Picturesque river views on both side, with lots of trees, wildlife and waterfront views. There are lots of benches, ample parking and rest room at the end of the mile stretch. This park is perfect for quiet walks, bird watching, walking your dogs or just to spend time in nature. I highly recommend a visit if you are around the area

His vision was of a theatrical, magnificent landscape blending Indo-Persian, ancient Greek, Roman, and Italian Renaissance designs. When I was last here in 2013, the Untermyer gardens looked sadly desolate and neglected. Today, the gardens have been restored to their true remarkable glory thanks 100% to generous donations in the millions. We could not have chosen a more perfect day to visit the celebrated historical Untermyer Gardens overlooking the Hudson on this glorious Labor Day Monday. I took many photos which do not do justice to the gorgeous scope and details of the beautiful manicured 43 acres. ***Open 7AM to 7PM - seasonally.*** There's more information on their website and QR codes at the entrance with rules to respect the environment. Good job! **Get there early.** We went at 8:30AM. By the time we were leaving at 11AM the park was packed and parking impossible. Thank you so much for reading.

The grounds are…read morealways stunning, but they're especially spectacular in September when everything is in full bloom and the gardens are filled with vibrant colors. Admission is completely free, although donations are accepted to help preserve this incredible place--which is amazing considering how well maintained it is. It's the perfect destination to spend about two hours, whether you want to enjoy a peaceful stroll, take plenty of photos, or do a little of both. The breathtaking views of the Hudson River and the Palisades make the visit even more memorable. There's also plenty of free parking, which makes getting there easy. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that it can get fairly crowded on beautiful weekends, but it's absolutely worth visiting and returning to throughout the year.

We are both a part of Lessing Lodge 608, which is a member of an umbrella organization that owns the park and the now defunct nursing home across the street. So I may be a little biased when reviewing this place. Across the street was a nursing home for many years, then it was a college dorm, now sadly its falling apart. So this review will be for the active park side. During the winter months, this park is closed, but come late spring to warmish fall, this place is hopping! It gets rented out most weekends to anyone looking to use the park. The park itself hosts its annual Traubenfest the first weekend every Oktober. The individual lodges that make up the umbrella organization "own" the little booths/pavilions scattered throughout. They are responsible for the maintenance of them. All in all a very unique location! It is a great spot to have a large picnic or party with thousands of people.

Beers are typically about $6 per cup (about 12 ounces) but you can bring your own been stein and they'll fill it to the brim for a slightly higher cost. There is no exchange of money with the vendors at this event - you have to purchase tickets at the entryway which double as cash. The cool thing is that if you under-spend, you can get your money back. The local police do a nice job of facilitating the parking situation and everyone is in a genuinely good mood. There is dancing and entertainment for the adults, with a bouncy house and blow-up slide for the kiddies (not free of charge...my friend learned that the hard way...her son owned the ticket lady about $10 for repeated slide rides). Ooooh...he was fresh! Too bad they don't do this every weekend in the fall.

Parking is pretty easy and in a few spots. As other notes, no bathroom here which is the biggest issue. Otherwise with how accessible this is, it's a gem.

Beginning Friday, June 5: Beach Pavilion Restrooms are open to beach users and will remain open daily during regular beach hours (9am-5pm). All other Harbor Island Park restrooms remain closed. Two (2) portable restrooms remain available for the public to use: one located in the East Basin and one located in the West Basin. These portable restrooms are cleaned and sanitized twice daily: once in the morning and once in the late afternoon. Please note the following guidelines: No more than two (2) individuals or one (1) family are allowed in the beach restroom area at any given time. Beach restrooms will be open to beach users/staff only. Face masks are required while in the beach restroom areas. Indoor shower facilities will remain closed. The Spray Ground is closed until further notice. The beach will be open to VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK RESIDENTS ONLY between 9:00am and 1:00pm.
