Excellent variety of salsa and a very crispy Diet Coke. They also had some good bottled beer available. The rice and beans were good. The salsa was excellent. The beef enchilada was good. The ultimate burrito was bigger than your head and at least two meals. Delicious.

The Old Town Mexican Cafe was a nice surprise. Quaint very clean and comfortable is how I'd describe it. Oh yes, and with amazing food. The main cook Pedro, was an artist at preparation and efficiency. His food was delicious and portions were large. The manager Desiree couldn't have been nicer and more helpful during my shoot. She runs the operation and you can tell she knows what she is doing. Also helpful and pleasant was Terry her #2. Located in Orcutt, a suburb just south of Santa Maria, if you're traveling or around the Santa Maria area be sure to stop in for a meal you won't forget. They open around 9am and it's street level, easy access and kid friendly. Plenty of parking too. Don't forget to get slice of Desiree's home made Flan. It's the best I've ever tasted. I'd go out of my way just for that amazing Flan. Stop in at The Old Town Mexican Cafe, you'll thank me.

Tomato flavor forward. Ask for the spicy one and that's just one kick up. My taquitos were good. The beans and rice were just ok and I only ate half. My husband ordered two tacos. While the chicken tamales were good, our experience with the chile relleno was beyond disappointing. While eating, we found two long brown hairs in two separate tamales from that dozen. We were so disgusted that we had to throw the entire dozen away. For several days, we felt sick just thinking about it. These tamales are quite expensive, and for that price, you expect basic food safety and hygiene protocols to be followed. Finding someone's hair in your mouth is unacceptable. I really hope the business looks into their kitchen protocols, as we will not be returning.
