I am cautious with my hair as I've done quite a bit of damage to it over the years, but she is quick to offer suggestions on how to treat it so it doesn't get worse, and my cut and colour always looks better than hope it well end up when I walk in. My hair always FEELS better when I leave than it does with other salons I've been to. I haven't asked her which products she uses when she washes and styles my hair after, but next visit I will probably buy some. The salon itself is always spotless, warm, and welcoming, and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The receptionist with long hair and big, Disney eyes (I didn't catch her name last time I was in) always offers me wine, coffee or tea and takes my jacket which I find to be a very nice touch. Their prices are not only reasonable, they're fair, and I am always thrilled with the end result. All the other staff that is working throughout the day seem to go out of their way to help each other, and I always have more than one person come up to me to say hi or to offer me something/offer their help.

It did. They don't seem to have a dedicated receptionist; when you call, leave a message and they'll call you back. There were a handful of other customers there, likely regulars since everyone seemed familiar. Gwen, the owner, came out to greet me. I told her what I wanted -- still long, a bit more style, but basically wash-and-go since I can't/won't spend an hour on it in the mornings. Annnnnd that's what I got. I am very pleased with the outcome. The girl ahead of me left with a cool, pointy, multi-coloured style; This salon seems very versatile and of course they specialize in colour, so when I go back in a couple of months I might try out something new. My priority for this visit was leaving with a cut that looked and felt like a better version of myself. I would highly recommend it to anyone whose prior Ottawa experiences have left them feeling gun-shy.

I rarely use that word but in this case it is necessary. I'd grown my hair past my shoulders. Before she started, I showed pics of the type of long, angled bob I wanted and she seemed to understand. I said I didn't know how long the back should be if I wanted the front be just above the collarbone. She checked the back and suggested around the neck to which I deferred to her professional opinion. I'm pretty blind without my glasses off so after my color, had no idea she was chopping off so much until she showed me the finished product. I was horrified - not only was it about 3-4 inches shorter than I wanted (girls, you know that's a BIG difference), there wasn't even any angle between the front and back. My bob was at my jawline - like the kind of hairstyle a 84 year old grandma gets. I was in such shock, all I could mention was that it wasn't angled. I mean, what could she do, she'd already cut it all off? Not sure if she didn't know how to do angled bob or she was having too much fun with stories as she is very laid back and talkative. In retrospect, I wish there was less chatting and more focus on my cut. I have 3 functions/events coming up and was looking forward to rocking a sleek new do, but my hair is so bad I've be using a hairband or clip to just pull it back as best I can. It will take me a year to grow out my hair again. She has good product knowledge and sold me a product for my hair type. Perhaps one would have better luck here with maintaining a current cut - rather than getting a new style - or by being an 84 year old grandmother. Staff kept coming into the rooms where we were complaining to other staff that they were so busy. It made us all feel uncomfortable, they took my daughter an hour after her scheduled appointment. Her hair did look beautiful though. When it was my turn to get my hair done, the hair tech did not understand what I was looking for even though I showed her photos and she still curled my hair anyway. I hate my hair curled. I felt she didn't listen to me and then was a little huffy when I asked her to redo part of it and by the time I left I was so upset. This is my daughter's wedding day, and we all went together to have some fun, and because the spa staff were so late, I did not have time to redo my hair when we got back to the house. I was very disappointed and unhappy with the result, and it was very expensive. All that money for so much ugly. Synergy spa, the things that you were saying in front of your clients and how stressed you were because you obviously overbooked and then did not have enough staff to do the job properly, you made us all feel uncomfortable. In the future, please don't make your problems client problems. I would never go back to this place, and I would never recommend it. If there was a zero star rating I would give that to them instead of the one star I had to give them.

With new staff the quality of my haircuts and colouring went down hill quickly, just as fast as the prices began increasing. On a few occasions I found the owner, Mireille, to be both obnoxious and rude to some of her customers. Since I no longer was getting quality results or enjoying my visits, I haven't gone back. There are many better hair salons in Ottawa that do quality work and treat their customers respectfully. Therefore, I can't recommend this beauty salon to anyone.

Not super thrilled with my experience…read more It's a nice salon, great location, and the front staff is very nice. My cut was not the greatest. I went in with a chin-length growing-out pixie and walked out with an ear-length mushroom. I can work with it, but I didn't want that much cut off and I certainly didn't want poof around my ears, which is really unflattering for my round head shape. My head looks so short that when I saw myself in my mirror afterwards I thought my mirror was distorted. I also felt very talked-down-to as someone who doesn't fuss with my hair on a daily basis, with my stylist barely speaking to me and feigning shock when I told him, no, I don't style my hair every morning. All that said, the cut is acceptable as a not-terrible growout cut, but I wouldn't go back.
