Tampa Bay Pools installed our pool using an obsolete Jandy chlorinator that was discontinued 10 years ago. After 6 months it stopped working. We have had difficulty with the Warranty Department since installation. I had them out 5-6 times to fix the auto leveler and auto filler. They always come when I wasn't there and said they could not find an issue. The last time they came I stayed home from work and showed them specifically. Turns out that both were clogged up. Now they are making us jump through hoops just to get the chlorinator repaired and again they don't believe me that its obsolete. When you get your quotes for installation make sure you require that they use the most current and modern components; have them spell it right out in the contract. Still waiting on the warranty department to come out... its been 2 weeks. read more

I would not recommend Tampa Bay Pools for pool installation, repairs or anything else. Tiles were left broken and rusting. TBP refuses to honor their own warranty for months and months. They never responded to a single telephone call or message. They play the blame game with their own subcontractors. Let me first say that trying to find a reputable pool construction company in this part of Florida is surprisingly difficult. There are very few good reviews out there. It seems that most customers just post their bad experiences. Don't misunderstand me. There are a lot of bad pool builders in Florida. I interviewed who I believed to be the best 4 Builders. I decided on Tampa Bay because of word of mouth recommendations and JC, their sales consultant. We put JC thru the ringer having him design and re-design our pool a dozen or more times. Each time having to adjust the cost. He was very patient with us until we were happy with the design and cost. Tampa Bay builds over 300 pools a year. That means several are under construction each day. Building a pool is a two month messy process. Each step is done by a specific team of contractors. that due just that step every day. All the work is supervised by one of several Superintendents. We had Ken, who did a great job. The pool was completed to our satisfaction in 8 weeks. After startup they send a technician to teach us how to maintain the pool. They call it pool school. These techs know their business. We are now in a 3 year warranty phase. A new pool is like anything else, you have to get the "Bugs" out of it at the beginning. The warranty dept has been very accommodating. So far, 6 wks after startup everything working great. We would not recommend Tampa Bay Pools to anyone, and are unhappy with how this business treats their customers. 1. Sloppy Work: Corners not centered, cement on tiles, holes in coping, careless/rushing lack of detail. 2. Unprofessional: It's like climbing a mountain dealing with the warranty process to get something fixed. Lack of communication, rudeness, and worst of all, workers show up to your house and come into your lanai with no warning or heads up. Closes work orders without ensuring customer is OK with the work. 3. Poor Quality: Will install the basic/cheapest equipment and not provide options for better equipment. Does not take ownership of issues and blames the customer. Points fingers at the customer for not being a pool expert. Overall, we are completely unsatisfied with this business and its employees, and will be telling neighbors, friends, and others to stay away. There are MANY other quality pool contractors around who install much better products and take care of their customers. Do not do business with this company. Been waiting since July of 2020 to have my drain fixed that was broken upon install as well as grout fixed in our pool tile and a pool light that does not work. They Don't return calls or emails. Very poor business model and definitely do not stand behind their work. They blame their vendors for taking over 7 months to make a repair, but the vendors they select to install items for their business is certainly a direct reflection of their business. They obviously hire companies that's the cheapest and not the best quality. Just a 6 month update. Our pool Light is still not fixed, our floor drain is still not fixed, and the grout in our pool edging is still not fixed. All these issues were reported a year ago with constant follow ups and still no resolution. We will be hiring an attorney, getting the items fixed by a different company, and suing Tampa Bay Pools for reimbursement. All of our communication has been documented or recorded. It shouldn't take over a year to get these things fixed, there are no excuses!! read more

Quality of work is outstanding. Sales integrity and follow up are absolutely horrible once you release your final payment. They left rebar in my yard that I had to dispose of myself. They took a chunk out of my stucco with the bucket on the skid steer and patched it but never returned to paint it. They sold me a different remote than what they put on the paperwork. We had a light die, and we have placed 2 phone calls and an online inquiry to get replaced, and they have not responded in over a month. read more

We researched a number of company's before deciding on Tampa Bay pools. Ultimately, their promise for efficient pool completion and their report on their total numbers of completed pools per year indicated to us that there was experience and professionalism leading the way. We could not have been more mistaken. Our woes have spanned issues from the company's lack of communication with us, errors in city permitting, damage to our front yard, and their dependence on outside contractors to complete basic work orders. Their "team" of contractors have had no problem in using our back yard as their personal trash disposal. The continued smell of cigarette butts, foam cups and junk food over our backyard despite communication with the lead project manager reminds us on a daily basis of the mistake we made in contracting with this company. There has been no attention to a timeline or our satisfaction at any point. Currently, we are crossing our fingers that this company will redeem themselves over the 5 month process that we have been subject to. The ladies that answer the phone are the only thing good about the company. I like the pool but the project as of today 1/6/2022 (eight months later is still not complete. Can't get anyone for supervisor, forman or other management staff to return calls, emails. tex. To me they abandon the job that should have been completed 6-7 weeks ago. It says alot when they can't figure out how to deliver dirt so that the grading can be done. I am going to stay true, within hours of the review, maybe coincident, a representative arrived. Most of the issues that could be resolved were. I am grateful the heater issue was an easy fix. We are happy we can use the spa again! If you want multiple issues with the heater, rust spots on your finish, bubblers not working and to top it off, no response back to the issues after paying over 80k, you've come to the right place. Tampa Bay Pools is NOT worth hiring with so many other options out there. They don't respond back and don't seem to care after they installed your pool. Unhappy with the service and warranty, which should be a critical part in your decision making. First and foremost, our design consultant Juli Capella was on point with everything we asked for and then putting it down on paper and 3D video was the cherry on top to bringing our pool to life. Even with a last minute change she made it happen. Our Superintendent Rob Recio was another awesome person to have working and coordinating everything for the pool and more. Constantly giving updates and stopping by to verify the work had been done to me and my wife's standards speaks highly. Made us feel like he takes pride in his work and treats you like it was his pool and things needed to be above and beyond. He even gave pointers on things that are not pool related. I couldn't ask for more from such a great team. And for those worried about pricing and time....my pool was cheaper with Tampa Bay Pools and with more accessories added than the competing 4 i had contacted and over priced me for a basic square in my back yard. Juli added character and numerous accessories to make our pool stand out and unique. Rob got the pool completed in less than 2.5 months! We were trying to build a pool with this company. Clearly they are far too busy with new neighborhood building, to show any customer service to an individual homeowner. First let me say that the salesman, JC was the only good part about this company. The office staff is incredibly rude, and unhelpful. I only called the office 2 times. I left a message to receive a return call from the owners, and then another day to actually speak with Dan or Ken only to have my calls ignored. The office staff, and especially Debbie, speaks so rudely that I can't even grasp how they have stayed in business this long. 2.5 stars on yelp for a reason. I can't urge anyone enough. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Edit: I was told Tampa Bay Pools: 1) Would not provide what the bank required to do the financing wanted. Fabulous pool. Dramatic lightning highlights the beautiful colors in the tile and base. The spa is a wonderful addition. The equipment is top notch. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Tampa Bay Pools was extremely unprofessional and consistently showed a disregard for any semblance of customer service throughout our five-month process with them. We kicked off the pool process in early September due Matthew Lent's promise of quality, service, and speed of the process. When we signed up, Matthew told us the pool would be finished by New Years at the very latest, and likely would be completed several weeks before that. When we hit the Thanksgiving holidays, we still had no hole dug in our yard, and a few days before Thanksgiving Amy from the office reached out to tell us that we were scheduled to have our pool dug that week. Because we had family in town, we asked if they could start digging the following week, but ONLY if the process wouldn't be delayed further than the following week. Amy assured us that the process would start the very next week, or the week after that at the latest. It then took Tampa Bay Pools three weeks to get us back on the schedule, when we were promised a two week delay at the most. When we called to complain about the delay, NOT ONCE did anyone apologize for not being able to honor the company's commitment, and we were basically told that it was out of their control. After the process got back underway, when the deck footers were set it was clear that they were not in the same position as indicated in the 3D rendering provided when we first signed up. When we informed the company that these needed to be changed, our contractor Raymond said that they were in the same place they were supposed to be according to the blueprints. When I showed him the renderings, he suggested I reach out to Matthew Lent, who created the drawings. Matthew's renderings failed to show part of an adjacent deck correctly, so there was no way for us to tell that his measurements were incorrect because his rendering was incorrect. Matthew tried to tell us that it was our fault and that we should have measured the pool ourselves to double check, which is absurd and exactly what we are paying Tampa Bay Pools to do so that we don't' have to build our own pool. Matthew refused to eat any of the cost associated with the additional decking, and finally Raymond did a good job of involving the owners of the company, who finally agreed that the issue was the company's fault and that they would pay for it. However, this entire ordeal caused another three-week delay on the process. At one point, I left a one-star review due to my frustration, and Raymond offered to do their best to finish the pool by the end of January in exchange for me removing the review, which was 4 weeks after our initial deadline. Needless to say, the company did not even come close to hitting this new target. When the pool finally was finished, the company left significant amounts of trash (including food wrappers and beverage cans) scattered throughout our property. To add one final screw-up to a miserable process, one of the last crews took our gate off its hinges and left without putting it back on. When we called to ask that they come put the gate back on, we were told that no more crews were scheduled to come to our house so they wouldn't fix the gate that they dismantled. Finally, when it came time to set up the "pool school" appointment to walk through how to operate the equipment and take care of the pool, we were told an appointment wasn't available for two weeks, which is unfathomable considering the company should know how far along our construction process was and should have been able to plan well in advance to ensure we received an appointment in a timely manner. Aside from the specifics above, the company communicated poorly throughout and it often took several unanswered phone calls to get any information from anyone. The pool itself appears well built, but we'll see how it holds up over time. read more

During the building process, my pool collapsed four times. I could not reach the Supervisor in charge of the job because he was in the bars in Ybor City according to his account and his supervisor's account. The plumbing was installed backwards twice. The electric was installed incorrectly. In addition, they almost caused a fire at my panel box. The burn evidence remains to this day. Tampa Bay Pools even installed the drain unevenly. My gutter leaks. Of most important significance, the pebble tech coating inside my pool is marred. They refuse to accept responsibility and want me to pay to have it acid washed. They lie, mislead and don't return phone calls for weeks on end. They sub-contract all of their work from digging, forming, plumbing, electrical, coating, treating, pool school, pavers, screening, etc. The Job Supervisor rarely shows up to check on the work. You get the picture. Tampa Bay Pools sells you a dream and delivers a nightmare. I am surprised that Pebble Tech associates their brand with Tampa Bay Pools. Overall, we are pleased with our pool! We built in the worst possible time of year and it rained constantly, but Ken and his crew did their best to try and keep us on schedule. They worked diligently to make sure that we were happy with the process. Job site was kept pretty clean, the work crew was never rude or disrespectful and if we had an issue with anything, all we had to do is call Ken and he addressed it right way. They made sure we were happy with the finished product and sent someone out to show us how to operate everything once they were done. We just had Julie from Tampa Bay Pools come out to give an estimate for building a pool. With limited access to our backyard, we knew that beginning this process would present some challenges. However, I was definitely not prepared for how rude Julie was. She didn't even bother to say hello and seemed annoyed by literally everything we said and asked. I completely understand a company being unable or unwilling to take on a project but the delivery of how she relayed that message was absolutely uncalled for! I know pool builders are in demand more than ever because of COVID and that they are likely being more selective with the projects that they are taking on but I would highly discourage anyone I know from dealing with a company that begins the pool building process in the manner that she did. read more

Unresponsive... and when they do respond they are RUDE. The pool is a year old has already broken in multiple ways. They were over 10 weeks LATE. After filling the pool with water they were weeks behind to schedule pool school so we could not clean the pool ourselves(they didn't even add chemicals or salt). Despite us cleaning the pool every day with what we had the, pool became dirty and green and they told us we would have to hire someone ourselves to clean it even though they told us on 3 different occasions someone would come out and that person just never showed. Thankfully, the pool guy we hired informed us that they actually messed up the installation... We installed a self-closing/self-latching gate per requirements THAT WAS INSPECTED AND OFFICIALLY APPROVED BY THE CITY. They broke the gate, told us they would fix it, then never fixed the gate. We subsequently failed inspections. Now a year later, we are being informed that we will need to pay an additional $600 for another survey due to their incompetence. I posted my review on Google, then coincidentally several "positive reviews" were posted for them by "people." We had bids from 5 different companies, we picked Tampa Bay Pools even though it was the most expensive because we thought they would give the best service. The second we signed the contract they flipped a switch and didn't care about performing as promised. This entire process has been a nightmare and I have felt completely helpless. We have tried contacting the owner. We have left messages with no response. read more

I am purchasing a newer home with a pool that was installed by Tampa Bay pools. The pool is less than 5 yrs old and was contracted out by West Bay homes but it developed a leak underground which has caused the pavers to sink in above the waterfall. I contacted TB pools to see if they could work with me in defraying the cost partially to repair the issue. It is definitely a workmanship issue and they are failing to stand behind their work. It took several attempts to even have anyone from their company return my calls before they informed me that they would not stand behind their work. I CAN'T say enough amazing things about Tampa Bay Pools ... from start to finish our project was carefully created, planned, and executed. We first planned our pool with Juli C when we reached out for a quote and consultation. She was fabulous, well versed in all options, and also made our design come to life. Very quick to respond and had great input as well. Highly recommend having her design/quote your pool if you get the chance! After our wait was up and the project started, we were introduced to our project manager, Jeremy. He gave us his cell number from day 1, and we always reached out to him with all questions and concerns. He was out to our project weekly, usually multiple times a week and ALWAYS was out promptly after a crew would finish, to check on the job and work that had been done. He was well informed, always up to date with what was going on, and overall an amazing PM who we were very lucky to have! Another thing that made this go smoothly for us would be that EVERY single crew out here that was with TBP truly did an amazing job. I'm talking every single one. Dig day, rebar, electricians, plumbers, screen guys, pavers (did I mention they worked CHRISTMAS EVE to finish our paver job...) I mean truly it was incredible how great every crew and company we worked with was. It says a lot about the pool company you choose only working with reputable crews and tradesmen. And last but not least, everytime I called the office, the office staff was so kind and always seemed very organized. Never annoyed by my questioning and overall just very pleasant and easy to work with (even when I called to tell them there was a baby alligator in the bottom of our pool before we filled it!!!). Oh, and on top of all the other communication, they also email you with any major steps coming your way in your project to keep you up to date. I wont lie, we went into building a pool hearing lots of horror stories about pool building in general and what a hassle it can be...We really hit no major road bumps and don't even have one negative story to share about our project. The company is great as long as you don't have Any issues. The owner does not take responsibility for the actions of his employees and uses false pretense when dealing with customers. The company falsely advertised membership in 2 professional organizations for over 3 years and was cited with an ethics violation by the FSPA. My salesman and previous owner, represented himself as the chairman of the board even though he is not even a board member. My project manager had an inappropriate relationship with my wife during the construction of my pool, beware of Ken Hogue. He also used that relationship to refuse to fix work that was done improperly. The owner and employees will lie to protect each other and refuse to do promised work, this company is profit driven and does not stand behind their work or the family values it advertises. read more

After only 1 year, all of the coping came up and pavers began to sink. The process of getting the repairs completed took 3 months and were never completely finished. We were left without a usable pool for much of the summer. When work was done it was done sporadically and a large mess was left behind. I had to pick up trash and had to haul away the coping that was removed. No matter how hard I tried I could rarely get someone in charge on the phone to get updates. Communication and commitment to quality are certainly not of importance to this company. I would avoid this company at all costs! Call Larsen Pools if you want to build a pool. Call any other pool company. Nightmare. Dug the first shovel of dirt on June 8th and finally installed the fire bowls on November 19th.

Accountability Zero! Respect for customer's time and property Zero! Keeping their contract promises close to none! Communication almost close to none! Honesty Zero! And your sanity is gone after signing a contract with these unprofessional human beings. So, May last year we started negotiations, June ground was broken and since then the pool construction has been the most dreadful sluggish process of our lives. Our payments were all timely and the pool has been paid in full as our part of the agreement. However, their final work is not complete and the final county permit was denied twice already, as they don't follow the proper instructions from the inspector. They even had to renew an extra six month permit with the county, as the original had expired. The communication is so bad and their promises so untrue that countless times we were on the phone with them being told, "We are on our way to your house now!" Unfortunately, these were untrue statements and they never showed up countless times. Bottom line, our pool work is partially finished, our lawn can't be fixed till they finish their work and mud is all over the front of the house, as they don't clean up their mess properly and neighbors are rightfully complaining. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS TRAP! We failed to go with other companies that only take their final payment upon full completion of their work and final county inspection approved. Tampa Bay Pools was referred to us by a friend who is in the pool business in another city. They had also built our neighbor's pool and he was very happy with their service. We have absolutely nothing but wonderful things to say about the service, level of professionalism, and care that we've received from the entire team. Our job was not an easy one and we knew that we were 'peeling an onion' with trying to rehab an old pool in questionable condition. We were thrown a couple of curve balls during the process due to shoddy work done by the previous owner of our home, but Ken and crew handled it all well, explained everything, and got the pool fixed and looking fabulous. I highly recommend Tampa Bay Pools. We were impressed right from the moment we met the representative in our home. After interviewing several companies we chose TBP because they are a family owned business with a solid reputation and they use the money you give them to build your pool only (not to pay debts, etc). Our project manager was easy to communicate with and returned every call (which was a lot) that I made to answer all of the questions that came up during the build. I had a date in mind that I wanted the pool to be built by and though weather issues that were beyond anyone's control tried to get in our way, TBP found a way to get it done. They wanted us to be happy and did everything they could to ensure we were. The pool is gorgeous and everything we hoped it would be. I am they use high quality materials and their staff is professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this company if you're in the market for a pool. Where to start. It's been two years since my pool was completed. Almost Everything look at the pool I get pissed off about the process I decided on Tampa bay pools due to there great sales pitcht what a easy process this would be if I chose them. "You only need to be home a couple times during the process. We make this process very simple and All of our people know what needs to be done. We have everything in order before it starts. Tampa bay pools was not the least expensive. Actually the most expensive bid that I received. I decided to go with them due to the above line of crap They sent someone out who was suppose to string out the pool shape and talk about any possible changes. The guy shows up a hour late. He was going to be late for his next appointment so he did basically nothing. I said that I thought that I understood everything but was looking forward to having the shape and size outlined. He said use my water hoses to figure it out. I cloud call if there was a problem. I bought two extra hoses and lined it out as best that i could. It looked fine. They were also suppose to send someone to trace the sprinkler lines so that we could figure out what was what and reroute them. That never happened. The ground breaking crew showed up (a month late) after a $20k deposit They were like a bunch of animals. They tore up everything that was remotely in there way. The sprinkler pipes were everywhere like spaghetti. This was October. No rain. I has spent over 40k on landscaping that needed water. I went out to talk to one of the Workers. I wanted to determine the schedule so that I could contact my irrigation guy to repair the mess. The guy said that I neede to wait for the one in charge. While talking to the worker. He tells me that he's very thankful to the company for hiring him. He had been in prison for 12 years. No one else would hire him. That made me feel good about the people whom were wandering around my property The guy in charge shows up. I approached his very calmly and tried to ask about the mess that they had made of my irrigation and that I needed to understand the process so that I could have the irrigation repaired. I wasn't asking him to pay. Only wanted to know when he would be a a good point for the irrigation guy to start. He went crazy. Starting yelling " get your ass back in that house. I know what the fuck I'm doing. I don't need you to tell me anything". Short version of his nasty trash mouth. I called Tampa bay pools and told them to get off my property if these are the contractors that you use. I don't want anything to do with you. They assured me that this was an isolated incident and that they would handle it. I never saw that crew again workers constantly showing up,who didn't know what they needed to do. Asking me 100 questions and pulling me away from my work. So much for the streamline process. I realized that the designer had given 2 feet of walk space on one end of the pool. What?? There was over 1500 sf of pool deck why 48 inches. They charged me several hundred $ to change the plans. 5 minuites on the computer. Might I add that the job supervisor very rarely showed up or called. Only if I called him wit a issue. Even then he rarely showed his face. The original plans called for two carved travertine fountains that would sit on travertine pedestals. I received as call with "good news" they were having trouble getting the solid carver travertine stone fountains. They would give me resign (hard plastic) ones for the same price. What sports. Let me pay you for hand carved stone, you supply plastic. I said no way. Forget the fountains. They charged for the plumbing and left pipes sticking out of the pool deck. I said remove it. Do not buy a pool from this company! They do not stand behind their work! Our pool is just two years old and the tiles are falling off the the wall of our infinity pool. We called for help and Tampa Bay Pools refused to even come out and look at the pool. They told us they were too busy building pools to do repairs! read more

Horrible customer service. We were forced to use Tampa Bay Pools because of our home builder. 6 months later they still haven't completed the work orders we have complained about even before we closed on the house. I'm just hoping the pool holds up because any problems will take months to resolve. Will never use this company again. read more

After 2.5 years the rebar was bleeding through the side of the pool. After calling over and over for a three week period they said the shell was warrantied however this may not be considered the shell and they would get back. They would not even come out to asses the situation. They in turn gave us the # of the people who applied the finish. They came out and said it was indeed the rebar and gave us a quote and said this was a construction issue not theirs. After we again contacted Tampa Bay pools they said they would not help with the repair and at that point we asked if a manager or owner would please call and that has yet to happen after 3 weeks at this point. read more
