I saw that there was a nice pond in the middle (great for photos) as well as some walking trails and a few tennis courts. We just happened to have our balls and rackets in the car so this was a bonus. We arrived and were surprised to see that on a nice sunny mid-afternoon Saturday, the place was practically empty. We first drove around the loop looking for what was available. We found the gated tennis courts (3 Courts) that were empty. We went in and knocked around a few balls for about half hours before we decided to walk further around the park. We saw a father and son (presumably) that were fishing which was nice to see. There was a large gazebo in the park as well, which could possibly be rented for occasions. (I know many parks have that option) We snapped some photos around the pond which came out great but be mindful that as with every pond, there are lots of bugs lurking. So don't forget the bug spray. The park was very well kept, I was impressed. There were a few trails that presumably lead to the eastern end of the park but we did not take them...maybe next time. Overall we had a great time at this park. A nice place to play tennis, walk, run or fish?! (I am not sure if a license is required). Enjoy!

It used to go across Liberty Avenue all the way to Cottage Place and further to the High School. A very large tract of woods in the 50's.

The path that goes around the park is great for walkers and bikers. It's always nice and busy, but not over crowded. The dog park is also very nice. Two sides for big and small dogs. Nice benches and there is water on site for the dogs. Only caution is that on the big dog side their are sticker bushes in the left corner that get stuck in dogs with long fur.

This is a wonderful place to bring the whole family. They have about 12 different trails, all…read moreseparated in different levels of difficulty. The trails are free to enter but they do request for volunteer donation for non members. Different tiers of annul membership available to purchase at main office that comes with some wonderful perks, such as free access to trails and special events. The main office also has some of the exhibition items like insect box and turtle box. Outside the office there's also bird and butterfly cages. We went to the center for our daughter to participate in butterfly feeding event. Upon arrival we found out we had to buy the tickets for one of the two scheduled events. Luckily there were slots available to the second event on the day. The ticket was reasonably cheap, only $8. It also came with an additional bird's exhibition that took place right in front of office deck. All the stuff members were very friendly, informative and interactive. We spent wonderful couple of hours here on beautiful warm summer day.

My home away from home! My family and I have been coming here since before I was born…read more To add a little context to that, I am a Freemason in the state of NY. So was my maternal grandfather. We are both a part of Lessing Lodge 608, which is a member of an umbrella organization that owns the park and the now defunct nursing home across the street. So I may be a little biased when reviewing this place. Across the street was a nursing home for many years, then it was a college dorm, now sadly its falling apart. So this review will be for the active park side. During the winter months, this park is closed, but come late spring to warmish fall, this place is hopping! It gets rented out most weekends to anyone looking to use the park. The park itself hosts its annual Traubenfest the first weekend every Oktober. The individual lodges that make up the umbrella organization "own" the little booths/pavilions scattered throughout. They are responsible for the maintenance of them. All in all a very unique location! It is a great spot to have a large picnic or party with thousands of people.

This is a great event filled with German cuisine (bratwurst, potato pancakes, etc.,) and let's not forget tons of beer. Beers are typically about $6 per cup (about 12 ounces) but you can bring your own been stein and they'll fill it to the brim for a slightly higher cost. There is no exchange of money with the vendors at this event - you have to purchase tickets at the entryway which double as cash. The cool thing is that if you under-spend, you can get your money back. The local police do a nice job of facilitating the parking situation and everyone is in a genuinely good mood. There is dancing and entertainment for the adults, with a bouncy house and blow-up slide for the kiddies (not free of charge...my friend learned that the hard way...her son owned the ticket lady about $10 for repeated slide rides). Ooooh...he was fresh! Too bad they don't do this every weekend in the fall.
