First and probably most important, this is a lakeside restaurant and convenience store. Alongside the restaurant they have boat gas, a small boat launch, and a pretty well stocked convenience store. If you are on the lake it's extremely handy for all of these things. There is a gas/shopping dock as well as a dock for those eating/staying longer. There is also ample beach where you can beach your boat or jetski. The store has non-ethanol gas for your boating needs as well as most things you could need at a quick stop type store. They have ice cream and other treats as well. The restaurant is mostly outdoor seating due to being on the water. I would describe the food as sort of upscale diner. They have the expected diner/family restaurant fair such as burgers and shrimp (my personal favorite) but also have proper steaks and other items you wouldn't expect from a normal diner. Everything I've had has been exactly what I wanted so I have no complaints of the food. They also have a ton of beach side seating for events (mostly concerts) and that's great if you just want to grab a beer and sit. It gets busy on Friday and weekends, especially for dinner so be prepared. I like to go through the week when it's a little less full. read more

The restaurant is a disgrace to food! This place use to have some of the best food around at competitive prices, but since the place sold they've increased prices SO much! The Sunday night wait staff act like they don't want to be there, and the cooks sound madder than a wet hen at the wait staff. Our food was cold and well overcooked! The dab of gravy on the mashed potatoes looked like somebody had puked it up. Owners are obviously trying to increase their profit, but to serve in tiny disposable bowls is an expense that can be avoided. Just use the plate that it's brought to the table on. Hopefully, the place can get it back together like they were last summer/fall, or they're going to be losing ALOTTA business. I know we won't be back.....mainly because they've priced themselves right out of our budget. read more

We bwould give it a zero if you had the option. we have been dining here for years and years. Through many management changes. We had steak and flounder/shrimp. The flounder was just okay. The shrimp were overcooked and half so tiny you couldn't get them on a fork. The ribeye was 1/2 big globs of fat. I could expect 1/3 but "HALF"?? and the remainder had tiny fat globules all throughout it. I couldn't eat it. the vegetables were horrible. please don't order the pinto beans or the fried squash. The service was very poor. we had not been there for about a year. Totally disappointed and regret spending the money. We will not be back. read more

We used to love eating there but not anymore. The quality of the food has changed and they raised the prices and decreased the portions. When you walk in you're not greeted as if it's just too much for them. The new owners don't even acknowledge you. We used to love the breakfast but now it's awful. The bacon is deep fried, the sausage is terrible and the biscuits look and taste old. Who wants to pay $10 for a pancake w/ nasty sausage or bacon. Let me mention the city ham just awful. They used to have a thick slice of smokey ham and now it's a cheap deli thin sliced ham. read more

I popped in here today as a vendor and left as a customer. Aubrey, and the ladies at the front desk were fun & professional. I stepped over to the Marina side and had a late lunch. My order was taken and I sat on the patio to enjoy the views as I waited for my food to come out. The restaurant wasn't as diverse as I would have preferred but that has never stopped me from enjoying myself anywhere. After a short wait my food was served to me I ordered grilled shrimp, fried okra, green beans, and red coleslaw. My food was very hot and tasty I was glad that my shrimp was not over season as I am trying to watch my salt intake. I broke the ice on the patio and begin a conversation with some Patriots and the table behind me and after that we are became buddies and one lady came over and told me all that I have been missing out on. The restaurant has has karaoke and sometimes live band that perform over the weekend. I enjoy my food the views and the company today at Tamarac Marina I can truly say that I stumbled upon a hidden gem. They had dessert on the inside but I didn't want to overindulge. The food was moderately priced and you pay on the inside at the counter when you are done. A convenience store and marina combination isn't bad for Thursday! I will be back soon one of my servers Gabby was given hugs to regulars that were sitting on the patio and she came over to see if I needed anything and I said I wanted to hug too and she actually gave me one thank you I needed that. read more

I've had lunch several times at Tamarac numerous times over the years.I wanted to try an evening meal.They offer so many different options all thru the week but Friday and Saturday is Steaks,Seafood along with their normal menu.We met some friends and we might have waited on a table 10-15 minutes. Our friends chose The Ribeye and jumbo shrimp and shared it.Some how my wife kept hinting we share a plate also.My plans was to knock that steak and shrimp out all alone.But to keep peace and a ride home I agreed. Our food came out fairly quickly. I like you have a choice of vegetables if you want something different that just fries or backed potato.We decided on a baked sweet potato and a side of white slaw since we had the jumbo shrimp along with our steak.Our ribeye had a good charred taste and the shrimp was fried just right.We have already started talking about going back for a shrimp and flounder combo.Our service was great.And watching the folks coming and going on the lake was good to. You know the saying about packed parking lots at restaurants? Yeah, it's true for this place!! It was our first time eating here, on top of it being a Friday night.... We were able to quickly snag a table (seriously thought it'd be a long wait). I was pleasantly surprised; the service was good, the food was excellent! Fresh made tarter and cocktail sauces!!! This place is usually a go to spot to get food and eat on the boat when we go out on the water with my parents. We tried to go grab a late lunch here yesterday and it was packed. Even though the state has made it mandatory to wear a mask and social distance, this was clearly not being done here. Everyone was basically on top of each other and NO ONE was wearing a mask. That being said, we left still hungry because we didn't feel good about getting anything there. I am however thankful for some of the businesses in that area actually taking this pandemic seriously so we choose to go elsewhere when visiting family and will not be going back here. read more

Food was good but the server we had was not in the mood. It's been a couple days since we've been because I didn't want to review out of emotions or specifically call them out. I expect the bare minimum out of servers but dang! Walked up and stared at us while we sat down, no introduction. Finally asked if we needed menus? We said yes, and a high chair. High chair wasn't acknowledged and my husband walked around until he found it. Asked if we could order the kids food first because we hadn't looked at the menu for 2 seconds for ourselves, told no it had to be all together. Fine, ordered kids sauce on the side, did not come that way and she saw the mistake when running food and started to say something then didn't and ran away? Had to ask 2x for silverware. Only given 1 fork the first time? The other server ended up giving us our Togo box and extra silverware. This place is always packed.. lots of regulars that must come here everyday. We ordered the oyster baskets.. came with fries and hush puppies. They were fried perfectly and very good, also had jumbo shrimp fried that was fresh and was just as good as the local fish place we go to. At 7.99 that exceptionally reasonable. Great little convenience store for while you're spending time up at High Rock. Forgot the ketchup? They've got it. Toothpaste, TP, boiled peanuts... yup, all there. They also have a little restaurant in the back that overlooks the lake (well, it IS called Tamarac Marina after all). That's where things go down quickly. Typically short staffed and frozen hamburger patties, well, actually, frozen everything I think, puts what could be a stand-out little dining establishment in the "okay" category. I would give it a lower rating if their boiled shrimp buckets didn't save the day on more than one occasion. They are a crowd favorite (including my crowd). Slim but decent selection of domestic and import beers (draft and bottled), and a few wines. The restaurant isn't what brings us back to Tamarac, but, I will say we don't mind grabbing a boiled shrimp bucket while we grab a couple of forgotten sundries for turnaround lake vacation. Worth a stop for the gas prices as well! read more

Called to ask about renting an RV site. Was asked to hold by the woman answering the phone and she laid the phone down. Listened to her talk to other people, run a cash register, etc. for several minutes before she hung up on me. Called back to ask my questions again and stated she had hung up on me. Was told, "I'm really busy." Really? Gosh, pardon me for calling a BUSINESS who rents camping sites and asking questions about renting a camping site. I just had nothing better to do, I guess. Nice country place on the Lake. The wait staff is friendly as is the general atmosphere. The outside chairs are uncomfortable so I suggest grabbing a booth inside. We love breakfast there and highly recommend the hash brown and onions and the sausage biscuit. The biscuits are big! We also love the soup. Most everything has been cooked exactly as I like it. Walked in on 8-2-2019 & reserved a boat, a $50 charged to credit card & was told to bring $175 the day of rental. After traveling an hour plus we arrived the day of rental & was told to hand over another $300 cash? We have 3 witnesses as to what we was told friday at counter. Nice little campground for relaxing and fishing but no extras.. despite their ad when I went there during the a motorcycle event in october they have absolutely no wifi, no laundry, no cell service, no pool, nothing else to do, absolutely nothing else.. this is a place to simply relax and it is fairly quiet... they need to add stuff to do.... From the other campgrounds I have visited if you don't have wifi or good cellular service, you need help! read more

I go here almost multiple times a 7 day week by boat to eat (Spring-Fall) at their little diner, usually sit outside. The waitresses are just fine, just what you'd expect from a place of this calibre. It's a pretty decent little place, their convenience store has a little of everything and their food is always great. It has a nice separate out door little campground area where you can sit and bikers usually park their bikes. Though those tables are not at all comfortable, they work. As for their outdoor deck where you can sit and eat, that's an entirely different story. It's much more pleasant with actual tables and semi decent chairs to sit in and the out door area is pretty decently kept, but nothing like you'd find in a fancy restaurant, but then again you shouldn't expect that from a place like this. Their in-door area is pretty decent too, and wheelchair accessible, but it's rather small but considering the outdoor area, it's irrelevant. I've been there with all capacities and they always seem to have enough room so that is no issue either. ***BOAT RELEVANCE AND THE ONLY COMPLAINTS*** The sandy areas where you park your boats have many spots with giant (2-4x head size) rocks that will easily mess up your boat hull if you docked on them, they have neglected to get these rocks up when the water goes down for years and I'm sure MANY people have ruined/damaged props & hulls. If you come by water go into the little cove bit past the gazebo and you'll be fine, just don't go in directly left from there (Get at least 8 meters further). Also...they need buoys badly. Their piers are in pretty bad shape and I messed up the side of my boats hull pretty bad in my earlier days there. If you're good with your boat you can manage though. Amateurs beware! TLDR; All in all a great place to go relax and enjoy some good food, or simply stop and shop for a drink/get gas, but be careful coming by boat. read more

Worst campground I ever visited.. This place looks like a dump, and when I have my 2 daughters and wife outside there are pit bulls running around loose. The WIFI completely sucks, nothing to do unless you have a boat by the lake.. And as far as bringing kids, there is absolutely nothing for them to do... No laundry, bad parking, dogs running around, horrible wi-fi, no cell service, no playground facility.. Personally they couldn't pay me to stay at this place again....
