Chico's is one of my three go-to places when I feel the need for some retail therapy of the clothing kind. As a women's retailer, they carry casual clothing and accessories in-store with a small selection of dressier items - for a larger selection of all their stock, visit their website. Generally speaking, the price points at Chico's are pretty high but they always have a Sale section in the store and you can pick up some real bargains browsing through those racks (blazers for $19!). I normally only shop the sale section but recently decided I needed a few new items for summer and purchased a pair of denim shorts (flattering and comfortable) at full price. Based on the number of times I've already worn them, they're worth the cost. The accessories at Chico's are very trendy, and expensive - chunky rings, necklaces - so I don't often make accessory purchases here, but I have found an occasional fun piece on clearance for less than $20. The Northpoint location is my usual store and I've found the associates to be pleasant and helpful without hovering. They know the inventory and are quick to offer assistance in locating an item in other stores for customers. This store is located along Northpoint Parkway, well away from the mall and associated traffic snarl that it generates. Chico's is near the south end of this strip center with ample parking and easy in/out access at two stop lights. I'm a regular Chico's customer and I give them two thumbs up.

I ordered socks to be shipped to me since the online app took my order twice then cancelled it…read moresaying they couldn't verify my address which was absolutely ridiculous. However, despite me saying ship them to my home address the person taking the order at the store pulled up an old PO Box I used to have at PakMail. For almost two weeks the package was lost inside the PakMail. The manager there is Michael and he signed for it so I know it was there but misplaced. I thought it could have been returned to sender also. So I called the New Balance store to tell them about the mixup. The store tried to make it right by ordering a second package of socks to be shipped from the Mall of GA store. It's going to be delivered to my house. Today I stopped by the PakMail to see if my package was found. It was at the bottom of a bin. I don't know why they couldn't find it last week. I just called the Alpharetta store to tell them the package was found and I wanted to pay for the second package. Mark answered and I tried to explain what happened and that I wanted to pay for the second package of socks. He must have been busy or in a bad mood or he didn't believe me. He curtly said enjoy the free socks. If it was a screw up on their part I shouldn't have to pay. It just doesn't feel right. I'm an honest person. Oh well, I go there at least once a year to buy shoes and socks.

When I arrived, I realized that all of the shoes online are not necessarily carried within the store. They did have one of the shoes I had selected. I was able to try it on and walk around the store. The shoes were very comfortable, and they had many sizes between 9 and 12 in stock. However, they did not appear to have many wide shoes in stock. So, I will ultimately make my purchase online, but it was nice to go into the store and try on one of my selections. All of the staff who interacted with me were friendly and courteous. I'll definitely consider returning if I need to try on a pair of shoes, but I'll probably continue to make my purchases online. UPDATE: I went home that night and tried to order my shoes online. The email coupon would not work. It said that the coupon had expired which was not the case. I then started a chat session on their website. I found out that the coupon would not work with the shoes that I was purchasing. Apparently, almost every brand they carry is excluded from the coupons that they email their customers (see below). I don't think that I'll be making another purchase at DSW anytime soon. Fast forward to today, I went to pick up the pants and the lady I'd spoken to on the phone was there and she turned out to be the manager. I tried on all of the pants she'd set aside for me but was still having trouble with the fit so she circled the store and found me even more additional options. I think I stayed close to an hour there! I've never had a retail experience like this, where someone is truly invested in making sure I get exactly what I need and that I feel comfortable with my choices. After visiting this retail location a few times, it seems to me that their real expertise is in selling overpriced sweaters to city dwellers who want to look like Paul Bunyan but who would die from internet-withdrawal in the woods. Their clothing has a hefty pricetag and, in my opinion, doesn't hold up as well as other retailers' items. Why would I spent $140 on a half zip sweater to wear for any sort of outdoor activity? I'm not going camping in a $140 merino wool sweater - nor fishing - nor hunting - nor cutting wood...nor working in the yard...if you want to position yourself as an outdoors/outfitter then give me options that I can take seriously. I grew up outdoors. I still have a farm. I have to do things like clear brush regularly... Beyond the prices, I can't give this location any kudos for service. You can literally wander the whole store for 40 minutes without an associate ever greeting you.
