I am incredibly frustrated with the cost of the work performed by Tann Electric. Tann came recommended by my property manager as a good electrician who has worked in our building before. 1) Rates were not disclosed prior to the start of work, but as he began the work only. And a rough estimate was not provided before work had commenced, but only when the final bill was presented. I, as the customer, had no idea of even an estimate of the amount that I would be liable for at the end of service. 2) Outlets were left open and unsafe while he went to Home Depot to get new outlets and a switch. He was gone for over 1 hour on the clock for this errand 3) He was taking other calls and helping other technicians and doing other work while was on the clock for the work in my unit. He spent 15 minutes typing up the service order while still on the clock. Also, he was chatty, but the clock was running with such high rates, I would think there would be minimal engagement in communication. 4) He charged more than 3x the cost of the items that were installed in my unit. 5) I am a professional in the industry and regularly review pricing for professional electricians on major commercial construction. I understand what a reasonable rate is and Tann Electric refused to compromise on the bill or take any sort of responsibility. read more

While I have no complaint with the electrician who did the work, the final invoice was higher than I expected (e.g., $2000 to replace an attic fan). The verbal estimate I recall being given was about half of what the final cost turned out to be. That said, the attic was a tight fit, and the new, quality motor cost $300+. So again, the service was good, and the electrician was professional. However I should have obtained a written estimate before work began; lesson learned. I would recommend this company based upon the quality of work performed with the caveat that the work may be expensive. read more

I had a switch that wasn't working. I called the original company that wired the house and was told that they couldn't come out for several weeks and they recommended Tann. I called Tann and they came out promptly. The guy who came out was on his phone much of the time trying to figure out how to wire the switch. He got the switch working and charged me $296! I was floored. A few days later, the switch again was not working, so a different guy came out. He was here for quite a while and told me to buy a new switch and when I received it, I should let him know and they'd come back and install it. He didn't say anything about cost, so I assumed it would be covered by the $296 I'd already paid. Yesterday, the second guy came back and was here quite a while installing the new switch. When he was ready to leave, he presented me with a bill for $300! I told him I'd call his office to talk to them about the bill. Whoever I talked to there told me they hadn't charged me for the second trip, like I was getting a real deal. The guy yesterday came about 8:00 a.m. and said his next appointment wasn't till 3. I was so upset and fighting back tears after calling their office and finally just gave up and gave the guy my credit card number. My question is this: If they are licensed and experienced, why would it take three trips and $596 to fix a switch? Please be careful with this company and their billing practices. read more

I wouldn't recommend that provider to anyone. They installed an outlet for me and didn't do a good job causing my new car to malfunction. Tann Electric goes above and beyond to solve complicated problems. We had our smoke alarms replaced and had problems with false alarms. At the recommendation of a neighbor Tann came out to help with the connection of electricity for my pond. It kept shorting out and eventually the GFI would not reset. Almost three hours later the problem was not solved and the technician put in a new GFI in a different place and said he would need to come back again with a locator to find the place where the short was. He was to return at 8:00 the following Monday and did not show up until 9:20, even with a call to the office at 8:30. He did finally find the short, right by the connection to the pond, and fixed it. That took another two hours. He did refund the money for the unnecessary first GFI, but I asked not to be charged for a second service call, $99, since if he had had the right equipment the first time he would not have to return. After a call to the office this was refused. I am not sure where the blame should be - perhaps equally with the office and the technician. Needless to say I would never use them again. My total bill was over $1000 which I feel is exorbitant. read more

We have used Tann Electric several times, most recently in December of this year (2021) for installation of three outdoor security lights around our house. We wish we could get a narrower window of time when we could expect the technician at our house, but we understand that it's difficult to say exactly how long the job(s) before ours will take. When the electrician arrived (18 years of experience) he was courteous, friendly and knew exactly what he needed to do. He had ladders and all tools need to do the job. The entire job took only one hour, so we were charged one hour's labor plus the service call charge. Very reasonable - no attempt to work slowly or do anything to increase the final invoice. We are very pleased and will definitely use Tann Electric again. read more

They could have billed the estimated amount and I wouldn't have known the difference, but they didn't need to do all the work projected. Pretty honest, I'd say, and a first for me. I have a couple of rental properties in Kansas City and Tann Electric had come recommended from a friend who has used them extensively in the past for similar work on residential real estate fixes. Kathy picked-up the phone immediately and was pleasant to engage. They originally thought it may be 48-72 hours before they could dispatch for a fix but when I put them in touch w/ my tenant, I was pleased to hear they were able to get out that afternoon and have everything working again w/n 90 min.
