The Naples Historical Society is also the steward of the Naples Historical Society Foundation, Inc. which raises funds for historical preservation. The headquarters of the Naples Historical Society is the Historic Palm Cottage which is the oldest house in Naples. The 3,500 sq ft house was built in 1895 to be used as a summer cottage by Walter N. Haldeman, the owner and editor of the Louisville, Kentucky Courier Journal and Times. The house has now been turned into a museum. On May 24, 1982, Palm Cottage was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Tours are given of the house and educational programs are staged there. The Naples Historical Society purchased the 1/2 acre lot next to the house and turned it into a cottage garden that can be rented for events. Administration and archives is held at another historic property, a house built in 1910 that is a half block from Palm Cottage. Some of the programs the Naples Historical Society implements are the Naples History Tours, Christmas at Palm Cottage, Garden Side Chickee Chats, fund raising events, and guest speakers. Palm Cottage is currently closed due to the pandemic but I still enjoyed paying it a visit. I had to make my own history tour but I look forward to coming back to take the Naples Historical Society's downtown history tour that includes the cottage. Anyone who is interested in history will want to avail themselves of the excellent programs provided by the historical society.

There was a crowd gathered to see the sunset but it was not overly crowded or anything. We still found a good spot to stand and watch. After sundown, we walked on the beach to enjoy the moment as the weather was pleasant (in late December). The beach area was clean and it's in a nice neighborhood. There's paid parking nearby. Might be our last trip here.

Our four-hour trip was the perfect mix of relaxation, wildlife, and adventure. Captain Jessica and her crew went above and beyond, providing iced drinks, snacks, and buckets for collecting shells. They took us to Old Hickory Island, where we found some amazing shells, a Pygmy octopus, conch, and a sand dollar. Throughout the trip, Captain Jessica shared her knowledge about the local ecosystem, answering all of our questions about the dolphins, manatees, mangroves, and the area. One of the highlights was when she spotted a pod of dolphins. She carefully brought the boat alongside them, and we got to watch them swim and jump in our boat's wake--it was unforgettable! Communication was outstanding from start to finish. We had to reschedule twice due to weather. Captain Jessica made the process incredibly easy and stress-free. She is friendly, welcoming, and shared lots of great local recommendations for places to visit and things to do. If you're looking to support a fantastic local business while having an unforgettable day on the water, I can't recommend Captain Jessica and Island Time Dolphin & Shelling Cruise enough. My mom and I took our first tour with Kim and Trevor on Sunday. I've been shelling since I was a…read morelittle kid. It was always a race of "who's going to find the first periwinkle?!". But if we're talking real talk, my dream has always been to find the Queen of conchs. The Florida state shell and that's exactly what I found! I couldn't have done it without help. Kim and Trevor were awesome tour guides. This memory is definitely one for the books. The shelling is amazing and you'll find all your favorites, from lighting welks to bandit tulips, to smaller conchs, to whole sand dollars. Kim was very knowledgable and Trevor was nothing shy of a good captain. I highly suggest taking this beautiful tour with the most awesome crew! We got the gelato and came back to the park so my kids could check it out. Cambier Park is located in the heart of Downtown Naples. It's a huge playground with tons of options for the kids. I love that there's a Little Free Library at the entrance of the park too. There's a cute area with English to Spanish translations for some basic words. I love these old wooden style parks because it reminds me of my childhood. But sadly I feel like these types of parks will all be updated with new and modern parks with PLASTIC!!! Interesting choice too considering how hot Florida gets and the plastic gets scorching hot in the sun!!! Hmmmmm. These are older photos and I believe the park is currently approved for new park design renovations with completed date for April 2027. "Naples City Council chose the vendor for a new playground at Cambier Park. The design is described as a Swiss Family Robinson-inspired tree concept".

Austin was extremely informative, answering all of our questions and provided us with facts and information about the ocean around us. What was so special about Austin was his dedication and respect to the ocean life. He couldn't have been more compassionate to the surrounding boaters, surrounding fishermen/women, and wildlife. He went slow around the manatees and really appreciated all that was around us. Absolutely amazing man and company - I wouldn't choose anyone else on the island!

The grounds are so diverse and so well taken care of. You can download a map that will help direct you as you make your way around the gardens. There is a huge parking lot and many scooters for those who need them. The gift shop has a lot of unique and fairly priced items.
