These four (4) stars are for Rock who is a great salesman. He didn't treat us like second rate…read morecustomers since we were only in the market to buy a little motor for around $2,500.00. He was even eager to learn why we wanted this motor, called the company because he's didn't know such a motor existed and get us the motor from the manufacturer. He suggested a different size propeller to match the jon boat, gave us the propeller for free and offered to have a mechanic shape and adjust the propeller for no additional charge. Because we didn't have a trailer for the boat, he offered to loan us one - again for free. We were so thrilled and enjoyed working with him. The minus 1 star is for the female manager whose name I decided to forget since she practically reneged on everything Rock offered us. Rock wasn't there when we came to pick-up the motor. She made us feel like we were asking an awful lot for only ordering a $2,500.00 motor and assured us the propeller was fine that came with the motor and that we could figure out how to shape and adjust it ourselves. She looked greatly annoyed and put out when we asked if we could borrow a trailer. My parent-in-laws were with us, and I could tell my father-in-law was growing very angry at how she was treating us, and my mother-in-law looked really hurt. I think if this took any longer, my FIL was going to buy us a new boat to prove to her that even if we couldn't afford it, he could. After all, he was the one buying us the motor.

My experience is just from a visitor's perspective, so keep that in mind!…read more My friends have three boats. When they asked our family if we wanted to go boating one weekend, the answer was a resounding YES. From their house, we passed about three marinas to get to this one. I didn't understand it at the time, but now I do! Everyone at this marina was friendly, helpful, and the actual dock was clean. There wasn't a huge wait to get unloaded or to load back up after we were done. Everything was organized and efficient!

But everything else is just trash. I purchased a brand new boat last summer. I took it got to be winterized and to warranty fix my boat cover that started to tear. I picked it up and the fall afterwards and didn't look too closely. They fixed the button but not the tear. They also left greasy dirty hand prints and dirty foot prints all over my boat that were such a pain to clean up. I didn't notice the tear was till there until I pulled it out of storage. My fault for not looking at it when I picked it up in the fall. I had it brought back to fix the tear. They fixed it but they left my boat outside in the rain. To fix the cover. A bird took a crap on the back seat. They then didn't put one pole in and put another pole so tight they couldn't snap all the buttons and now another button is tearing because of it. I went to clean the bird poop off and it left behind a yellow stain that I have no idea how to get off now. Also when I picked up the bait my 7 by 5 pin adapter is no longer connected to the boat which I always leave connected. They also winterized my waverunner and when they disconnected the negative terminal from the battery they did not put the screw back in so I had to go find a new screw. They do not care about your property. I would not recommend you use them to take care of yours.

I bought a 2006 Mastercraft boat in February 2025, which seemed great at first--new motor, low…read morehours (approx. under 200), and factory ballast tanks. But after storing it at the marina prior to picking up for the first time, I found the trailer's guide poles missing, and while the sales team couldn't help, I replaced them myself. These guide poles are unique to MasterCraft trailers. When I tried towing, the trailer wiring was faulty. I fixed the ground wire and got it working. I launched the boat at my local dock, but on the first outing, the bilge pump started working overtime. I discovered the leak was from a wire running out of the transom. It took nearly four weeks as it was busy season starting the summer to get the boat into service for the local marina to fix it. Once back in the water, I found additional issues of two unsealed seacocks causing leaks, which I fixed with marine sealant. However, water kept accumulating in the bilge, and the battery alarm went off after an hour. The port ballast pump also didn't work. I took the boat back to the local marina, who later found an inboard shaft leak, a bad alternator, and faulty ballast wiring. By this point, I was frustrated--my family had only used the boat three times having to pull it out of water each run, and I'd missed great weather. Culver Portside Marina had assured me the boat was "water-ready," but they admitted it wasn't tested before sale when contacting them on the most current 3 issues being repaired and my experience so far. They offered no help with the repairs, despite me asking for at least 50% of the repair costs. The sale was "as is," per the owner of Culver Portside but these issues should've been addressed before posting sale or disclosed during the sale had it properly been tested Now we have a $1,300 repair estimate immediately after the purchase . I'd recommend anyone buying from Culver Portside ensure a thorough documented inspection and test everything before purchase, especially since it's mid-July, and I'm still waiting for repairs to finish. With school starting soon, it's tough explaining the situation to kids who were once excited upon hearing of the purchase. This was a boat they claimed to have been serviced by them the past few years.

My family needed a place to stay at the last minute and Terry helped me find the perfect option for all 9 of us to stay. We were able to walk to Indiana Beach. You are within 200 yards of the park's entrance, which was so convenient. By being a guest at Bay Side Resort, you also received a generous discount into the park. The property had paddle boats and kayaks that were free to use. This was something the whole family participated in, and was an added perk that no other rental offered. There is a giant deck for all residents to enjoy without feeling cramped. They offered a multitude of grills (gas/charcoal) so we were able to enjoy grilling out as a family which also saved us money by being able to avoid an expensive restaurant. They are located on a quiet bay area that has minimal big boat traffic, so the family was able to swim in Lake Shafer, along with boating. If you don't want to swim in the lake, the property also had a large swimming pool and hot tub. There is a convenient marina located across the bay, so if you need to rent a boat or wave runner you had that option as well. There was also a huge fire pit that is free to use at your leisure. The inside of the house we rented was rustically beautiful. It had a full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, and sink. The bathroom had a walk in shower. The particular house we had included a queen, full, set of bunk, and futon beds. Overall the experience was wonderful. We highly recommend to anyone looking for an awesome place to stay. Terry and Jackie were amazing, give them a call!!

Perfect....until we took it out. Boat number 3 had engine issues. I'm not a mechanic, but, I know their pontoons are supposed to go at least 10 mph. We even raced a kayaker and lost. Not kidding. The RPM's would run high but we wouldn't go any faster than 7-8mph. So, therefore we had to deal with large wake from other boats because we were basically idle the whole time. We then were stuck due to the engine not starting. After about 10 min of fiddling with everything trying to figure out the issue, we got lucky and the engine started so we could return in a timely manner. Once returned, we reported the issue and their own employee admitted that something was wrong. We were told to call the next day to figure out if there could be some sort of compensation due to not being able to use the boat like we wanted to. Once I called I was told they couldn't do anything because the boat went above 10 mph when they "tested it out". Absolutely unacceptable. The manager told me that since we "didn't bring the boat back to replace with another one, there's nothing we can do". The reason why is because before we left one of the employees said they booked all of their boats. Stating that it was going to be a very busy day. All in all we were a little dissatisfied with the boat, but more importantly the lack of customer service. We made sure to return the boat in better shape than when we received it (mind you we found bottle caps in the cup holders and mud on the seats). I hope the next customers has a better experience. Happy 4th of July!

Mike Manahan is one hell of a salesman and promised us we could have everything we asked for and gave us a great price. He did warn us that he couldn't start until fall. We gave him $15,000.00 upfront to buy the steel. In the fall, he couldn't get to us so he promised us we would be the first in spring 2013. In June 2013, he built the seawall, put up the steel structure for the dock and boat lift, demolished our concrete sidewalk and excavated the hill so our landscapers could build another retaining wall. We paid Mike another $7,000.00. We never heard or saw Mike and his crew again, despite promises that he would put in the cradle, motor and electric for the boat lift, wood and roof for the dock, backfill behind the seawall and pour new concrete sidewalks. Throughout the summer, fall and winter of 2013 through to this spring 2014, we called the business phone number, Mike's cellphone and his brother's law firm numerous times, but his voicemail is always full, and his brother won't return our phone calls. What we are left with is a big, ugly, bare bones steel structure in our backyard, a gulf between the seawall and remaining yard that prevents us from getting to and using the waterfront, and personal liability for neighborhood kids who think it's fun to climb on the steel structure. After two years and no boat lift, dock or yard to show for $22,000.00, we now have to hire new contractors and sue Marine Works to mitigate our damages. I will also be leaving complaints with the BBB and White County business bureaus.
