Math has been a fairly strong subject on my part until I got into ap calc ab -- I struggled so much in the class is was taking a mental and emotional toll on my health... I was against getting a tutor at first in hope I could overcome this hiccup on my own, but I'm so glad I eventually caved. Afshin has exponentially helped my understanding and application of math to another level that I could not have done on my own with a teacher that I had. Afshin is committed to his tutoring and he makes me feel very comfortably with my math skills and seeks to strengthen my weaknesses. From my perspective, studying for calc is no longer a chore; in fact, I look forward to each lesson we have ^-^ He's the best Tammy had also helped me prep for ACT/SAT and we begin by going at a steady pace so that she can get a better understanding of my strengths/weaknesses -- like Afshin, Tammy works towards enhancing them. Once you experience her process in prepping for these tests, it'll be like experiencing being mind blown over and over again at how it's not truly as intimidating as it seems. Overall, Miss Tammy and Uncle Afshin is like another family for me that wants me to succeed in my own way -- not by someone else's guidelines (if that makes sense) read more

If you are looking for an extremely sharp, knowledgeable, well rounded person for your tutor/mentor.. look no further than Tammy Chang. I came to her in Jan 2020 to prep for the GRE to apply to business school. She helped me study as well as put together my application by helping with the essay and reworking my resume. I'm happy to say I got accepted into Pepperdine part time MBA program, but it doesnt stop there. Tammys knowledge is what I came to her for, but she also has a great professional network as well. As we got to know each other I told her my wife and I were looking at homes, and I asked if she had any contacts in Real estate. Without hesitation she connected us with someone she trusted- Stefanie Barela- an All Star real estate agent, who helped my wife and I as first time home buyers secure a home within 2 weeks! All this is to say Tammy's MBA knowledge and test prep are spectacular and there truly is no one like her, but the value she can bring goes far beyond. She treats all her students like family and she will always help with whatever is in their best interest. Thank you for everything Tammy!!! read more

We are so excited! Our daughter improved her ACT score by 5 points after she began studying with Tammy! At first we weren't sure if it is going to work. We never used tutoring for exams before, and definitely not virtually. The big concern also was that after paying a decent amount of money the ACT score would remain the same or even get worse. Don't get me wrong, Tammy has a very reasonable fee, but for us raising 3 kids every dollar counts. What we like about Tammy is how strict but yet supportive she is with teens and how accommodating she is in regard to the schedule. And obviously in regard to contents, explanations and strategies Tammy definitely worked her magic. The results were very unexpected to us. We were just talking to our daughter about how competitive some of the colleges are that she is interested in and how her ACT score might not cut it. Now out of a sudden she is way above average. Unbelievable. Thank you so much, Tammy! Definitely recommend. read more

Definitely one of the best ACT prep tutors out there. Much better priced than other tutors and other ACT prep companies. The teaching methods used are quite effective, focusing on gradual development and building a strong foundation in grammar, algebra, trigonometry, reading comprehension, and many more subjects. I can vouch that I have been to many other ACT prep locations and had a hard time learning new topics that I did not know beforehand due to their strict scheduling, but Tammy Chang Test Prep really puts the student first and not the company to ensure that the student has full knowledge in all subjects required for the ACT. In a few months of tutoring, I have had a 5-9 point increase in every subject category. Tammy Chang Test Prep is also very good at communicating to the student, texting to their phone the day before that there will be ACT tutoring the next day. I can say that Tammy Chang Test Prep is one of the best, if not the best. Highly Recommend! read more

I am currently a third year Business Major with a concentration in Accounting at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo interested in pursuing an MBA. This summer I was looking for a tutor and am beyond lucky to have found Tammy. From the first time I spoke with her on the phone, it was evident that she was passionate about her work and helping her students reach their academic and professional goals. During each of our sessions Tammy challenges me, while simultaneously growing my confidence which allows me to feel prepared for the GRE exam. She is familiar with the exam and is able to strategically help me find solutions to difficult problems. Furthermore, although I am working with her remotely she always takes the time to chat with me about my personal life and endeavors. I truly couldn't have asked for a better tutor or mentor and am excited to see how I perform on the upcoming exam. Thank you for all of your support Tammy, I appreciate it more than you know! read more

Wondering how to improve your ACT score or how to bolster your college applications? Look no further than Mrs. Tammy Chang. I started tutoring with Mrs. Tammy for the ACT extremely late, literally started preparing for the ACT 3 months out from my test date. However, our limited time together did not at all hinder the effect she had on my test results, helping me score a total composite score of 35 on my ACT with a perfect score in math! I would've never scored as high or have been as confident had I not met with Mrs. Tammy. Not only was she helping me prep for the ACT, but she was also helping me with my CSU, UC, and common applications. I'll tell you right now, my essays would've never been as pristine had it not been for her proofreading and suggestions. College application counselors are nowhere near as helpful and compassionate compared to Mrs. Tammy. I definitely recommend her as she will definitely make your time worth it! read more

I turned to Tammy after taking the GRE twice and scoring 160 on the Quant section both times. I wanted to raise my score a few more points to be competitive for MS in Data Science programs, and through biweekly meetings with Tammy a month before the exam, I was able to boost my school to a 166! (I also got 163 on the verbal section - Analytic writing score is pending ^_^) In addition to explaining problems well, pointing my weaknesses, and being the most affordable option of a private tutor in the area, she has a good sense of what the best study materials are/how to use them effectively, which was ultimately what I think boosted my score. She continued to be in touch with me to check in and offer help, even when the lessons I'd paid for were finished. I'm very glad I was able to find her, highly recommend! read more

When I needed tutoring to finish my last math class Pre-Calculus to graduate with my bachelors degree I went on a search for a good fit. Not only were MathPlanet a good fit but they were affordable and beyond knowledgeable on my subject at hand. Mrs. Tammy was very sincere with her efforts in making sure I had all the tools to be pass and be successful going forward. Tara was incredible and showed me many short cuts to help me remember all the formulas needed in each section we covered. I brought my grade up from a D to a B in just 4 weeks of tutoring. Mr. Afshin also helped me pass General Chemistry 1 as well with a better understanding of dimensional analysis. I will most definitely be back to get help prepping for my GRE next year while applying for grad school. read more

I started out with SAT tutoring with Tammy and my SAT score improved over 100 points, but even then I decided that the SAT wasn't a good fit for me. Tammy introduced me to ACT and then I started ACT tutoring with Tammy and reached the eligibility needed for a college scholarship. Tammy is good at explaining things in detail and is especially helpful if you learn through examples. She does not sugar coat things and truly puts effort into not only explaining concepts but making sure the student understands it as well. She guided me through my college application and helped clarify and questions I had with my college essay. Throughout the essay writing process, she helped me reflect on my strengths and weaknesses and helped me amplify them in my application. read more

I started test prep with tammy in the beginning of this year and I had a lower score than i would've liked on the PSAT and to be honest didn't think i would have improved by as much as 250 points. She started with giving my ACT practice tests which were a lot easier than the SAT practice tests I have done and learning about the ACT (about time efficiency and answering questions correctly) I was able to better prepare myself for the practice test for SATs that she gave me. Her teaching is to over prepare me for the PSAT and at first i didn't think it would be effective but now that I look back on my other scores I see that i've improved quite a bit with her teaching and my confidence in my ability to succeed in college I would say has also increased. read more

Tammy's approach to tutoring aligned with my learning style perfectly. It is very clear that she has had years of experience working with all kinds of students and knows the ins and outs of all things relating to education. She was able to identify key skills that I lacked right off the bat and targeted them in an efficient manner. In just a few weeks of instruction, I was able to raise my ACT score by four points to near perfect. Not only is she very knowledgeable about standardized tests, she also provided valuable insight about my future and how other students have achieved their goals. Her experience and involvement in higher level education make her a very valuable resource provider, and I can't thank her enough for her help. read more

During this uncertain time and having had two ACTs canceled, Tammy worked with our daughter and calmed her nerves right up until she tested. Initially leery of how online tutoring might work, Tammy was the perfect fit as she got to know our daughter, honed in on her skills but also determined where she needed the most support. Our daughter's score improved 4 points to an almost perfect score and she is now relieved to have testing behind her and be able to focus on the application process. Tammy provided her with new skills and boosted her confidence, a gift she will take with her to college and beyond. Thank you, Tammy, and good luck to you and your future students, they should feel confident in choosing you as their tutor! read more

I am studying for my ACT and Tammy has helped me so much both academically and mentally regarding the test. My scores and overall study outlook have improved very much since our start and I have good feelings about my next ACT testing date :) I very much recommend her because not only does she greatly help you prepare for good scores, but she shows real care and empathy towards the student and family she works with. If I have ever been stressed or worried Tammy always has kind and calming words that guide me back on the path to success. She is also very fun to talk to and makes a great friend and teacher for whoever she works with! Thank you Tammy read more

Mrs. Chang is an excellent tutor who helped me passed the CBEST test. For someone who struggles in math and comprehension, she showed me many ways of how to tackle the math section and guided me through the reading. I would practice and bring my questions at the start of our tutoring sessions and I would understand better than I did before. She even gave me positive feedback and encouragement before the day of the test. She is an awesome tutor and I am glad that my parents pushed me to learn from Mrs. Chang. Because compared to other tutors of the past they do not come close to how structured, patient, and experienced Mrs. Chang has been for me. read more

Mr. Afshin is great. I'm currently studying for my AP Calculus class with him, and he's very thorough in his teaching methods and explains the concept behind the problems very clearly. I now have a better understanding and grasp of the math in general, especially where Calculus is concerned. I'm much more confident in my ability to solve problems and do well in tests and exams. I also feel more confident in my skills and understanding of general math concepts that I may have forgotten or not encountered before. He's also made math fun for me again, which makes me want to learn more of it. read more

I am using Tammy for PSAT/ACT/SAT tutoring in order to prepare for the test. She has been really helpful in raising my scores in practice tests and preparing me for any test situations to come. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor. I also used her daughter Tara for math tutoring last year and was able to get my B up to an A easily. She helped me better understand math concepts and how to solve them so I definitely recommend her for tutoring also. Overall, Tammy is an amazing tutor that is able to get the results that parents and kids want. read more

I found Tammy through a simple Google search and I'm really glad I did. I was studying for the GRE trying to get into a top MBA program and I was playing pro football and hadn't been in school for a while. Tammy met me where I was at and pushed me every day to get better, she coaches you like an athlete which I liked a lot. I ended up getting into every Ivy League MBA program I applied to in round 2 and got multiple Dean's scholarships including a full ride. If you're serious about improving your score and reaching your goals I definitely recommend her! read more

Can't recommend Tammy and Tara enough!! Powerful Tutors!! Both Tammy and Tara helped our son achieve a higher score on the ACT! Being a student athlete his available hours varied from week to week.
