Everything is organized smoothly. The people who work there are very kindly. The golf course are organized well.

This place provided a terrific round of golf. It was challenging, with the rough being tall but not too tall, to not find a ball. Greens and tee boxes were in good condition as well. The layout was a great mix of par 3's, 4's and 5's, with some blind holes. The carts had GPS, which is always a plus, but unfortunately, there was no cart service for beverages and snacks, so be sure to load up at the window before hand. I got a hot dog and it was actually really tasty. Pace of play during week was rad, did not get pushed from behind or have to wait ahead. I'll certainly come back here. read more

My husband and I just got married on 10/25/25 at Talega and I don't have enough wonderful things to say about this venue and its team! Michael was incredible and made the day seamless and magical. Everything was perfect and well organized and on time! We felt so secure and taken care of! Michael was so good with communication and clear about expectations from the beginning. And so helpful! And his list of preferred vendors was spectacular! We got all our vendors from his list and it made all the difference !!! They were all phenomenal and knew eachother and knew talega really well so it made Everything so smooth! And the photos came out stunning. This venue is beautiful and it was recently remodeled this year so it looked extra polished and gorgeous! Also the food was incredible! We got so many compliments on the food. Me and my buddy (two sum play) had a twilight tee time. After the 10th hole our cart battery died. To make the story short, we ended up pushing the cart for the next two holes and let more than a couple of groups pass us to keep up with the game pace with the others. Everyone ( including the groups ahead and back of us) called the club house several times, but no one answered and no return calls. Therefore, we got so tired from pushing the car especially the uphill and decided to abandon the cart and started working through 11th~16th hole without knowing which way is the short cut to the club house. At this point, we weren't thinking about playing. Trust me. It was getting dark and we were starting to worry that if no one can help us. Luckily, we ran into the four sum joined group had an extra cart and they let us borrow a cart on16th hole. Folks, same thing happened to at this course 4 yrs ago and I would never thought it would happen to me again !! Miss judgements !! Don't get me wrong. I love ro play in this course, but the management needs to control the employees and pay attention to figure out an issue that never fixed. I also heard from few other groups said the same thing. 8:30 tee time and the range opens at 9AM... First course I've been to like this. The starter offered to open the kitchen for us which I truly appreciated...But at most places that is a standard. Course was challenging and fun but I can't justify paying $150 for subpar fairways. I will give some grace because it is winter, but I wasn't impressed with the condition of the course. Layout is good and holes are challenging because of the valley this course resides in. Bring lots of balls it can get tricky if you don't play smart. 15th tee is a blind shot so be careful on that one! For the price you pay it's missing a lot of standard things (quick cafe, beverage cart, etc). In this price range it just doesn't feel like it's worth it. read more

Talega Golf Club was beyond what my husband and I could've ever imagined for our wedding last October! The venue is gorgeous, the food was amazing, and we have nothing but incredible things to say about Michael, the event coordinator. He was also our day-of coordinator, and he, alongside his incredible assistant Myra, truly made the day unforgettable. Michael and Myra's attention to detail and dedication to us on and before our big day was outstanding - we felt so well-taken care of, and we knew the day would go off without a hitch because of them. Our appreciation for Michael and Myra are endless! Their wedding package inclusions made our planning process so seamlessly easy! The choices for linens, tables, chairs, etc are all gorgeous and just what we wanted for our big day. The courtyard where we had the ceremony was clean and well-kept, and had the perfect backdrop for our altar. The cocktail area was gorgeous and had plenty of options for seating or standing without feeling cramped. The reception area was perfect for dinner and dancing - there was plenty of room for all of our tables, dance floor, bar, and DJ booth! Dinner selections were inclusive to all diets and we still get complements on how incredible the food was - we totally agree (best food we've ever had at a wedding, and that's not even us being bias lol). All of the waiters/bartenders were so sweet and made sure our guests were well-taken care of all evening. For a public course, I'm always pleased to visit talega while our club is closed for over seeding. The pro shop is friendly. The driving range is too far and I usually don't use it. That's disappointing. read more

Way off the mark for the price point. 1. They charge for child spectators. 2. General flow of check-in area and starter are odd and not very welcoming. 3. Fairways and Tee Boxes not in great condition. Tee boxes on Red Tees were almost like driving from the rough the grass was so tall. 4. The alarms that go off warning you that the marshall will come after you (they did and told us to hurry up even though the people in front of us were slow) if you're not back by exactly 5pm is obnoxious and not at all in line with how other courses handle this. 5. Snack area is sad and sitting area really cheap looking. 6. It was a ghost town at the bag drop and no one seemed to be interested in helping with bags. 7. No water and zero help getting into cart. The guy (starter I presume) just stared at us and hardly interacted. Clearly not interested in welcoming us or helping in any way. 8. The golf carts are irritably slow. Super weird slow. Overall, this place has a TON OF POTENTIAL but most Muni courses feel way nicer than this. Seems like this place is currently VERY poorly run. Massive opportunity for someone who knows what they're doing to come in and save them. read more

The course was very well manicured and we had a great time ! This golf course is near the coast in San Clemente so it is not as hot in the summer as most golf courses further inland. Not sure why the bad reviews... overpriced for sure but not that bad. I thought it was a difficult course... well either that or I sucked on the day. I think it was hole 15 or 16... loved it and hated it. Couldn't see the fairway from the tee box, you gotta hit over this canyon full of trees. Lost like 5 balls solely on that hole. For the total price we paid to play($650), the amenities were sparse to say the least. For $150 per player, waters and towels should be a MINIMUM on the carts...not here. Secondly, there is no bev cart on the course, nor water stations around the course. The tee boxes are torn up pretty bad, mismatched grasses, divots that were left unfilled, bunkers not raked and ball marks on the green not fixed. A lot of that is on the golfers themselves not the course. Again, paying that much to play and still having to pay for range balls is outrageous...Lastly, the staff was kinda rude. The starter seemed annoyed that we were even there, the cart return guys were the same. No "good morning, welcome to Talega!", "how was it out there?", "how'd you play?", "thank you for coming!". Not a single pleasantry. The course has EVERY opportunity to be an amazing experience but falls short on the simplest/cheapest things(towels, waters, friendly staff). I really don't get it... The best experience I had all day was with the snack bar attendant. He was so nice and very pleasant. And the breakfast burrito is very good. Him and the burrito are really the only reason I gave it a 2star. read more

This place is in horrible disrepair should not command the price tag. The course is over priced and poorly maintained. The greens and carts are nice and that's where it ends. The starter and other employees were friendly. Don't even think about grabbing a meal as there is only a sad snack shop. There are several uncovered walkway lights that have electrical wires exposed with wires sticking out. The handrail going to the snack shop is missing an end cap leaving a rusty piece of metal exposed.....sure to cut your round short. THE WORST RAN GOLF COURSE IN CALIFORNIA AND I DONT KNOW HOW THEY CONTINUE TO OPERATE THE WAY THEY DO. This place books tee times back to back to back with very small time in between groups. Don't ever expect to play a round under 5 hours here. And they continue to charge 130+ for 12:00 tee times and you may finish 14 holes. Absolutely brutal and horribly ran. Joke of an establishment. Do not waste your time here. Tijeras Creek, San Juan Hills, Shorecliffs even are all operated 100x better. Played on a Friday and had groups of 6 in front of us. 6!!!! read more

This place is garbage. Fertilizer, Mulch, weeds, overgrowth on the tee boxes and fairways. Greens are stripped with a plethora of divot holes and cart track marks. For an exorbitant amount of $155, no visual GPS hole layout monitors; no range balls; no water station; no bag drop off attendants; no cart service; no starter; no marshal. To add a cherry on top, the staff/manager has attitude problems and seems unwilling to accept any type of feedback. Apparently lacking all these amenities along with shit customer service justifies the cost, based on what the manager thinks. I have been playing Talega for 6 years and always been a part of the players club program. I am not sure if renewing is worth my money or time anymore. Let me address everything: The course layout and holes are great. Challenging par 3s. Unique par 5s with some creative drives. And easy to score holes mixed with not so much. Bring a lot of balls. There really isn't much relief OB. The back eats up your sleeve of balls quickly. Recently the conditions have gotten a little bad. Lots of Ground Under Repair, tee boxes either overgrown or under repair which causes you to have to tee in the rough, and some not so well groomed greens and traps. Talega has never offered much in terms of service but it's time they try. For fees going up every year and now in the over $125 range for a peak time you need to offer some amenities. - Beverage Cart is a must on a course like this - Cafe needs to up their game. Get faster at making food. Offer more selection. And maybe a order on 9th tee box option to keep up pace of play Speaking of pace...it's now in the infamous Orange County over 5 hour range. There are no Marshall's controlling pace and the dreaded 15 tee blind shot system barely works. We need to either spread times or get someone out there. The range might as well not exist. It's not connected to the course and you have to drive your car over there. And it's not even open before 9am. I would say there are way better options for the price in OC at this point. I'm not sure I'll be renewing my players card even for the "free" rounds given. read more

The Good: the course itself is beautiful and very challenging with a variety of terrain. The cart comes with the greens fees. Staff is always very nice and polite. Prices are fairly reasonable for the area. Parking is free with ample spots available. It's not hard to get a tee time. Pro Shop has anything you need. Snack bar on 9 has decent selections of beverages and food. The bad: every time we go to Talega, we are sandwiched so tightly between the group in front of us and the group behind us that often times, there are 3 groups trying to play various parts of the same hole at once. It's very claustrophobic at times because there is this constant annoyance at the group ahead of us that is playing slow, and at the same time, the group behind us is rushing you by trying to hit their balls right on top of you and looking annoyed. It really makes for a very aggravating day on the course. You feel constantly rushed by the people behind you, only to be delayed at the same time by the people in front of you. This has happened to us the last 3 times we've gone. There is nothing worse than feeling like you have to hurry to your ball and just take a rapid whack at it, only to shank it out of bounds or into the water because you didn't have time to actually set up your shot and think it through, or rushing putts because you can see people standing 100 yards away giving you dirty looks while they're waiting for you to move on. Then you finish poorly and drive to the next tee box, only to see the group in front of you hasn't even been able to tee off yet. read more

It feels almost criminal how hard these people work for how reasonable a rate they give for a wedding venue package! I remember thinking after our wedding like, holy crap, I can't believe they did all that for how much we paid! We'll start with Michael. Michael is the greatest human being and the best coordinator you can ask for! If you go with Talega for your wedding, Michael will walk you through the entire process with professionalism, joy and humor, and make the whole ordeal feel seamless and painless. And this guy is the real deal. He'll provide insight and ask questions you never would even think about that's important for a wedding. I remember him asking about the bussells on a dress and how many there were so that we know when to change out the dress because it'll affect how long it takes before going into the reception. I have been to a good handful of weddings as a groomsman and NO coordinator has asked that or has asked even a quarter of the questions and insights that Michael brings to the table to make everything go well! Before writing this too, I saw some reviews that were bad-mouthing Michael and I don't really buy those reviews at all. I get that it makes this review seem like it was planted, but I suppose that's up to you, the reader, to discern for yourself. But I just gotta mention it because he is so awesome! I can't imagine him being condescending at all or anything! Like, go check it out and talk to him and you'll see he is the best! Then, there's Myra, (sorry if I misspelled your name!)! She is very attentive the day of to make sure that we, the bride and groom, are doing well! Honestly, she helped make the day (especially the part after ceremony when you're taking photos) so great because we were feeling tired but she popped up with champagne and water, and anything else we needed! She even brought a tray of appetizers to the bridal suite...room, thingy place for the bridesmaids and bride so that they could eat before the grand entrance for the reception! The staff was amazing too! We didn't get to interact with them, but holy moly, do they work fast and well! Honorable mention to one of the servers (I don't know your name sorry! but I remember you were tall dude with blondish hair), because i desperately needed appetizers during the photo shoot with family, and he got my back! He always came with more appetizers for me! The food is amazing too! People said it was the best they had at weddings and I agree! Long gone are the days where I thought Korean catered restaurants were the pinnacle of wedding food! I will probably have to hand in my Korean citizenship (even though I never had one) for that comment, but I will do so willingly because that food was so good!! You should honestly do your wedding here! It is amazing and it'll run smoothly in Michael's capable hands! My only regret is that in our wedding, we had a purple cowboy hats, but I didn't have enough to give to Michael and his staff! Talega, for a club of this level and the fees requested you need to address a few things. The staff I talked to was curt and short with their responses, not only to me, but while at the counter I observed and heard the same. I'd played Talega several years ago and talked highly about its layout, course condition and it's amenities. But on this day the first thing that struck me was being told the driving range opened at 9 am daily. I've been playing golf my whole life, all over the country and this struck me odd. Next was the inability of being able to sit down and get a meal, before or after the round unless using the walk up snack bar. Next the condition of the course was a surprise, the tee boxes had at least 2 inches of grass. On the par 3's, your ball, even when teed up, was below the the level of the grass. The golf carts were older and in poor condition, our brakes worked poorly, seats had rips and cigarette burns. It's always a treat to get what you pay for at a golf course, but Talega not only missed this mark, but failed to compete with some of the much lower end fee courses in the county. Sorry Talega, I'll have to read rave reviews or hear personal accounts before returning or recommending your course again. read more

He went above and beyond!! Everyone said it was the BEST food they have ever had at a wedding.. And our signature drink... OMG. It was better than a cocktail bar.. Multiple guest asked me the next coming weeks how it was made to get it again. Everything was so beautiful and I seriously cannot thank ENOUGH the staff and how hard of a worker Michael is. Came here in hopes of finding my dream wedding venue. The place was very private and intimate however, we were quite turned off by the wedding coordinator, Michael Vorhees. I personally don't want to be working with a condescending and overbearing person who basically told us that having all round tables at a wedding reception was a dumb idea. He talks so much that we couldn't even get a word in to ask questions. We ask questions and he thinks we aren't listening as if we are children. Sucks because we liked this venue but Michael Vorhees single handedly ruined our experience. Also they have a pretty subpar "bridal suite" and no grooms suite. Michael Vorhees is not your guy. He wouldn't have cared if we booked with him or not. I highly suggest looking elsewhere for a wedding venue. read more

For the $158 green fees you would expect a golf course to offer some amenities on a Saturday morning, after 9am. One small, very limited and partially staffed snack shop is what you get. Even at the turn if you choose to stop, good luck. Overall the course is fun. Greens were in good shape, tee boxes were average and fairways were a little rougher than you'd expect for the price. One and Done, $150....ouch!!! Checking in at 7:30 they let us know the range is off the property and doesn't open until 9:00 am...... WHAT!!! Course has a good layout but poorly maintained. Clubhouse area was dirty and lots of areas showed the wear of time. Not that broken landscape lighting and a beat up club house mean that much. But tee boxes were a mess. Fairways were patchy and in bad shape. Greens were badly damaged and the guy we were playing with said that they were punched a couple of months ago and then not looked after so they all still had scar marks and bumpy. Worst golfing experience on this course! Completed 2 holes in 45 minutes. No Marshal helping to manage the play. Observed groups taking multiple shots off the tee. The course was in terrible shape. Tee boxes were overgrown. There were weeds in fairway bunkers with barely any sand. There was no service on the course and the halfway house was closed. The course was in terrible shape. Fairways were made up with dead sod rolls. I have never seen this course in such poor condition.

This is a great course, but unfortunately they don't have enough staff members. Pace of play is not enforced at all, and you can easily lose an hour or more waiting on every hole. We played a round today, and did not see a marshal until hole 16 after already losing an hour. And at that point, he got mad at us for trying to push the pace when the group in front of us asked to play through. On top of that, we could not get an answer on the phone line when trying to get a marshal to come out and enforce pace of play. Disappointing given the fact this course is fun to play, but not surprising given other reviews. read more

Fun course, used to play here weekly in the summer however can't handle it anymore. Tee boxes are always in bad shape and no longer level, fairways are patchy, carts are beyond outdated and in need of repairs. Price has climbed through the roof and there is no true starter or marshal to keep pace of play. In the past 2 years I have not been able to complete a round here in under 5 hours. Every hole requires waiting on the tee box or even worse, pulling up to the tee box and still having the group infront of you getting ready to hit! Just yesterday we noticed a 25 minute gap in the tee sheet. The group in front of us teed off on 1 at 1050, us at 11. By hole 3 they had caught the group from 25 minutes before then. We proceeded with a 5:10 round... THIS IS THE NEW NORMAL FOR THIS PLACE! Need beers on the turn? Good luck trying to find the employee working the half way house. From the very moment I met Michael I knew I had to book with him. He is so informative and will walk you through the entire venue process start to finish. He made the entire wedding process so easy! He is AMAZING!! My wedding day went as smooth as possible and this venue is absolutely gorgeous!!! I am still dreaming about the FOOD! The food is 11/10. One of my favorite things about this venue! So delicious and so many options !! Also the ceremony area with the palm trees as well as inside the venue is beautiful!! All my family and friends could not stop talking about my wedding. It was like a dream! Everyone said it was hands down the best wedding they have ever been to. And I couldn't agree more!! Thank you for making my wedding so special and beautiful! I have never been big into leaving reviews, but I couldn't help but take the time to leave one. I came on and read some reviews unfortunately after my round of golf today. I've had some many people tell me I would enjoy playing at Talega. Well, that was not the case. For starters, and nothing against the guy letting you know which cart you're going to be in, they weren't very welcoming. No good morning or anything. My tee time was for 8:16 a.m., but I could have just gone whenever I wanted. There wasn't anyone telling you you're up next or would you like to jump in with this group. I was just told to go with some random group of guys and that was it. They ended up being great company and it was also one of the guys birthday so no complaints there. As far as the fairways, they were in not so great of shape. A lot of bare spots and some places where they had just put down new sod that made it super uneven around the greens. The greens were so spongy. They were in not so great of shape either. Hole #5 my cart completely died. I, along with the other three guys, could not get it to move at all. I had to call the pro shop to get them to bring me another cart. Hole #10 the same thing happened to the other two guys (one whose birthday it was) and they had to have another cart brought out to them as well. There was no apology for the inconvenience or anything. At least they helped move your stuff over, but how inconvenient when you have a group of people you're playing with, and behind you, that you're holding up. Not once, but twice this happened! There is no cart girl/guy that comes around. The bathrooms have a keypad on them and you can't get into them. No code was given at the beginning of the round incase you need to use them while out on course. When we made the turn at #9 to pass the clubhouse, it was probably around 10:30 and the bar wasn't open. It says on their website not to bring any outside food or drinks. Well, if you don't, good luck! You won't get anything at all. When we returned the carts, the guy at the stand didn't say two words to us. No how was your round of golf or anything. I'm not trying to sound all snooty or anything like that, but if you're paying $115 for a round of golf one would hope that the conditions of the course would be much better than what they were. It would be nice to have some amenities like a snack bar, cart girl/guy come around, available bathrooms to use, and carts that you didn't have to wonder if they were going to stay going or die on for the whole round. I have played at many other courses for less money, and for more money. The $459 new member fee they want for a membership card is laughable. It says you get three rounds of gold for free included in that. Well, you may want to just lower the price of that and still offer those three free rounds. At this point, you could not pay me to play at this course again. It's a shame because it has a really nice layout, except for the blind tee shot that fortunately they have a red flag on top of a 30' pole so you have some idea of where to hit it. But for the money I spent today, I will pass on it and pay more somewhere else that I know what I'm getting. I hope things change for the future of this course. Terrible service at the turn , tried to get something to drink and they had a line of 4 waiting for there order. They dnt care to try and speed up the line. If there not going to have a cart on the course then let people bring in there own coolers. A gentleman by the name of Juan carlos was very professional and apologized to me for the inconvenience. He definitely should be the person managing the place. He told me I'm not the first to complain. On the other hand Damian in the pro shop just shrugged his shoulders. I would like to come back but why pay 135 dollars and have to deal with inconveniences. Greens could have have been cut and rolled it's Father's Day weekend. read more

Walked in to renew my USGA membership (handicap) and they said they would not renew because my players club membership with them had expired. I told them I was happy to buy a new players club membership but they said they were not selling them until six months from now??? WTF So now I have to start a new USGA membership with another course. Management is absolutely horrible at this place, the owner is clueless. But it's all probably for the best as I was tired of paying four-star prices for two star course conditions. I recommend you spend your money elsewhere. read more

played mid July 2024 Pros- beautiful course in a great location. easy find parking and pro shop + cart attendants were very nice. Carts are cool with yardage measurement tech Cons- Tee boxes overgrown and course conditions were not great for the cost of the round. Time management between groups needs to be addressed as well. Had a 206pm tee time and was told we could start a few min early due to gaps in the bookings. tee'd off at 2pm and saw a group come behind us as we were teeing off. didn't think much of it. 2/3 done with the hole, they hit in to us. Fairway kind of slopes downhill, maybe they didn't see us, whatever. By hole 5, had a Marshall come up to us and tell us we were too slow, stating they got a call from the group behind us. The cart indicates pace of play and stated we were faster than expected. Marshall ended up following us for holes 5-8, pressuring us to play faster as we continued to explain what time we teed off and that we were ahead of pace. Talked with the pro shop at the turn (2 hours for 9 holes) and worker was apologetic, but we already unhappy given the front 9 was ruined. Would not return here based on course conditions cost and experience with the marshal. Save your money and go to san Clemente muni read more

I gave it another try to once my favorite golf course. Nobody at the drop off bag, cart very old and dirty, no cart with drinks and snacks but they ask you not bring your own, fairways and greens ok, bathrooms on the course really dirty with no paper, nobody at the end to offer to clean your clubs. There was once a great bar and restaurant where you could stay after playing for a drink or grab a bite. Now the facility is completely abandoned. Everything for $135. Sorry but not worth it. This is a pretty nice course. Staff were friendly and helpful. I teed off at 8am on a Friday and it didn't seem too busy. Weird thing is the range doesn't open until 9am. read more

This "sniffs in" at about 3.75 stars... The drought has led to them letting some ponds dry their way down but not out. There are still some ponds that are fairly full but others have leaned out dramatically. You will see a lot of yellow or brown on the course with some yellow-green grass (in that order) WILDLIFE -- I wonder if the drought has had an impact because we saw almost no wildlife until hole 14 where we saw bird, rabbit and squirrels simultaneously; this is not a course with a lot of trees right in your space so that will limit the wildlife you may see too GREENS -- pretty good shape FAIRWAYS -- short hair so you get good roll CARTS -- the old skool "Pro Shot" Navi is a little sad given the price point on this course but at least they have Navi The OC golf is pretty limited in the quicker pace-of-play and affordable arena so we go to SD more but this is a good option not too far away. The rates are a bit high for the way it currently presents but the drought is not always the courses fault depending on the circumstances in that particular city, funding etc. read more
