Not a bad thrift shop. Been here a couple times and it's pretty large and spacious. I like how they have fitting rooms. Most of the thrift stores I've been to always have it closed or don't have any which is annoying. Overall, this thrift shop is kept clean and tidy most of the time and I would say that items are reasonably priced. The only thing I would recommend is they have more cashiers on floor. Every time I've been here there's always a wait line with only one person on the cash register. Oh also, you get a discount if you show your student card, which is nice. read more

Tried to return a sweater that I showed a bank statement on and tag still on the sweater to be told a big fat no! Oshawa store sucks big time for customer satisfaction as I donated over 500 items clothes, etc and they don't even honour the discount card. Shameful !!! read more

Talize has very nice items, but are getting more expensive. With the previous manager, in 2022, there were daily specials...Certain categories at 50% off. It made shopping fun. The young staff then were very pleasant and upbeat. now March 2023 Unfortunately this situation has changed: new management... Not pleasant. Prices are even higher, no sales I was told. Too bad! .... 1 stoplight away is Value Village; Seniors Day EVERY Tues, 30% off. With just about every donation u get a one time 20% coupon. Talize wants 2 garbage bags full as a donation. Seniors discount is only 10%. Talize better improve or it's going to close. read more

Talize has improved. It's more organized and I've noticed an improvement in customer service where literally every employee greets you as you walk throughout the store. My only feedback is if the books can be more organized. At least in the children's section the books are put back chaotically (I know it's the customers doing that) but if someone can be ontop of the organization of books so that it's easier to browse so that time isn't being wasted. However, the books are very affordable and love coming here to buy them for my son. read more

Bigger doesn't always necessarily mean better. When the Talize at Dixie/Dundas first opened, it was a free-for-all. You could go in and get nearly anything you wanted, clothing or otherwise, for rock-bottom prices, and even get more savings on 50% off days. Whatever happened in the last few years, the company has lost a lot of cachet with me. While the store is still massive in size (it partially occupies the site of a former Zellers, IIRC), the people who frequent it and the prices have really slipped. I don't care what kind of thrift store you are. If you're selling t-shirts for $25 and up second-hand, you messed up. As someone whose relative worked at this location, I am well-aware of the tricks they pull. Having their employees comb through clothes as they come in and pull out the best stuff for their own use/to squirrel away until they can buy it later, pricing their clothes according to brand name and a general price increase (forcing you to wait until 50% off days to get anything at the price it would have been normally two-to-three years ago). On most days, you'll find aisles filled with hoarders who pick up dozens of items and shove them into their cart to sort through before they leave. In all honesty, this reminds me a lot of how Goodwill used to be before they shut down. While you can find some decent deals every now and then (usually due to someone not pricing an item correctly), it's better to steer clear and go to other thrift stores. It's not worth the high prices or insanity that occurs on half-off days. read more

big space but 10ish times I visited (plus 2x at Brampton location and once at Whitby) in a 3-4 yrs period, I haven't found more than a few items total, almost all for men because mens selection is much better (much smaller but definitely better), womens is a lot of low end clothes and nonames (ardene, george, f21, garage/dynamite, bluenotes, reitmanns, le chateau, ancient zara and h&m), outdated styles or items with hidden flaws. otherwise, clean and bright. prices were mostly okay and items were in generally better condition than in vv or salvation army. they often have discounts but at this location its well known that resellers get all the interesting stuff as soon as it appears, same goes for the nearby renovated value village biggest complaint - racks are TOO PACKED to be able to browse effectively, in the sea of black shirts/tops I am looking at I just tend to give up and skip the section! bag section is poor, mostly junk pieces. 1.8/5 read more

I've visited this Talize numerous times over the past few years. It is my go-to for all things new and "gently used". They have everything you can think of. Clothing for the entire family, books, movies, music, housewares, bedding, toys! The list goes on. I have gotten so many deals over the years I can't even count them on two hands. The pricing is pretty decent, however I have seen a few crazy markups. But they have manager specials all the time, with 2-4 collections of clothing on sale every day. And of course the 50% off days! When the entire store is 50% off it can get a little crazy, but the deals are amazing. They also have a great donation project where you receive a $5 off your $25 purchase coupon for every bag of stuff you donate. This location is huge, with tons of room to shop, washrooms and ample change rooms (9 items at a time-way generous! ) Make sure to pickup a talize membership card because you ALSO collect points on every purchase and can redeem 1000 pts for $1 off!! I went to drop off a box of barely used clothing and was greeted by the rudest employee I have ever encountered in my entire life. I asked the lady coming out of the store if I should put the stuff in the bin outside and she said that I had to wait for an employee to come out and check my box I told her that I didn't have time to wait that I didn't need the coupon. She told me that their place was not a garbage dump and that I would have to wait. I was livid said a few words that i probably shouldn't have but based on her reaction it wasn't the first time she heard them. If it was gargbage i would of put it in the garbage not drive for 20 min. to drop it off to some ungrateful person. Unfortunately for them they have no idea what they missed out on. Most of the clothing was new and all brand names that belonged to my now deceased ex husband. Guess I just have to leave them in the garage until the Diabetes foundation or any other of the companies gets back to business and gladly accept all donations. read more

Terrible service. I am a local of this store and attend quite often. I see they are under new Management and I was not impressed with the Floor Supervisor or Manager whom attended the cash when I laid my purchases on the counter after the Cashier requested her to review a particular purchase. It was a Pink Tag (the only pink tag in all the 13 items). She ripped the tag off the shorts which were $5.99 and looked me straight in the eye and said these are 12.99 and not 5.99! I was shocked and she said people change these tags to a lesser amount and the shorts were worth a lot more than $5.99. I liked the shorts and wanted them so I agreed to pay 10.99 for them. The same scenario happened to another customer who attended the cash just 15 minutes earlier but she agreed to give him the amount on the tag. Why aren't they checking tags. They are blaming it on the Floor staff ticketing the clothing. This is not right and want people to know this is just wrong. read more

Its okay... The store is definitely well organized compared to your average thrift store. Clothing is organized in color and size which is nice. With this, prices are higher than a goodwill or salvation army. I saw a lot of brand names here but mostly lower to mid things like Zara, H&M and Gap which tend to be a bit over priced here but I'm sure if you are willing to hunt youll be successful! read more

I've had nothing but great experiences at this Talize! It's well organized and the change rooms are clean and spacious... Better than Value Village's. Also, presumably because it's not as big of a company as VV, I find the prices to be more reasonable. Happy thrifting, y'all! read more

I would put no stars if possible. The service here was really bad. There was a cashier speaking on the phone while she fully saw us waiting pay for our items. Another cashier saw us but hesitated to service us. This other cashier let other customers behind us to go first.. And this annoyed me but I didn't really say anything. The cashier had the guts to say 'it's not the end of the world' like the nerve of this lady! I'm not expecting some high class service but at I'm expecting common sense from these 'staff'. I have a few issues with Telize. When you donate anything to them, they give you a coupon for $5 off IF you buy $25 worth of stuff. I find this a bit sleazy; just give me a coupon I don't have to make an effort to use. Secondly, their prices are high in comparison to other thrift shops. Although I have found some good quality kids clothes, they have all been for more than I would've paid at Value Village. The staff has been rude to me on more than one occasion, recently acting like I was in the way while shopping with my son in a stroller and an employee was trying to stock the racks. For those that do not know what a Talize is... it's basically a better version of Value Village. Everything here is is either brand new or only used once. I still see a price tag on some of these items! It's always a bargain here! Service/Organization: This Talize is very well organized. The large banners on the top of each section of items are very helpful. I find that this Talize has a really good organization system for clothes. They sort by style of clothes, size of clothes and then colour! Tip: Some days they have specific coloured tags on 50% off, so make sure you take advantage of the savings! read more

Bought a nice sweater there at Peterborough store last week. Smelled funny ,but figured it was just the second hand clothing store smell. Removed tag, to hurry and wash it. After washing it, it still smelled awful. Find out it was cat pee smell on it yuk. Store would not return it because tag was removed. Won't go back there to shop,can't get the smell out of my head. I will donate sweater back to them lol read more

I go to this Talize every weekend and always leave happy. The store is clean and organized, reasonably priced (considering all thrift stores are becoming more expensive) and the staff are always friendly and willing to help. They also have a bonus. When you donate, if you go to the door instead of throwing it in the bin you'll receive a $5 off coupon of your purchase of $25 or more. If you're lucky they'll give you a couple. Only thing that is a bit annoying is that you really have to look hard. They have so many racks just packed with clothing and so much to look through that it can be a bit tiring. We have been shopping at various Talize locations for many years. Talize does have some nice items, but they charge too much. We have noticed their prices have consistently gotten higher, especially in the last year. I noticed this price hike about two years ago, with this year being the worst. All the items are donated, so I am surprised by their high prices. I have also noticed they are no longer being careful of what they put out for sale (with high prices) that should actually be thrown out in the garbage. Buyer beware! Careful examine the items and make sure they are worth the price. And overall the customer service is less than satisfactory. Some of the staff can be downright rude, especially management. I have seen one Cashier being very rude to an older woman in line at the Mississauga location. Nowadays there are a lot more thrift stores, so don't be afraid to shop elsewhere. Talize used to be a great place to shop, but now I rather go elsewhere or on Kijiji. read more

I used to enjoy shopping at Talize and finding collectibles and small treasures at decent pricing. I have stopped shopping there because they have ruined all the fun of going into a thrift shop by jacking up the prices. Some pricing is higher than new at the big box stores. Any collectible items are put in the glass showcase at the front of the store where you can wait ten minutes just too find the price on something that usually ridiculously high. To prove my point all you need to do is check the price on the Captain America shield in the Halloween costume section My nine year old son wanted the shield we saw in the window, so we went in to purchase it. This shield is made out of the cheapest plastic, like the cover of a $8.00 dollar cake. They want $ 24.99 just for the shield. This was unbelievable, but true. Your getting greedy Talize. read more

I have been a devoted customer at this Talize Dixie store. I have donated many bags of clothes and other goo0ds. As a result I have more than twenty $ 5.00 off vouchers; that is after using some and giving away many to the customers at Talize.. However, few days ago, I went to return a blouse which was only for $4.99. First the girl at the counter (oriental young girl) refused to take it back even with the tag and the bill, saying that it could not have been their product. Secondly, she even insulted me by saying that the tag on the black gym pants was not the right tag (5.99) and should have been $7.99. She called her supervisor, who was a young white lady who also said that the tag was wrong and someone must have put the wrong tag. I told her that it was not my fault nor my business that they put the wrong tag. I also told her that they were legally bound to give me that pant for the price that was on it, but they refused. Not an overall good experience here. I have gone here a few times to find clothes at a decent price. Being Thrift I would expect better pricing for second hand stuff. I find that their clothing price is the same as Value Village if not more. No one ever smiles in this store. Almost like they don't want to be there. As far as cleanliness goes, it's pretty good. But that's as far as it goes there. Nothing to write home about. I stood in a line up at one of the registers while 2 other staff members were talking to each other over by the jewelry counter area.
