I like the concept of this layout quite a lot. What I don't like is that the name is VERY deceiving. Most of the stores here are not, in fact, outlet stores. I wouldn't call this an outlet mall at all. A majority of these stores are just that. Stores. Not discounted pricing at all. In fact, many of the stores are even higher in price than the typical indoor mall. Howell Tanger has actual outlet stores. I was VERY disappointed to make the trek to this place. If there was a guide as to which "stores" were actually outlets, it would be helpful. read more

Overall a great shopping experience. Friendly staff and good variety of stores. I wish there were more food choices though since there isn't much in the immediate area. There was only a Subway and Auntie Annies. We wanted to do an entire day of shopping but instead got hungry and had to leave early. read more

I had great expectation from this place and today was my 2nd visit here. Last time I went to Tommy Hilfiger outlet there and bought few items including a tshirt. After I wore it for cpuple of days and washed it just once (that wasnt a machine wash, it was washed alone in a tub separately in order to keep the bright color), the color of the black stripes came on to the white and yellow stripes. It was no way my mistake, I have been wearing their tshirts for long. I called them and they promised me to do something about it. I was hopeful and went from portage to tanger (45 mikes). After I reached there, a guy there told me that he cannot find the tag and hence it cannot be returned. Common...seriously?? They he told that the color must have come from another clothe. After I told that the tshirt was washed separately, he told that it was more than 30 days and cannot be returned. I told him that it was 26th day, nit more than a month. He wasnt just ready to do anything about it. At last he denied saying that you cnnot return after washing it. Couldnt you say that before I could travel 90 miles? I always make sure that bright clothes are not washed with dark ones and also I use the best of best ditergents! It wasnt my fault, but it was the bad color and bad service! I travelled that far not to save money, but because it was my favorite tshirt and they promised me to do something about it. The lady over the phone was good and kind. But unfortunately I met this inhuman who wasnt just ready to do anything instead of repeated requests. I will never go to that shop again! read more

I've shopped several times at this Tanger location. Last visit was with my daughter & 8 week old grandchild. We appreciated the planning that included two "Mother & Baby" rooms. Made our shopping trip enjoyable. read more

This is an ok outlet mall as outlet malls go. I have been to other outlet malls (Michigan City, Birch Run, Howell). This one is smaller, so the selection is not as wide. It would be great to have more food shops, e.g., Pepperidge Farm, Harry and David. As others have noted, it would be helpful to have restaurants or a food court near by. The prices are a bit high as well. It's a tad better when there is a sale and/or you can use a coupon. Wish they had a Saks Off 5th or Pottery Barn. I still prefer Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx. read more

An enjoyable trip is the way I would describe going to this outlet mall. We go there for specific stores...Under Armour, Brooks Brothers, Nike, MK, Talbots and love to go the the pub across the street. If you become a Tanger member, there is a wonderful lounge for coffee and you are provided with coupon books. We have never had trouble parking. On the other hand, we do not go there, the day before Christmas. read more

I really liked the VIP lounge. It was nice to be able to sit in a comfortable area. We'll done Tanger. It would add to the VIP lounge to have bathrooms behind the curtained area. All in all, it is a welcomed benefit to my shopping experience. read more

I love that Grand Rapids has a tanger outlet mall. I was super excited when I found out about. It's a very nice lay out sometimes confusing but there are maps everywhere. I wish all the stores were in and open there are many empty spaces. More food variety, there is food places but not like the other tanger malls I've been too. Parking is kinda horrible not because there isn't enough but because the parking lot always looks packed when it's really not to busy. I love that they have a play area for the kids and lots of seating around. Overall it is a great place to go, stores are good, every one is respectful. read more

The new outlet mall is clean with nice wide open spaces. There is a good selection of stores but I am looking forward to seeing what stores open in the remaining 11 open spaces. I would love to see a Coach outlet since no outlet mall is complete without one. read more

Different outlet same stores. When can Tanger bring high-end outlet stores (like the ones in Florida, Ohio, etc.) to Michigan. It doesn't make sense to keep building outlet malls with the same stores. Where is DVF, Gucci, Burberry, etc. There is no food court or any place to eat unless you want pretzels or Subway, nor are there places nearby. Not a good idea for people who drive hundreds of miles and plan to shop all day and want something to eat. Shopping all day is not really an option either because the mall isn't that big and offers the same typical outlet stores you find in other Michigan outlet malls. I'm sooooo happy that Tanger came to West Michigan! I've heard a lot of people say that the new outlet does not have outlet prices. If you are a smart shopper, sign up for emails and use coupons, there are great deals are to be had! The only thing that is a little tricky is the parking lot. Always traffic lines to going into the parking lot. Overall, my family and I love to go. Some people say there are not enough food choices. I think that's a bonus! Think of the money you save by NOT buying food! You are there to shop, not sit down and eat. read more

Went for the first time yesterday, it's nice, there are a few "different" stores than at most outlets, but there is a serious lack of food choices, was really hungry, all we could find was the pretzel shop, then we saw Subway, and at the end of our jaunt, that's when we saw the hot dog vendor, he needs to be more in the middle so everyone will see him. Otherwise we enjoyed it. People were saying it's expensive, but if you watch for the sale racks and shop wisely, it's not any worse than other outlets. read more

Mall was not busy but still had very long walk from parking lot. It was a windy day and it was very chilly shopping at the stores on the west side of the mall. Can't imagine shopping there in the winter. The stores all had a nice selection and most of the sales people were friendly and helpful. I still prefer shopping at an enclosed mall. I had signed up in advance to purchase a coupon book but had a very long wait in line to pick it up; but then found that most of the coupons had a minimum purchase (some were $70). read more

It is nice to have an outlet mall in the GR area. It was very clean and pleasant. It looked like there were some new businesses coming in. I am not a big shopper but I enjoyed the stores I visited. The customer service was very friendly and helpful. We will be back. read more

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the grounds. During my visit, I saw 2 cleaning people at work. I thought it was terrific when I saw one of them pick up a piece of gum (I guess the person who tossed it figured it would instantly biodegrade). I stopped in the Shoppers Service Center and was treated very nicely by the employee. There are a nice assortment of stores. My only criticism is the lack of restaurants. read more

Love the location for I work practically next door so it's never out of the way. Most of my favorites are there except on the website before opening the Jockey store was on the original lineup and also the area needs more restaurant support. read more

My husband and I visited for the first time in May 2016. Parking was not a problem. I found the mall clean. It has many bathrooms. Some stores were familiar, some were new to me. We bought many clothing items. We browsed thru the home goods stores.I was disappointed that there wasn't a Totes store or a sock store. All employees were friendly and wanting to help you. The stores are in a compact area compared to other Tanger Outlet Malls. Food selection is scarce. We didn't want to get in our car to drive to a restaurant. I wonder what employees do for food! It is easy access from US131. I will shop there again soon, but make a meal plan before hand. read more

The outdoor mall is always so clean! And I love how much seating there is to take a break from shopping. Great stores; looking forward to some of the big sales. Spend $10 and join the Tanger Club. You won't be sorry! read more

Love the way the outlet is laid out however I agree with everyone else. There needs to be more restaurants/sports bars close by for all the men who accompany their women to the outlets. Let them sit and relax (and not be bored) while the ladies shop!!! :) read more

Great layout, lots of restrooms, nice store choices. Only negative was only one restaurant subway. There was a pretzel place but they were so busy you had a 20 minute wait. Not worth the time to wait. The mall was great. read more

Very nice and clean. Good location. There are a lot of different stores. There isnt a lot of choice for food, bring snacks.

Don't join the Tanger Rewards Program - you present your card to retailers, and then they tell you that YOU have to take your receipt(s) and go home and get on the computer and go to the site and enter in your own receipts to the reward program. Is that convienient? No. I paid $5 or $10 to join the rewards club program, and I have to do ALL the work? And there's BARELY anything to eat throughout the mall. Retailers are pretty good, but the prices aren't really lower than Mall Departments of the same name. There's no discounts unless you have the coupons from the Shopper's Source offices. And even then, not ALL the retailers participate with the coupons. Forget it. read more

Free Wheel Chair Rental was very helpful. Unfortunately the handicap parking was not located near the customer service building where the wheel chairs are located. Also I was disappointed that none of the stores (in this new mall) had handicap electric openers, thankfully people in Grand Rapids are very friendly and helped with holding the door open. -The shopping deals did make the hassle worth it. read more

Very friendly atmosphere, pricing reasonable in some stores that is. One thing you won't have a problem is with restrooms, great job there. The only thing negative I would write about is that whenever is a busy day, you have to wait a while in line to check out. In particular the small stores, You either have to be real early or late but by that time most everything will be picked. read more

This weekend my family and I went to the outlets for the 3rd time since they opened. It was not very crowded because it was after Memorial Day but every store had some great sales. We shopped and everyone in the family found what they were looking for. We drove home which is about 40 minutes away. After a few hours of being home, we noticed that we were missing a bag. I started calling each store we had shopped in and finally found the (expensive) missing bag. Thankfully some honest person had seen it by a shelf and turned it in. The store said they would hold it until we could get there to pick it up. I drove back down and everything we had bought was still in the bag. I am very thankful there are still honest people and honest store employees in the world because that bag held most of my savings in it. I loved shopping here and will continue since we have had a very positive experience. read more

This is really just another outdoor mall. Most stores are not outlet stores, just regular stores with regular sales. It should be mandatory to be an outlet store to have space at an outlet mall. The layout is good with overhangs for rainy days, but the blaring loud outdoor music got to go. Loud music in the stores I sort of understand but outdoors is just plain a nuisance. Subway and a pretzel place are the only food options. Really? Bad planning! The coupon book, regularly priced $5, was for free for me (AAA, military and college students), however the representative behind the counter tried very hard to sell me a membership. I'm glad I opted for the free book as it really only saved me about $5 all day. The H&M store is terrible. What a horrible experience compared to shopping at H&M in Europe or even Chicago! The Old Navy store is a huge mess with narrow isles, too much stuff in heaps on tables. Love Franscescas, however it is just a regular store, not an outlet store. Great customer service there though. Adequate outdoor seating was available, however some of it was high top tables not suitable for children or the elderly. Will I go back? Maybe if I was looking for a specific item at a specific store. Would I go back as a day looking for bargains? No. Then I would go to Howell or Michigan City. read more
