I have a skin condition that is sometimes treated with sun exposure and I have experimented with it for nearly a decade. Over the years, I have been a member of three L.A. tanning salons and visited a number of others. Tanlines is by far the best and most effective salon that I have ever experienced. The owner and his staff are knowledgeable about the tanning process and prevent anyone from over-doing it. Their recommendations have been outstanding and the results are that I have stopped taking medications for my condition and simply visit their business several times a week. Admittedly it is not cheap, but every salon has their "special offers" and style of pricing (often very confusing). These guys are up-front and offer inexpensive "test weeks" to let you check out the facility. Plus they have uber-tanning beds that I have never seen anywhere else. Finally, the place is always immaculately clean, the staff is friendly and they have off-street parking. I am hooked and will recommend this place for anyone looking for a tanning salon, whether it be for cosmetic or medial purposes. Check them out if you like to tan. read more

My partner and I have been tanning here for over 3 years. We buy the yearly membership and find it to be a great value - especially compared to others in the area we shopped. This place is always sparkling clean and the bulbs are changed frequently. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but some of the reviews here simply don't match my experience...at all. There are always other options for most any service you want, but little things like the staff knowing you by name or knowing which beds you like more than others are perfect examples of the exemplary customer service I've grown accustomed to here. This place is great the selection of beds are pretty regular BUT the service is awesome. The guy at the front wasn't super pushy like at other salons and was very knowledgeable. I tried the most expensive bed, because I wanted a quick tan and it was worth it. Their tan packages are moderately priced and worth it if you tan often. I have to say upfront that this was my first experience at a tanning salon (25 year old male). I do not know if the prices are better or worse than others. However Madison made me feel very comfortable with the experience. She was friendly and extremely helpful. This made my first experience with tanning a good one. Stopped in after work new to the area and Dan welcomed me, explained the different programs available and had me roasting within about ten minutes. The guy knows his stuff and keeps an immaculate store (including the restroom). Lots of hassle free parking, great prices and a tanning guru for no extra charge. I tried this place out because I heard they had a leg only tanning bed. For me my legs take forever to get tan and the thought of a leg only bed sounded brilliant. I have to say the service was great. The guy that got me started and set up was very helpful and knowledgable. He took the time to explain everything in detail and made sure to answer any questions. I have been to literally almost every tanning salon in Burbank over the last few years. Although none were bad, I didn't find one that was GREAT until Tan Lines. The space is very large with plenty of beds. It is super clean, and has a really good vibe. The owners as well as the staff have been nothing less than genuinely welcoming and sweet. They will greet you by name upon entering. From the beginning, I felt very comfortable here. Not to mention the prices are extremely reasonable. I do the unlimited monthly and it is literally half of what I paid at other salons. Plus parking is never an issue. Can't go wrong here in any way. A+++! read more

This is one of the most well designed tanning salons I have been to. Very nice place. And I've been to many. Not very nice people. Quite overpriced. Kind of a scam in the way they sell "sun dollars." The owners think that they are the not only the best, but the only option out there for tanning. The employees are fairly clueless. Can't remember a name to save their lives. Tan Lines is currently offering a special. What the special is I do not know. I received a very obscure email, called to see what the deal was. Because of course, every girl wants a little color in the winter. I was told that I would have to come in to learn about the specials. "Every thing is on sale. Some even free." I was told. I responded that most of us don't have the time in December to come in to get such info. I told the guy that I would need to have a very good reason to spend my time on such, if he couldn't give me some further information then I would be going elsewhere. He actually told me, "Then I guess you will be going elsewhere." If you are willing to overpay for tanning and don't mind dealing with people who think you have no other option, then this is the place for you. And I am hopeful that there is no one out there fitting that description. Gave them one star because there was no option to give NONE. NEVER GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY. I LOVE this place!!! I moved to LA from South Carolina and was nervous that I wasn't going to find a tanning salon as great as back home. BUT, I was wrong! Tan Lines has a variety of beds and a variety of packages to choose from. Their customer service is phenomenal! They're not pushy with their products but will gladly answer any questions you have. Tan Lines appeared small to me when I first walked in, but as I walked down the hall, I noticed that it had so many rooms and so many beds! This is great because I never have to wait on a bed! Every time I walk in, they know me by name and know what bed I'm most likely going to be using! Their tanning rooms are SUPER clean! Each room also has a small shelf with tissues, deodorant, and wipes (to make sure you smell your best when you leave!) and the beds are ready for you to use with clean eye goggles and a towel. They update the bulbs in their beds frequently and leave me with a great tan!! When I first started researching tanning salons in my area, I came across Tan Lines yelp page and noticed some of the bad reviews. However, I have NEVER had a bad experience here! I noticed that all of the low ratings were due to the customer either being lazy, careless... or just plain dumb. I had my own lotion from a previous tanning salon and the owner/employees had no problem with me using my own. Obviously, they don't want $5 Walmart lotion being used on their expensive beds...and I don't know why you would think that would be beneficial for your tan. ... and it's not the tanning salon's responsibility to cancel your monthly billing. They are a business and you signed the paper work. Pricing is very reasonable- it's about the same that I was paying in the south. I have the middle package (unlimited use of the level one beds, 12 min. lay-down beds and stand-up bed) and I pay about $40. Trust me, this place is well worth your money! I get compliments all the time on my tan! They are very knowledgeable about what is best for you & your skin type! I wouldn't go anywhere else!!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Immaculate, air conditioned, pretty, relaxing, welcoming, reasonable, plenty of parking, the list goes on... I came here on the recommendation of a friend and had high hopes. They did not disappoint. Everyone that works here is super nice and they are always on their game. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help. They have TONS of rooms and even have a leg tanning bed, score! Tons of packages and options. Ridiculously friendly staff. Super affordable prices for surprisingly new and updated equipment. Stress free no hassle. I read below a complaint about a start up fee. That's only if you buy a membership. This is very standard for tanning salons that don't require you to do a year contract. It's saving their company for you using their equipment unlimited, yet maybe not devoting your loyalty for a year like some salons do. I have had multiple tanning memberships before (in multiple states), and the only time I wasn't required to pay a start up fee is when I was bound in a mandatory 1 year contract and couldn't break it. I used to work at the Darque Tan in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. After they got bought out by Palm Beach Tan, I worked there for awhile too. Both companies had start up fees for new members. (Palm Beach Tan's start up fee was pricier, Darque Tan's was the exact same.) I would counter the argument from the dual perspective of a customer and a previous employee from the inside of tanning industry, Tanlines actually has a great business model. They let you freeze your account whenever you want. (Most memberships only let you freeze your account for 1 month or 2), and you can cancel your account anytime after the first billing cycle. If you have any extenuating circumstances they're pretty open and lenient. So often these days credit and debit card numbers get compromised and the bank reorders you a new one. For anyone who's on an autopay membership at a gym, spa, salon, anything then you know how frustrating it can be when your payment doesn't go through due to not updating your credit card. Even though you're always supposed to be charged a late fee for the late payment, they waived it joking saying that it happened to a lot of other people too during the holidays. (High fraud at the end of year). Someone wrote below that her lack of payment for the same situation went to collections. This can only happen if you fail to pay multiple months at a time. Also legally they can't cancel your membership until the third party or you has finalized payments. Otherwise you get away with a free membership. Again, they are the least sneaky when it comes to fees. If I had ever waived a late fee at the salons I worked at, I would have been fired. (The advantage of the owner actually working and being present!) Having worked at salons (Palm Beach mainly) that drives you to push sales so much and creates most of your paycheck off of commission, I will say that usually tanning salon employees are super pushy. This is not the case at Tanlines. They are very friendly and genuine. Will only talk about product if you seem genuinely interested about something. I also read someone else's yelp complaint about a wait time below and that rarely happens. I would like to commend actually how efficient they are. You go to any walk-in (no appointment) tanning salon in Beverly Hills that charges twice the amount for the same beds or spray booths, and the wait time is way worse. Overall great employees. Super clean. Not pushy. Rarely a wait time. Very affordable. Very reasonable. Not commission hungry employees. Open 7 days a week. Equipment: All levels of beds: UVA, UVB, UVA/B - 20 min, 12 min, 10 min... Stand up, leg tanner; Versa Spray. AND A PARKING LOT. read more

I love this place! Years ago I tanned at the Hollywood Tans in Pasadena because they had the stand up tanning booths. I have since moved and was looking for a new place that had tanning booths (I prefer booths over beds). I'm glad I found Tan Lines, the owner is great, very professional and knowledgeable. I've never in the whole year of going here had to wait for a bed and they are always on top of cleaning them promptly and making sure your experience is fast but pleasant. I have been going here for many years and I have never been pressured or hassled to purchase anything other than what I wanted. This salon is a fabulous family run business.
