Down a little side street off the main beach road in Praia do Rocha, and next to a tattoo shop and car rental agency, this small tapas restaurant has great food, and a personable wait staff. It's the end of the off season, so few people were out on a rainy Thursday evening, but we were in the hunt for tapas. On a previous walk they the area, this place caught our eye since it was one of the few places serving traditional small plates. It's a bit rustic and, of course, football was on the TV. We ordered the house Red and "couvert" (bread, butter and olives) as we perused the menu. An order was placed for a lettuce salad, fried small pork sausage balls, sautéed spinach, and sautéed mushrooms with bacon and sausage. The small plates came in waves as expected and we ate casually, not hurried at all. The food was terrific. We could see the chef (probably family run with mom in the kitchen) preparing the food - father and son waiting on tables. We thought the topper was going to be the homemade flan-like dessert until they brought freshly made fried cod balls and topped that off with a homemade honey liquor. It was a great meal which left the two of us stuffed and satisfied.
The price was extremely reasonable ($-$$) but they only take cash! Regardless, we highly recommend it! read more
