I just sold my no-longer-drive-able car to Tammy's Towing and they gave $200 including the tow from my residence. I'm giving five stars because...
1. They offered me the most cash. I had called about eight other places and those other places were offering things like $135 at best*, and that's if they even were willing to buy my make/model.
2. They're legit. They're the only place that brought up needing my title and ID before I even asked. (You need to watch out for scammers who don't do a proper sale and then charge you a fee for towing and storing the car that is technically still yours.)
3. They're responsive. The two times I've left messages, they've returned my call within 20 minutes or less.
4. They have the best hours of any place in Fort Wayne that buys junked cars: Currently 8am-8pm, seven days a week.
5. They were easy to make an appointment with. They came within a little over an hour of my calling.
6. Everyone I talked to over the phone was friendly and professional and so was the person who did the tow. I think his name was Josh/Joshua.
Honestly, 1 and 2 were the only factors that would ultimately influence my choice of who to sell it to. This is a one-time interaction and the goal is to sell the car and get the most for it. That said, factors 3-6 made the unpleasant experience of losing my car a little less bad, so I'm glad they were so nice.
*To be fair, one place offered "between $150 and 250" --- but when I called them again and explained that I could only sell it to them if they could guarantee a higher minimum, and offered further details about my car and even photos, they said that no facts about the car (like the exact date of my new-ish battery or proof of the condition all four tires were in) could lead them to change it to $200-250. I get their desire to protect themselves, but every other place was willing/able to state a specific amount. I'm not gonna ask a tow truck driver to come out unless I know I intend to sell, and I can't agree to sell without knowing a price. Tammy's Towing was 100% transparent and true to their word. read more
