Whilst in Glouschester today my wife and I took a walk to the quay to have a look around, as you walk up to this newly developed area it looks the ideal place for some great seafood restaurants however after looking about and asking a local we realised we weren't spoiled for choice. A local pointed us in the direction of a pub called The Tall Ship that apparently sold seafood and as we had our hearts set on seafood plus not knowing the area we decided to try it out. The moment we walked in to the pub my head was telling me leave now but as we were both tired and hungry we ignored our instincts. I ordered a nice pint (beer was good) and looked at the menu my wife and I decided on seafood tapas to start followed by a warm seafood platter and sat at a table in the yard and waited for our fish feast. A charming young lady brought our starter out and god knows what it was but seafood tapas it was not! It was 1 large bowl filled with everything the chef could lay his hands on ie, shelled prawns, coleslaw, smoked mackerel, mussels, olives, garlic and tarragon bread & stilton! Oh yea and a big wedge of orange? Sound nice?? Well it wasn't the coleslaw looked a week old so didn't risk touching that, the olive I tried tasted off, how can olives taste off & The mussels were cooked to buggery which was the theme for our main course too! I won't bore you with what the main course consisted of but it was massive, over cooked, flavourless and basically inedible.
Gone are the days where we Brits accept receiving bad food just because you receive a giant portion. Reasonable sized portions cooked well are not just good for customers but also businesses selling them. read more
