The Dragon's Nest hash browns with eggs bacon and sausage mixed in with veggies. Had the two mornings in a row.

Anthony covers the lodge well in his review and I agree completely with his sentiments. I would like to add a shout out for breakfast in the dining room. Jasmine served us and Ethan prepared an excellent start to our day. Coffee is great and the breakfast is absolutely yummy. Since we visited in the off season things were very low key. But the food is worth the trip.

Historic lodging at the edge of the Cheoah river. It was the executive lodge of the Alcoa company in its heydays, and now a charming and upscale resort for the well-heeled. The lodge rooms ae spacious, have a rustic vibe but with touch of luxury in the bath products used, and plush bath robes provided. On-site spa services are available. Families with children are restricted to the outside cabins only(albeit very well appointed ones). One drawback with rooms in the lodge is that it could be a little noisy as the bar/lounge is a popular gathering spot in the evening. The Tapoco Tavern provides great food featuring local ingredients. We had a fantasic smoked trout, and their pizzas are delicious. Guests can enjoy outdoor dining with river views on a long patio overlooking the river. There are also many Adirondack chairs set up along the river for guests to enjoy. The breakfast room inside the lodge is cozy with all wooden furniture and has a winery vibe. It serves as a game room outside of breakfast hours. We enjoyed the self-service coffee/tea station and there is also hot cider available all day. The resort is on 123 acres, so there are many recreational trails surrounding the property.

What a great meal, Maddie was our waitress and she did an awesome amazing job. The food is great, wonderful. The atmosphere is amazing sitting out by the river nothing more relaxing. I recommend this as a stop is traveling the dragons tail.

It was a great time and the white oak suite. We stayed in the White Oak cabin one they had lots of room, beautiful scenery, all around and super cozy inside.

A spectacular view of whitewater kayakers passing by.

This review is for the restaurant only. My wife and I stopped in on a scenic drive through the area. It was busy, but we were still able to get a table for two outside right on the raging Cheaoha River. It was an absolutely beautiful spot to enjoy lunch. Our server, Memory (Yes, that's her name!), was lovely. She was polite, friendly, welcoming and attentive. I tried getting a NC Pilsner, but they were out, so I settled on a NC Lager instead. It was very good. We shared a Tavern Burger (with cheddar cheese) and fries. The burger was perfectly cooked to medium, as requested. It's a daily large burger, so there was no problem sharing. I lked the big thick cut seasoned fries too. Overall, a great place to eat. We would definitely return (if I ever make the mistake of driving my Ford Ranger on the 'Tail of the Dragon' on a Saturday again!)

We had lovely stay and sooo glad we finally stayed here. It was a great spot to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was hard to find rooms available during the weekend, but the Laurel Suite (has a jet tub) was available on my husband's birthday (was on a weekday this year) so we booked it ASAP. We booked it two months ahead to guarantee a reservation for the occasion. The only bad thing was that it was raining and we didn't get to enjoy the bonfires at night. We will have to visit again to experience that. Tapoco Lodge is perfect for everyone! There are activities for everyone...trails, tennis courts, rocking chairs for lounging, and lots of others. Come here and enjoy the view!

Wow What a great week at Tapoco as they hosted our 5th Annual Lexus Performance Rally. #FtheDragon Event. Shout our to Dave at rhe front desk and Jasmine at Breakfast time for steller service and hospitality. Even as the whole area lost power in a storm late Saturday eve, management and staff stayed late to keep us comfortable. See ya next year!!! Rick Jones and the Lexus F Community

The ambiance and views were spectacular and that alone deserves the 4 stars. You should definitely go during the evening to enjoy the nightlights, the sounds of the flowing creek below and the fire pits throughout. I ordered the Campfire Carolina Mountain Trout which would have been delicious but a little too salty for my taste. We also ordered the trout nuggets and they were pretty good. Overall, great experience and I'll definitely recommend and return when visiting.

Front on the Lodge from the road.

Josh checked us in! Such a wonderful man! Tori took care of our need at dinner. What a great employee. Dylan was wonderful, he attended by picking up dishes to keep our table cleared. Jessica- such a wonderful bartender! We created a new Tapoco Vice! Dalton spoke to us each day! I could name so many others! My point is- they become part of your family! I adore this place!

Right from the start we were greeted by Rosa who immediately made us feel right at home with her warmth and humor. Chef Andrew is an incredible talent. Everything was just extraordinarily delicious! We started with a very yummy chili with cornbread followed by the best pork belly we have had with a yummy almond butter sauce (lord!!) and then finished it off with perfectly cooked flatiron steaks with yummy cowboy butter! Oh and Chef even brought us some crispy cilantro rice that was also just a masterpiece of flavors. I don't know how many times I stopped during our meal to exclaim "this is SO GOOD" ....but it was many. That was the food- the people and service were as if not more impressive. Taz, the innkeeper who served us was incredibly kind and friendly and even brought us a complimentary champagne toast, which was so nice and appreciated! Again Rosa was hilarious and so sweet to us and then we met Shannon who brought us our desserts at the end of our meal and also made us feel like old friends. It was so over the top good that I feel we will be forever spoiled! We definitely will be coming back to stay. Many thanks again

The front desk girls were so sweet, welcoming, and ready to take care of whatever we needed and the Innkeeper/GM, Taz, wow! She seems to do it all and does it with such grace and kindness and pays attention to every guest - no matter how busy. We enjoyed speaking with her and learning the history of this little tucked away find. And what a find! What a location! Magnificent views and so peaceful, yet so many things you can do - especially nothing at all! Exploring was so much fun! They have an age limit of 13 years so keep that in mind if you have kiddos but what an escape and needed respite for us. They make fresh baked cookies in the morning - so delicious. Service overall was impeccable and we felt well cared for. Even better than warming up by the gorgeous fire and having our cocktails hand delivered was the food. The Chef most definitely has talent and the quail was perfection - also such creative presentation of his dishes! Who knew 5-star quality dining was waiting for us in such a perfectly remote location. It is so gorgeous up here as the weather turns cooler but we will definitely have to come back in the summer to take advantage of the water activities. We met beautiful people during our stay and if the fact couples make it a point to keep coming back years later doesn't speak to you about how special this place is, maybe the fact that you will witness hospitality at its finest and truly hard-working human beings who not only serve up an amazing experience but true kindness. And in this world we're living in, this is a welcome refreshment. Many thanks to the entire team, Taz and Chef Andrew! We've come away with priceless memories and a more refined palette! Plans are already in the works to visit again soon!

We got a cabin with a king and 2 queens. We are local so we came around lunch to use the pool before check in. When the cabin was ready we quickly unloaded everything. We noticed a few things like the rusted out bottom of the front door and rips in the kitchen floor. We knew booking that it was dated, I'm fine with dated but not ok with dirty. We spent the rest of the day at the pool. When we got back to the cabin that evening to make dinner (because wow the up-charges rival Disney level $) we noticed ants on the countertops. Called the front desk and they sent someone up to spray. The whole place furniture and floors were sticky. When my daughter went to get in bed the sheets were dirty, hair and dirt in the made bed. I checked the king and something. So at 10pm we went to the front to get clean sheets for all the beds. I found it odd that not a single bed had a mattress protector. Wake up in the morning and the ants are everywhere. Any of the food that had been opened and secured again (like chips, mini donuts, and buns) had ants in it. So we went to the front desk, they moved us to a new cabin. I found the front desk and the staff very helpful. We loved the village atmosphere and this place has sooo much potential. We were really hoping to have t a great experience especially since booking the cabin for 2 nights was $777 and some change. Not a cheap stay! I feel like they have totally overshot their price mark. Once again I'm fine with dated..not ok with dirty. Cabin 1050 needs to be retired. I hope someone actually reads these reviews and does something about it. Like I said before we are local and will probably still come back for a day or night just because it is such a cool atmosphere.
