My repair was done on the spot for a great price and with no attempts to sell me questionable extra services. I love this place!

Post purchase of several items, the (presumably) owner pulled in and informed us that this is now a campground and we needed to move along. We had been in the, empty, parking lot for 20 minutes. In 5 years of nearly full-time van life, we have never experienced such rudeness. Glad you showed your true colors. A business to AVOID!!! Wow!! A reply. And not an apology. For example, "I'm sorry I reacted so swiftly. I should have popped in to my place of business first and learned from my staff that you two (only) folks in the parking lot are actually customers." Instead, "Heading off problems, as we had set up camp." Set up camp? Ya, we put our dog out with food and water on a rope. We saw your numerous "no dogs in store" signs. And setting up camp from 9:15-9-39 AM? Come on. Just not a good, customer first business man. Many times in various states around the country, bike/ski shops have even asked us if we would like to, "fill up our water? Or please, take your time. Need any tools? Want some MTB trail recommendations?" Not expected, but good business and really nice. Especially on a Monday morning when we are the only customers you had. The folks here are helpful and can get you the right equipment quickly. Last week I went in to buy a Camelbak water bottle. Hands down one of the best bike shops in NM. I have an older Scott Spark SL that's pushing 80k in…read moremiles but far from retirement. I had an issue pop up with the linkage units creaking/lose etc. after another store here locally looked at, they reassembled the linkage units with blue lock-tight...which is a huge no-no...lol...moronic actually. That said, New Mexico Bike and Sport worked with the OEM to get this corrected and replaced them with new linkage units. Bike is tight as hell now!! They also did some other repairs...like correcting the rear de-railure hanger, a misfitted chain from Another shop (installed too short of a chain) and one hell of a clean up too. They threw in a few other goodies as well. My bike looks brand new and more Importantly, rides like a gazelle!! I can't express enough the level of detail they went to on this awkwardly critical issue. They also, well worth noting, updated me regularly on the progress of this project...and trust me, it was not an easy lift. Due to the severity of the previous bike store locking the linkage units in place, they worked with the OEM on how to basically perform an emergency extraction and by the way...Scott backed them on up a potential frame replacement if something went wrong....based on how they instructed them to perform the extraction. In 15 years of living in NM...this sincerely was my best experience in dealing with a true servicing partner for my MtB. Will I drive up there again for assistance?? Absolutely. Thank you Tony and thank you Adam for the great workmanship!!

ABSOLUTELY TOP-QUALITY MAINTENANCE…read more Early this year (2004) I bought a low-priced Trek Verve bicycle at a different (top-rated) bike shop in Santa Fe. They warned me that the tires were not the best, but I had three flats in just the few months I owned the bike. (I rode on somewhat older and bumpy pavement, never off road.) They ascribed the problem to a bad season for goat heads and sold me new tubes, with goop, for both tires. After one of the repaired tubes had my fourth flat, I asked friends for recommendations, and they referred me to Rob & Charlie's. Their expert Ray was a rank above, with a new diagnosis: The particular tires on my bike, he said, would let the tubes slip slightly on the rims, straining the valve stem and making micro holes in the tube near the stem, if not maintained above 60 PSI. While he was telling me this, he switched the tube with his bare hands in 5 minutes, and I was on my way. I got the bike home, eager to take a ride the next day, and checked with my hand pump that both tires were filled to 70 PSI. Yet when I went to ride the bike the next day, the front tire (the one Ray had fixed) had gone flat and leaked when I tried to pump it. So I called Ray, told him what had happened, and he told me to bring in the front wheel and tire (NOT the whole bike). He examined the new tube he had installed and found it defective. After examining another new tube of the same low-cost brand, and finding micro-leaks also near its stem, Ray upgraded me to a better-quality tube. Again, it took him less than five minutes. At my request, he also extracted the valve-grabbing part of my old Bontrager hand pump, cleaned it and fixed it before my eyes, again in less than five minutes. He charged me nothing for this second visit, the second, better new tube (with goop) or the pump fix, but apologized for my trouble. Ray is simply the best, most expert and quickest bike repair person I've ever encountered. In the future, I will take all my bike repairs to Ray, although I have great hopes that my "Bicycle from Hell," now with suitably pumped-up tires, will mend its ways.
