Not super thrilled with my experience…read more It's a nice salon, great location, and the front staff is very nice. My cut was not the greatest. I went in with a chin-length growing-out pixie and walked out with an ear-length mushroom. I can work with it, but I didn't want that much cut off and I certainly didn't want poof around my ears, which is really unflattering for my round head shape. My head looks so short that when I saw myself in my mirror afterwards I thought my mirror was distorted. I also felt very talked-down-to as someone who doesn't fuss with my hair on a daily basis, with my stylist barely speaking to me and feigning shock when I told him, no, I don't style my hair every morning. All that said, the cut is acceptable as a not-terrible growout cut, but I wouldn't go back.

After creeping her page, watching her facial videos and more creeping on WSS website, I decided to book us both in for a 75 minute facial. We were both a little unsure of what to expect but came out of it with glowing skin and full of excitement for future appointments. I was definitely half asleep during my whole treatment. Briar started with a little consultation and began treatment. She was knowledgeable, kind and gave me some recommendations of steps to consider adding to my current skin routine, which I appreciate so much. During the treatment, I was thinking " this is what luxury feels like" LOL. I was a little afraid that the vibes of the spa might feel pretentious, but we were warmly greeted right off the bat. They made us feel welcomed and appreciated. We are excited to come back.

Upon arrival, Grandma, baby and I were greeted by Buthanya and another staff member in a friendly manner. My little one was then placed in a fun toy car chair and buckled in. She loved being able to play with the steering wheel while Buthanya cut her hair. Buthanya was very sweet the entire time, making sure my toddler was comfortable. Buthanya asked us what we wanted done with my little one's hair and made sure we were fully satisfied with the end result before we paid. She even put in a cute little clip in my daughter's hair at the end. The haircut cost $27 plus tip, but it was totally worth it and I would bring my daughter back to Buthanya. She was very quick and professional with the cut, which made things easier on my daughter. Perfect!

This is a place to go to be truly holistically cared for: from the endless refills of special herbal tea blends, to the high quality products they use, to the relaxed and careful attention they give you with each service, to their follow-through that you are completely happy with your results -- this spot simply can't be beat! I was treated with the highest level of respect, even when I asked for something to be redone because it had messed up on my way home. Pedicures that go beyond pedicures: pure blissed out foot and leg massage, tingly scrubs, gentle tools (yay, I didn't bleed like I always do at other places!) and a very classy and constantly updated selection of colours to choose from. Manicures: I got French tips (regular polish), which require a meticulous and very skilled application. Mine were impeccable. I'm thrilled. The ladies were absolute perfectionists. I've never tried acrylic nails or gel nails but the ladies looked so good in theirs that I might just go for it next time. Facials: I had the privilege of being part of a special facial night with a group, and I was so ecstatic with the experience and the results that I had to go back for a number of the products that we used. DELICIOUS. Chemical-free. Smelling and feeling like heaven. Goddamn, you deserve it. They are super knowledgeable and confident and can guide you to the exact right thing for your skin. The interior is super clean, and they don't use those difficult to clean jacuzzi foot tub things that are usually plastic-lined for the sake of sanitation - no, they use stainless steel bowls that can be easily sterilized and you can be sure of no lingering foot fungus from anybody else. Makes it easier to relax, no? The mani-pedi stations are downstairs and the facials area is upstairs where it's more quiet and secluded. They have a wide range of Naturopathica products that literally fly off the shelves, they're that good. I actually had to wait for them to order one in for me (but it came very quickly) because the product is so epic: Manuka honey cleansing balm - go get it now.

However, my shellac was just slightly better than the one I had at another more low end place, two weeks ago, but cost twice as much for the same service: removal, manicure and shellac. The shellac on a couple of nails wasn't nicely shaped despite paying for a manicure too. The shellac was painted over the cuticle in a couple of spots. The shellac started peeling on three nails after 1.5 weeks. I had a shellac done in downtown Vancouver for 2/3 of the price that neatly lasted 3 weeks. Giving it a 3 because the service and atmosphere was great but not the nail job.

The facial: 5/5 Relaxing, private, quiet and professional. Olivia was informative, gentle and not over chatty (all good in my book). Oh and there was a bed warmer... lovely! Foot massage (2/5) I'm basing this on deep foot massages I have had in the past. The deeper the better. I'd give their approach to a foot massage a 5 if you're just expecting light application of massive amounts of fragrant creams and ever so gentle, light rubbing in a pleasant setting. I sat beside a good friend and we chatted while she had a pedi and the staff allowed me to stay longer because her procedure was longer and the room wasn't needed. I felt that was kind. Where things went off the rails and why my review plummets was due to the communication I received from this place after my review. I had expressed 2 levels of disappointment with their foot massage . First is wasn't 'deep' despite the description of 'deep rhythmic massage' on their website and second because the esthetician maintained a very light pressure after I twice told her should could go much deeper. The 'deep, rhythmic massage' never happened. They sent me an email asking me to change the review, blaming my disappointment on my misinterpretation of 'deep rhythmic foot massage' and explaining that of course it meant was 'deeply relaxing'. They said a lot of other stuff, but the result is that I feel gaslit and feel they were trying to shame me for giving an honest review. They have now updated the website to eliminate the wording of 'deep rhythmic' from their foot massage description. I have a screenshot of that earlier version. So, I have in fact changed my review from a 3 to a one and would give them a zero for customer service if I could. No customer should be made to feel this way.
