restroom and that's when the filth really set in. Toilet paper filled the trash can in the corner (used nasty poop toilet paper). I witnessed roaches on the bathroom walls and floor. There were definitely enough employees standing around that someone could have started cleaning. I don't recommend this place! read more

Food was bland, dry, overpriced, and different temperature. The waitress was the same, and she blatantly ignored us. Next time we pass through, we'll be sure to avoid! we recommend you doing the same. read more

Overpriced. Poor customer service. 3 meals plus queso was $40. The extra quest and salsa did not come with extra chips unless you ask. The bag included was much too small. And they forgot to add one of my meals to the order. So when I came all the way back to the restaurant to show them, I was forced to bring all my food back inside the restaurant (even though the cashier recognizes me as I come in because I was here 5 minutes ago). I left it in the car because I had unpacked it all to check it in the parking lot. Plus there was disgusting music videos on the bar tv showing surgery. Gross. read more

El Tapatio is a popular, family-friendly restaurant. It is typically crowded at lunch and dinner times. Prices are very competitive. The menu is extensive, with breakfast , children's menu, seafood, combinations and a la carte items. The chips and salsa are good but not exceptional. There are also a spicy salsa verde and a medium chipotle salsa available on request. read more

My parents and I ate dinner here and it was the most delicious food we had in awhile! I had a plate with cactus on it and was cooked like my grandmother cooked it back in the day and I had plenty to spare. My parents and I normally don't take home leftovers but we did this time and ate them the next day and they still had a great favor. If your ever in Dumas? Stop by there and you will love it! read more

Tasteless is the best thing I can say about our dinner! I asked the desk clerk at our hotel for a recommendation when she crinkled her nose when I asked about The Plaza where we ate last time we were passing through. So I went with her recommendation...and truly regret it! Next time I will go to The Plaza! read more

I stopped at El Tapatio because it has a 3.5 rating! There is no way! I ordered the caldo 7 mares Horrible the server just dropped it at my table never came back to check on me! The caldo had a few shrimp and one piece of fish the bowl was full of vegetables it tasted like plain water ! Do not eat here! read more

Picked up dinner from El Tapitio tonight. Service was great. Food was authentic and absolutely delicious! I'll be back! Thanks to Oscar at Red Roof Inn for recommending. read more

It's been less than a year since I came to El Tapatio. Unfortunately this place has gone down hill since. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, their food is now on the same level as a cheap hole in the wall greasy Mexican/Tex-Mex garbage. The other day my tortillas were slathered in oil, it tasted like vegetable oil. This morning my carne asada tacos were nothing but gristle and torn corn tortillas. This evening, my menudo was as bland as card board and I had more posole than tripas. Needless to say that after I post this, I will not be returning to El Tapatio on my own accord. I am very disappointed and saddened by El Tapatio's decline. read more

I'm giving them 1 star because the food was pretty good. The service absolutely sucked! After the waitress brought our food she never came back. We each wanted a margarita and tried to get her attention and she didn't even look our way. My husband ordered fajitas and received 2 flour shells. He ended up eating everything with a fork. She didn't even bring our check. I finally had to walk up and tell the girl at the register where we were sitting so we could pay. And probably the worst part is that I had to watch her in the kitchen fixing her hair twice. She had a mirror propped up fixing her hair in a bun and then coming out waiting on people. Yuck read more

They have great meals, each time I stop in I try something different that's on the menu and have never been disappointed, the waitress are always cheerful and the prices fair. read more

Me and my girlfriend were eating, I was having the buffet and she was having a bean burrito. The food was okay until we experienced a cockroach crawling on the window beside us. It was utterly disgusting and I will never go there again. The scary thing was that the place we were sitting was not far from the buffet, so there is no doubt that the cockroach problem hasn't touched the food. Disgusting. read more

I ordered the supreme quesadilla with fajita chicken and it was (no exaggeration) the BEST quesadilla (and maybe best Mexican food ever?) I've had and I'm from New Mexico and eat Mexican/new Mexican food all the time! 100% would recommend and will be going back every chance I get! Their red salsa was also to die for!! read more

Brought the family... Everyone enjoyed... I am a fan of homemade lemonade... They had it (albeit sans the pulp)... Chicken Enchiladas with tomatillo sauce were good.. Guisa de Res was temder and flavorful... Daughter thought chimichanga was delicious.. Wife loved her enchiladas, but found quesadilla was greasy... Server was friendly but took about 5 min to arrive to table... Also after we finished, server did not return (even though it was clear that we were done)... My wife pointed out that the server was sitting down watching tv... I would definitely recommend, but don't be in too much of a hurry... read more

Very good place to sitdown and have a good lunch or dinner..food portions big and tasty..highly recommend it:)

Excellent Mexican food! Quick and Inexpensive. The Best Carna Asiada I have ever had! Accompanied with sauté cactus and onions that were sooo good! It will always be a stop for us as we travel across Texas! read more

Ranchero beef - cubed & shredded beef simmered in ranchero chili - is absolutely to die for. Guacamole perfect. Pico de gallo fresh to the point of being crunchy; so good I ate it like a vegetable. Guessed it was going to be good when 70% of diners were Hispanic, and the TVs were showing telenovelas. No "atmosphere," but who cares. Fantastic food! read more

Disgusting food, worse service and charged my card twice. They are desperate for business/money. Had to call my bank to dispute the double-charge. read more

I'm not sure how it's possible but they removed all of the taste from everything. Had carne asada and it tasted like, well I'm not sure but it wasn't beef. The margarita tasted like old mix with very little alcohol. The sopapillas had a drizzle of what appeared to be very old chocolate sauce, and were chewy like they had been in the microwave. More roaches than I could count scurried past my table which actually were more attentive than the Wait staff. Not good at all and after reading the glowing reviews I wonder what has happened because the place I ate did not resemble any of the positive reviews. On the return trip home we completely avoided dumas as I didn't want to suffer a ptsd event driving past this eatery. read more

Food is average tasty status. The last couple of times I ate here, there is a strange taste in the beef that I don't care for. I don't know where they get their meat supplied from. Maybe it is a private farmer, but whatever the source, I choose not to eat the crane asada tacos and beef fajitas anymore. That's unfortunate, because it used to taste pretty good. Menudo is average tasting. This restaurant is not on my list of favorites any more. Oh yeah, I forgot to add that the service was absolutely slow and terrible the last few times my family and I are there. read more

My staff and I had lunch here on 08/08/16 and it was surprisingly very good. We arrived around noon for lunch and the place was practically empty. I thought that we might find that the food was of poor quality. Just the opposite! It was great and OMG, in such huge amounts. One order can feed 3 people! I ordered the fajitas for one and it was so big it could have fed 3 people alone. It was great and the corn tortillas were fantastic. Service was great as well. The restaurant is located in a strip shopping center, but it's easy to find. Plenty of free parking. read more

Great family place. No alcohol. Best salsa that I have had in a restaurant. Try the tongue tacos. Very good!

Found this little gem on a trip through town. The margaritas were so-so. But the salsa was fantastic, it had a nice bite to it, and a balanced flavor! We had the Biztec steak platter! It was great as well! And best of all the tortillas appeared to be homemade and tastes great! A must stop if you are passing through! read more
