Finally able to visit this cute distillery. It was very quiet on a weekday and we felt lucky to have the place to ourselves. One other couple came in to shop. Tamworth Distilling has a connection to Art in the Age which is how we found out about the place. The charm of the building and interior design is lovely. Very easy to walk in, order a taste or two from the menu and enjoy yourself. We love gin and tried some varieties. They were interesting though we didn't buy bottles to go. I'd love to see some organic spirits offered. read more

We were visiting friends in New Durham. They always plan the most interesting excursions for us. Today, we set out for Tamworth. After a delightful lunch at the Art in the Age Cage, we strolled down to the Tamworth Distillery. We were thrilled to see such an enchanting and charming distillery. We were able to look into where the products are distilled. Today, they were offering several ways to taste their products. You could have 3 tastings for $12, 5 tastings for $15 or a Cider Making which included a tasting of 3 spirits; make your own cider and a plate of cheese, biscuit and apples for $20.00. My husband did the 5 for $15 tasting of the following: Chocorua Straight Rye, Tamworth Garden Pommeau, Tamworth Garden Dutchess Gin, Old Hampshire Applejack, and Ginger Quince Cordial. Our friends did the Cider Making Tasting. Tamara was our server, and she was a delight. She took the time to explain everything to us. We found it most interesting, and my husband enjoyed all of his tastings. So much so, that he purchased a bottle of Flora Gin (which he had previously enjoyed). My partner and I first heard of Tamworth distilling after we bought a bottle of their gin at a local liquor store. After doing some research, we saw that it was made in Tamworth, NH and had made a mental note to go and check it out sometime. After some time, I did some research and found that they regularly do events at their venue. One of the events that caught my eye was a yoga and cordial tasting, so I decided to buy tickets. First off, when approaching the venue, I was in awe of the beauty of the facility. It was definitely built with the history of Tamworth in mind and has a modern farmhouse look to it. It also sits by a river and they have seating by the river to enjoy some tastings and to sit and relax. Our yoga session was outside by the river, which was the perfect landscape for it. After our yoga session, the workers were quick to accommodate everyone for the cordial tasting. They were knowledgeable about their products and the tasting was fun because of that. After the tasting and yoga session, we perused the store where they feature all of their liquors, ranging from various gins, whiskey, vodkas, and cordials, among other items for sale. I would be interested in coming back to explore more of the actual distillery and offerings. Definitely a spot to check out! read more

In May of 2022, I paid a visit to Tamworth only to find it closed (guess I could/should have checked their hours), but I finally made it back this past July and couldn't have been more satisfied with the whiskey I sampled. Like other reviewers, I wish they offered (more) food (minus one star) and were open later, but I recognize the limitations of being a distillery in a small town. All in all, a great place to visit whenever I make my way to the region. read more

Nice place. Cute little town area. Service was friendly and prompt. No food is served just alcohol. Tastings were good where you could choose one of their selections or craft your own. We had a little bit of sticker shock when we grabbed two bottles that we tried that we really liked. Definitely not cheap but definitely good tasting. We are always in the area on days they are closed, but the stars finally aligned and we were able to stop by. Wow. This place is great! My husband and I each got a flight and shared so we could try a lot of their different spirits. I'd be embarrassed to say how much we bought, but some of it was for gifts. They do have recipe cards available in the tasting room as well as other merchandise for purchase. My husband really likes the Aquavit while I can't wait to try the Black Jupiter in a Manhattan. We both loved the William Whipple's wheat whisky. We'll definitely be back. read more

Just OK spirits and horrible service. We arrived about 2 hours before closing. There were 2 servers at the tasting table and two groups of about 5-7 people each. Not another soul in the place. We were ignored for 30 minutes before someone came over, clearly feeling like she was doing us a favor be even acknowledging us. We tried pretty much everything and left with a few bottles. I'm not really sure what all the hype is about. There's nothing negative to say really. The spirits are OK but not great, and they seem to be pretty pleased with themselves, but not so much pleased with you for coming there. Tamworth, you beautiful wonderful people. Wizards of delicious. You infuse like no other and I thank you. Tucked in a cute little New Hampshire town of Tamworth is Tamworth Distilling and Mercantile. A beautiful space with giant display windows to peek into the still room to see where it all goes down. A tasting room in the center where you can buy tasting flights, and should. Get 2 and taste almost everything, get three to taste it all and a few doubles and you're only out about $10-15 and you just had yourself a good time. The mercantile is an infusers dream. Filled with glass apothecary jars of dried herbs, flowers, spices and so on you can start to craft your own spirits. They even have a neutral spirit at an insane proof so you can cut it by half, infuse and add distilled water to fill the bottle and end up with 2 750 ml bottles of infused amazing. The other mercantile offerings are bitters, little kits and so on and they're grand as well. My heart hopes they expand their distribution soon and somehow make it down to Austin so I can keep enjoying their spirits for years to come. Otherwise I'll just be forced to visit NH every year and stock up! read more

I've been working on bringing everyone I know here and have ended up making lots of trips, and every single time the folks working here are super friendly and engaged. The space is beautiful and they have everything you could ever need to stock a super rad bar. The only downside of the experimental nature of the distillery is that when they run out of something, you don't know if/when they'll make it again. So if you find something you love, stock up! (And bring back the Thai Chili Gin!) read more

I had the pleasure of visiting the Tamworth Distilling shop and it is beautiful. The staff are friendly and professional. The decor is calming and so tastefully dine. Beautiful place to purchase gifts. And you can taste before buying. Also, had the joy of having lunch on the porch of their sister business, Tamworth Distilling Restaurant just a few doors down. Gourmet food at a very reasonable price. I had the roasted chicken salad on sourdough. My friend had the smoked trout on a black sesame bagel. Both delicious. Go and enjoy sitting on the porch and watch the river flowing by. You won't be sorry! read more

Let's start with the craft....excellent....innovative...inspirational. With some very helpful guidance from the "bar" staff, we selected some spirits from the varied and intriguing menu and ventured down to the river to enjoy our flights. The setting was lovely and the mix of cordials, gins, whiskeys and even a vodka that I initially resisted, were outstanding, diverse and very imaginative. Truth be told I didn't care for the Corpse Flower concoction, but I was warned. Now for the after taste. There's a bit of context needed. When you order the flights you're told that you can mix and match anything you like or choose a predetermined selection. I wanted to make my own and was told that some selections were "normal" 5$ for 1/2 ounce pours and others were "premium" at 6$ for each 1/2 ounce. Ok. So the insightful woman behind the bar talked me through options and I ended up with an eclectic mix of normal and premium samplings which as I mentioned above were enjoyed by the river in an idyllic setting. When we came back in anticipating a sizable purchase due to how impressed we were, once in a rare opportunity mindset etc, we were shocked to discover that many of the items we'd tasted were only available in small, 200ml bottles. That was a bummer, I was looking forward to crafting some cocktails of my own with a few of these complex spirits, but the real shock came at the price tag for the tiny bottles. Don't get me wrong, I understand the notion of small batch spirits, though I will admit to being mystified by the exact rationale of not making more of something wonderful as the ingredients themselves didn't appear to be rarified ie no French truffles or Spanish saffron, but the cost delta relative to the tasting experience was completely out of whack. How else would you expect a customer to feel when you charge a 20% premium for a taste and then present them with 3x premium in price for the final product ie a 750 ml bottle of gin I tasted for 5$ per 1/2 ounce was 60$ and the premium options were priced at 65$ for 200ml? I might be a little off in the math, but not in the emotional reaction....we felt shocked, entrapped and the small bottles filled with something we had moments before been looking forward to purchasing were immediately returned to their displays. Then there was the checkout experience...which is not exclusive to Tamworth. I applaud the success a well known Boston startup has had in the food and beverage service industry, but as a customer I often find myself being asked to tip for something I haven't received and in this case being presented with a screen suggesting tips up to 25% for a fairly expensive spirit purchase while the person flipping the screen over pretended not to observe my unease. I did tip the woman who helped us, but I felt awkward and awful about the whole thing and after talking with my wife I have decided to avoid the checkout trap from now on and only tip cash and only after I receive service that I am pleased with. Unfortunately, we left, me reeling with a guilt hungover and unlikely to return which is sad because the location is beautiful and the crafted spirits were excellent. read more

What a surprise pleasure in the middle of the quiet town of Tamworth. The distillery had the largest selection of spirits to try that I've ever seen - ranging from a wonderful rye whisky to interesting cordials. I would suggest splitting a flight of 5 with a friend so that you can really enjoy the range of offerings. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and the spirits were all around wonderful - some of the best I've ever had. All this in a pleasing light filled room. read more

Me and Eric love our spirits so on the way to Boston we made a pit stop at this spot to enjoy some new products. We did a tasting with Charlene and she was so helpful and nice. This was back last week. We tried the gin and the vodkas. I wound up purchasing the Sweet Potato vodka and the Hellfire Bloody Mary mix. He bought the whiskey stones for us and he enjoyed the Bloody Mary and the Chickory root vodka as well. It was a cold dark rainy night and this def got our blood warm and smiling happily. I recommend a stop here if you are in town and while its pretty expensive its worth it. We will be enjoying the bloody mary our next visit with some Bakon Vodka. Good times. This place is awesome. I never would have expected to find something so wonderful in the middle of nowhere. My fiancee and I were looking for something to do and discovered Tamworth Distilling. We decided to do a tasting and split a flight because 5 tastes of liquor for two of us seemed like more than enough. And it was only $5! We enjoyed everything we tasted- they have a ton of interesting flavors that I've never seen before. Our favorites were the Camp Robber and the elderflower gin. Unfortunately we're poor grad students and couldn't afford to buy a bottle of everything like we wanted to, but we will surely be back! read more

Such a cool place in Tamworth! A tasting is $8, you absolutely MUST do it. But even if you don't, their retail shop is worth a look- it's got cute and funky accessories for your home bar and some neat gift items. I fully intend to come back before Christmas and get a ton of gifts here. It's full of funky, cool things that you don't find many places. The alcohol is amazing. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a wider whiskey selection, but that's because they've only been around 2 years and haven't had much time to age things in barrels. I wish they had just a plain gin- I liked the Spruce gin but it was a little over the top for me. But that's okay because their other offerings are magical; the chamomile and thyme liquor is going to be fantastic with lemonade I think, and the Skiklubben Aquavit is one of the greatest things I've tasted. The prices are very reasonable for a small distillery that makes small batches and puts so much time and effort into crafting the perfect drink. So definitely go if you're in the area, you won't regret it. read more

Was anxious to go to this distillery and just not able to coordinate. Went today with a friend and was so disappointed. The girl there was not friendly and or welcoming. Answered questioned when asked. Could only afford to taste 3 items as each small taste was $4.00 + $.50 service tax per sample. WOW!! Asked about prices on Vodka ( which wasn't great) and gin. I purchased the Gin, which I thought was 24.99. I got t bill. ‍ $63.95!!! Unreal - will never return or bring anyone with me. read more

A distillery in the little town of Tamworth? What a find. Definitely check it out, have a tasting and browse all the unique gifts, books and libations available for purchase. Very knowledgeable staff who will make you feel right at home. They develop so many unique spirits that you won't find anywhere else, made with locally-sourced ingredients. I bought a whiskey that also incorporated local apple cider, and a sweet potato vodka made with sweet potatoes from a Tamworth farm. The only down-side? They are only open weekends! read more

I found this place when I was googling things to do around Tamworth. My boyfriend and I had an hour to kill before we could check into our Airbnb so we decided to stop in. It was great! The gentleman working was so nice and personable. He gave great suggestions for the area and made us feel so comfortable. We tried a flight of their different liquors. I'm not a big drinker but it was fun to try. He even told us all about how they're made right there in the distillery. We easily killed an hour. The store is so cute. read more

Wonderful stop at the end of a day skiing. The two women who were staffing on the Saturday of MLK weekend were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. We went a little past closing to shop once we had tasted and chosen our libations, and they were totally understanding. Favorite tastings of the day were the spruce gin, the nature wasser tamarind cordial, camp robber, and Jeff's Naturals Castelvetrano olives for our martinis . Didn't have the Art in the Age chicory vodka which is what we came in for, but we will certainly be back for more. Highly recommend! read more

We had a fabulous tasting here. It is only 2 years old and they had 10 different liquors to try. The servers were knowledgable and friendly. Not your typical vodka, gin or whiskey. A very classy spot. I bought a sweet potato vodka that tastes like Thanksgiving!! read more
