The waiting area is very clean. Erica was my stylist. She gave me advice as to what to color, what color to try, etc. She was so friendly, nice, and clearly very skilled...I was in and out in probably an hour and a half. While I waited for my hair to color, they offered me a glass of wine. I am so happy with the results! Partial highlights cost me $60 (it's normally $80 but I had a Yelp coupon). The lack of conversation makes it awkward as I try and trying to out where to direct my gaze as I'm sitting directly in front of a mirror facing myself. Eventually I become too wrapped up in wondering if my hairdressers had a bad day and is now taking it out on my hair of hair to care where I'm looking. Fortunately, at Defining Styles I've never had this problem. The hairdressers are friendly, dynamic and make you feel like they're really psyched to be cutting your hair. Most importantly however, they really know what they're doing and they listen (if I could italicize that, I would). When I request to have only have a few inches taken off my hair, I leave with my hair the length I wanted. No surprise bobs here! The stylists here make sure to discuss what you plan to do with your hair before they start snipping so that you have plenty of time to make sure it's the cut you'd like. The texture of your hair is taken into account so that you don't end up with a cut that only looks amazing when your hair's straightened.... but you have naturally curly hair. If you're trying to avoid silent (possibly angry?) hairdressers, you're safe at Defining Styles.

I showed her pictures of the style I wanted and she delivered. I haven't tried out their hair coloring or highlighting services yet but I definitely recommend a haircut!
