This is a packed, bustling place for dinner, even with its large dining room and sidewalk seating…read more Make reservations! Then, allow the friendly staff to bring as many items from the menu as you can handle. Come with a group so you can share. An absolute must is the whole fish done à la Contramar, one side of the split fish coated in a punchy parsley sauce and the other in a red adobo rub. Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from. Definitely a place to visit when in Mexico City. Sorry for the lack of photos-- we forgot because we dove into each dish (we were hungry and they looked so good)! Got one good one though...

After five days in Mexico City, this was hands-down the best taco spot I tried. Taquería Orinoco…read morehad been on my list for days, but the line was always long and now I understand why. This time there were about 10 people waiting and I finally decided it was worth it... and it absolutely was. The tacos were incredible, the service was fast, and they bring out 5-6 different sauces so you can try different flavors with everything. I sat outside, which made the experience even better great people-watching, amazing energy, and everyone walking by looked effortlessly stylish. Mexico City really is such a trendy, vibrant city. Honestly, I still think about these tacos. I could close my eyes and dream about this place.

They recommend getting one of each suelto: trompo, res, and chicharron, so that's what I did!…read more I got it without the queso fresco & all on flour tortillas. Full disclaimer: these are my first tacos in Mexico City. The trumpo was really good!! Highly recommend! The res was good too, but not super standout. The chicharron itself was really good, but I don't know if I love it in a taco. The trumpo with the pineapple really stole the show. It's nice that the 3 tacos come with some potatoes. The potatoes were good! It seemed smashed then fried. Can't go wrong with frying potatoes. Food came out fast! It seems like this place can get super packed and busy, which I would think is a good sign!

Listen to this: I need more Latin cuisine practice. Estoy practicando hablar en español... but…read morethat's as far as I get. I love to try new foods and attempt the local language wherever I go... but still it's impossible to mask dumb: I ordered a delicious bowl of Eggs in Xalapa style tomato broth. It arrived but they brought tortillas.... Ok... maybe I should take the (what appeared to be) scrambled eggs out of the broth and into the tortillas? Maybe add some beans and salsa too? No, of course you cannot make tacos out of soup-- idiota!!!! I had to laugh at myself and only one passing server gave me the Rock's stanky eyebrow as broth squirted everywhere! This place is absolutely stunning. The views by the window, the food presentation, the artwork and decor inside and out: I loved it all. It was especially nice that this whole Palanco area is basically one big green park. Again, my Spanish isn't great and I need much more practice but the waitress and the management were so kind and supportive. I would definitely recommend this place for a solo adventurer but it's quaint and yummy enough for a nice group dinner.

The only good meal I had in Mexico City…read more Living in San Diego and visiting Tijuana for food quite often, I guess I'm used to above average restaurant experiences. I would've thought Mexico City had great food in general, but that wasn't the case. Was there for four days, ate many meals out and this was the only one I really enjoyed. Too bad the place was so hot and stuffy. It was cooler outside than it was inside. All they needed to do was open some windows. Service was great though.
