My husband and I got married at Agape this past May. It's no question that the venue is beautiful & our wedding day went off without a hitch. However, if you'd ask me whether I'd recommend the venue, I unfortunately would not, as the coordination/preparation leading up to our big day was a massive headache. From the beginning, there were small signs here or there that we probably should have recognized. Ex: They seemed to have forgotten they booked our initial venue tour & when we showed up were unprepared. We were given a tour by someone other than who we were scheduled to meet with (no big deal), but were limited as to what we could see since a wedding was being set up. We drove an hour to visit the venue, so we wish we would have been informed ahead of time, as we would have scheduled another day. That was a minor hiccup though and we ultimately fell in love with the venue. Below are just a few things that led to us giving 3 stars: It wasn't until after signing our contract that real problems began to pop up. From the time we booked to the time our wedding took place, we must have been bounced around to at least 5-7 different venue coordinators. Each time, it was like starting all over- one never knew where the last left off. To make matters worse, none of them seemed to know the terms of our contract and constantly kept trying to enforce new "policies". I totally get that this is a newer venue and changes will occur, but they should have a better way of organizing the terms/conditions that each client has signed. As a bride, it was so stressful constantly feeling like every month there was another wrench being thrown into our planning. You will also need to follow up with them on everything. It wasn't uncommon for me to have to send multiple emails to get a response, especially when it came to confirming whether our payments (via check to avoid extra fees) were received. The most worrisome issue was that if it wasn't for my husband & I keeping a copy of our original contract & getting responses in writing, we would have been screwed multiple times. Ex: Their booklet on what is included & which of their vendors you MUST use changed at least 3 times. Each time we were sent a new booklet and we kept having to remind the staff that that was not what we were provided when we signed. They also completely changed our contract to their "new" contract on our client portal. If I hadn't saved our 1st contract & the 1st booklet, all of the things we were guaranteed would have disappeared. I cannot emphasize enough to read your contract with this venue. They WILL change things on you & unless you have something to go back on, you will be stuck with the "new" policies. (Ex: we opted to use outside catering/outside bar... our contract allowed us to with approval, but they initially tried to say we had to use their vendors even though when we signed that wasn't a provision). The craziest thing to us was the $500 "flip fee" they charged us to hold our dinner in the courtyard. The fee does not include staff to help with flipping anything. Instead, it ultimately acts as a "deposit" for incidentals- but you don't get it back. I let this go because the venue literally forgot to charge us a security deposit, however if you are being charged a security deposit I would push back on them charging this fee, as any incidentals are already covered under the language of your contract's security deposit clause. I also was just exhausted by that point from all the other issues that had popped up. Again, the venue is gorgeous but the venue's operations need some major improvement. Going into our wedding day, I was terrified that it wasn't going to go well, as I had lost all confidence in the venue by that point. I will say that day-of, things went great and staff was very attentive. I'm sharing this with the hope that as more experience is gained, Agape will iron many of these issue out!

We had an amazing wedding at Agape in November. Everything went seamlessly. Thank you Malea for your excellent coordination. So many compliments on the venue. Perfect Spanish coastal style venue

I can't say enough good things about Agape 1928 and their incredible team. We were married 10/4/24 and it was beautiful! We booked our wedding over a year in advance and during that time the venue, their vendors, and even staff were going through transitions. Agape made sure to keep us updated along the way and they were so accommodating to our requests. Once wedding day came I felt so lucky to have their team of coordinators handling the details. Our wedding was absolutely beautiful!

My wife and I recently celebrated our wedding ceremony and reception at Agape 1928. Can't say enough great things about this venue. It hosted 120 guests comfortably and provided an elegant, Spanish style ambience for our special day. In addition, we used Agape's newly introduced in-house catering for our guests F&B. The food was top notch and the bar is the best you'll find in Orange County. All in all, great experience that we'll remember for our entire lives and are incredibly appreciative for Agape 1928's welcoming hospitality.

Agape was our dream wedding venue come true! It was the only venue that we looked at, and as soon as we walked in the courtyard, we knew it was the one. It truly has such a special atmosphere, and every detail of the venue is decorated in such a beautiful way. The best part is that you hardly have to bring in decor - it is stunning just the way it is! Our guest count was 90 and we felt like it was a perfect size. We also loved that we could spend the entire day at the venue - from getting ready in the bridal suite, to taking photos in the courtyard, to the ceremony and reception. We also used their 1928 Provisions bar service and the cocktails were SO good. Our guests could not stop raving about our signature cocktails (Mezcal Pineapple Margarita and Old Fashioned). Every detail of our wedding day was so perfect, and we would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a special place to host an event!

The Spanish-style steps are really neat and the view that overlooks the beach is something else. Bear in mind there are noise ordinances in place that are pretty darn strict: the processional music is going to be quiet, and the wrap time is 10 PM (if not a little before) to ensure that the neighbors don't complain. The inside area where the dancing is can get pretty hot and steamy and the ordinance forbids having the doors open to air the place out. But the view/grandeur of the space to cost ratio is pretty unbeatable, just hope that there aren't any trains passing by during important parts of the ceremony! Would love to come back for another wedding!

There's a ramp that leads down to north beach and the train station. Also, there is a walking trail right at the beach too. There's also some great restaurants nearby, like Moulin, Beach Hut Deli and a new Steak restaurant. Just note that all parking is metered and you will get a ticket if you don't pay. Ultimately, this is a gorgeous venue for a party, picnic and more!

The venue has an incredible beachy and laid-back California vibe -- the outdoor patio with lounge sets and fireplace, the impressive ballroom with its stunning ceiling, and the ocean views make it a truly charming space. Being so close to the beach also meant we were able to sneak away for sunset photos on the wedding day. The staff was easy to work with throughout the planning process, and everything ran smoothly on the day of, from the bartenders to the security personnel. Public (paid) parking is available in the lot across the street but is currently only $1.50/hr. Note that the ballroom can start to feel tight around 200 guests, especially when factoring in the dance floor and buffet space. Alcohol must be purchased through the venue, but this did make planning easier for us, and we found the bartenders' service exceptional. Unfortunately, there have been some recent venue policy changes since our event, such as having only one exclusive caterer, additional fees for cake-cutting, and restrictions on late-night food vendors. Overall, an absolutely amazing venue.

The outdoor areas inside and outside the property are very well cared for. I would say borderline immaculate. Baseboards and doors etc could use a little touch up painting and some carpet stretching but overall very good shape. I'm being picky. Didn't really use their tables but they had new chairs which was nice. The bar was well serviced and everyone had plenty of drinks (open bar) and the wine that came with it was very drinkable. We tried all the wines in advance and better than expected. Josh Cab & Pinot and Coppola Sav Blanc and prosecco. All were good. Had a berry mojito as the signature cocktail and it was also excellent. The staff that came with the Casino were all great. We planned a year in advance. I would say getting ahold of anyone on the phone or getting called back was a miss. Use email and the responses were usually better but this part of the experience was below average. In the end it all worked out. The venue had a cool stage that allowed for a surprise live performance from the bride and groom which was unique to this venue. Zero regrets for the decision to use the Casino. Very unique and cool. Lots of places on property for great pics.

She went above and beyond in ways both big and small, and it made all the difference. Her space is absolutely beautiful. It has such an artsy, welcoming feel and was perfect for our 80 person reception. The lighting created a magical atmosphere, the sound system worked flawlessly, and the indoor outdoor flow gave guests room to mingle, relax, and celebrate comfortably. One of the most generous touches was allowing us to use her home for staging the bride and groom. That level of trust and hospitality meant so much to our family. Throughout the entire process, she was accommodating, helpful, and always available with a calm, reassuring presence. If you are looking for a venue with heart, creativity, and an owner who truly cares, this is it. We are so grateful for everything she did to make the celebration unforgettable.

We recently had the opportunity to DJ an event at The Fish Tank in Capistrano Beach (34233 Via…read moreSanta Rosa, Dana Point), and it immediately impressed us. Start with the owner. Cate is professional, responsive, and genuinely collaborative. Communication is clear. Load-in is organized. The space is clean and well maintained. When a venue runs this smoothly, it reduces friction for vendors and creates a better experience for clients and guests. That kind of operational competence doesn't happen by accident. The design is what makes this venue distinct. The short-throw projectors transform the walls into a fully immersive aquarium or fishbowl environment. It's not a novelty effect; it's a production tool. For weddings, the room can feel atmospheric and romantic. For corporate events, branded visuals wrap the space in a way that feels custom and high-end. Few venues at this size offer that level of visual flexibility. From an audio standpoint, the room performs extremely well. We run MagiCali, a Southern California mobile DJ company specializing in weddings and corporate events, and we evaluate every room through a production lens. We look at ceiling height, wall material, reflection patterns, power distribution, and how low-end energy travels across a dancefloor. We've worked in luxury ballrooms, outdoor coastal venues, private estates, and converted industrial spaces. The Fish Tank is one of the rare venues where you don't have to compensate for the room. Speeches are articulate and easy to understand. Dinner music sits comfortably without overwhelming conversation. When it's time to transition into dancing, the room holds energy evenly instead of creating hot spots or dead zones. That tells you the space was built and tuned with care. For clients, that technical quality translates into confidence. You don't have to worry about muddy sound during toasts or harsh reflections once the music turns up. The venue supports the event instead of fighting it. There are many event spaces in Orange County. Very few combine strong visual identity, flexible projection capability, solid acoustics, and hands-on ownership. The Fish Tank is an undiscovered gem, and for what Cate currently charges, it represents exceptional value. It would not be surprising to see this venue commanding significantly higher rates in the near future. If you're planning a wedding, private celebration, or corporate event in Dana Point or Capistrano Beach, this space deserves serious consideration. It's distinctive, technically sound, and professionally run -- exactly the kind of venue that allows a well-executed event to shine.

I (the bride) was working in the area when I stopped by Aventura Ocean Club by myself at first to check the venue out. I loved it so much I had to bring my now husband back as soon as we got back from a mini vacation and on that day, we secured the location. Just imagine an amazing view of the harbor and sailboats while feeling relaxed in a room that is modern, intimate and designed well. This venue is NOT old school like some weddings that we have all been to, its updated and amazing. Besides the view, another huge selling point is the largest wrap around balcony I have seen at a wedding. Aventura Ocean Club sets up couches, chairs, and a firepit outside for the guests to enjoy while they are not inside. We had our wedding on 8/10/2019 and we have nothing but great things to say about the venue. We got married at Heritage Park in Dana Point (Simone coordinated all of this) and had our reception at Aventura Ocean Club. I am still getting compliments to this day about the venue, the view, the decorations, the food, the grand entrance that we did (think sail boat entrance) and even the florals, DJ and photographer we used (all who came recommended from Simone). We could not have asked for a better wedding and we are truly pleased. It is obvious Simone cares about her clients and truly believes in marriage and happiness, she was wonderful to work with. A few helpful hints about this venue: 1. It is intimate but fit 100 people on the inside with no issue. 2. Your guests will rave about the sail boat grand entrance if you choose this option. 3. If you use their wedding package/coordinating services (which you should in a heartbeat) your event will look even better than you imagined but with your style through and through. 4. Simone/Aventura Ocean Club/Orange County Beach Weddings and all her recommended vendors will give you the wedding of your dreams. 5. This was in our price range where a lot of other beach/beachy/coastal venues were significantly more money and you had to do everything yourselves.
