I am or was going to be a first-time customer of Taper's this week. I called the shop on Tuesday afternoon to book an appointment for Wednesday morning. Employee who answered the phone said shop would be open at 8am so I schedule my cut for 9am. When I asked which barber I should ask for when I arrive, the employee said he couldn't say at the moment but someone would I definitely be there by 9am to give me a cut. Unfortunately, when I called at 8:45am and when I arrived at 9am on Wednesday, there were no employees to be found. I even waited in the parking until 9:20am just to be safe but still no one showed. First time patron, booked a week in advanced because I had an important event to attend and limited time before. 2 pm on a Monday, he can't do earlier because he's got another appointment. When I show up to my appointment 10 min early only 2 chairs are available and the barber I scheduled with was nowhere to be seen. Call him up and he said he headed out to get food. I wait an hour, still nothing. Eventually I had to let anyone with an open chair give me a cut. At first glance it was passable, but after some time at home I found the fade was uneven and went to bald way too fast. The back was uneven. I had cuts in my head where the barber dig into my hairline. The other guys around the shop seemed cool, talented, and friendly, but my experience was terrible. Another review had the same issue, there's no point to scheduling because if the barber forgets, it's done and the business seems to have no other scheduling system to assist them. Love this barber shop!! It can be a bit intimidating to go into a barber shop as a female but my girlfriend wanted a quality undercut and so we tried this shop. When we walked in we immediately felt like one of guys per se. The barbers welcomed us and began laughing and joking with us. Before we knew it we were involved in the friendly banter. Needless to say they did a great job on the undercut and the prices are extremely reasonable. We have been back many times since and I recommend this shop to everyone. This is a black barber shop that I stumbled across. I absolutely love it. They are incredibly nice, talk sports all the time and, most importantly, they give great haircuts. I initially was going to give 1 star, but I do remember how welcoming everyone was when I walked in. So, I guess there's a rule I forgot about where you don't sit in the barber's seat who's in the back. I did so. I have a head full of hair and I specifically told the barber that I wanted the back faded, and I wanted it to start at the tip of my ears. Basically, I left with the most crooked hair cut in the world. I'm going to another barber shop in the morning to have it fixed; meaning I'm going to have to bring it up and cut more hair above the top of my ears. I found the barber shop on here. Reg, Black, Jay and Mayne are the best barbers in town as far as I am concerned. Reg, Black and Jay cut my hair and don't even ask me how I like it done. Went online looking for a good barbershop, after having my head butchered (see other reviews) and I got more than what I bargained for ... Fun, laugh, professionalism and a phenomenal haircut. I wear my hair natural, but had to cut it down and Damon hoook me up. But honestly, what fun we had (me and my mom) while there. And their such gentleman too... watch the language around ladies. I would give the establishment 0 if that was an option. I arrived at the barbershop at 7:15 and they don't close till 8. I was asked to wait since all the barbers were with other customers, and was happy to do so. I did mention all I wanted was a line up (clean the back of my neck and line up my beard). As soon as one of the barbers was open, he openly said he didn't want to take me as he had to leave. I had to wait for nearly 20 minutes as two of the barbers finished cutting their customers hair but preferred to go home. Barber by the name "Mr. Black" obliged to help me. He was nice, but he completely messed up my beard. It was nowhere close to the lining I came into the shop with. I got charged $3 additional for using the razor on my neck. Only after he started using the razor did he mention that he had never used a razor on the neck area before. Had I known that, I wouldn't have asked for it. Stay away from this place! read more

I have been going to this shop for the last couple of months, stumbled upon it looking for a shop near my new office. All the barbers I have had here can cut hair and are very friendly, but today I had a bad experience. I stopped in at 9:20am and at 10am still no haircut, was told I was next and then a custom who walked in at 10am sits right down for a cut while I have been waiting nearly an hour. If you won't have a website or take appointments, why are customers who just walked in the door getting haircuts ahead of someone who's been waiting an hour??? I'M a woman with a short style similar to mayor KLB. I called 30 minutes before closing praying they would take a new customer because the hair in the back of my head needed real help. It had grown out and I was due to travel the next day. Over the phone, I was greeted by a cheerful voice who welcomed me and when I arrived 10 minutes later, I immediately felt comfortable. These guys (and girl) are professionals and treated me as such...no trepidation about walking into a majority male space. I walked out praising my new barber's fantastic skills. I haven't seen such a great fade in ages! It is perfectly blended, a 10 out of 10. My barber seemed sweet and humble (forgot his name already...sorry!
