We read reviews and brought out a few companies to provide quotes. Paul (project manager) and Lynn (designer) came together and offered some great ideas to compliment our vision. They also provided a price quote on the spot. We ultimately decided to go with Noble because Paul was confident, without exception, that his team could deliver the shower we wanted; other companies wanted us to make structural changes or exchange materials we'd already purchased. With Noble's good reviews as encouragement, we moved ahead and we're so happy we did! Our shower turned out better than we'd hoped and the work was all done within the estimated timeframe. The guys who worked on the shower, and those who oversaw the work, were all great. We're awaiting the glass enclosure for our shower (a separate company) but I'm attaching a photo of the beautiful work Noble did for us. We plan to have Noble renovate the rest of our master bathroom in the near future.

NK&B outsourced to a third-party to come and take necessary measurements in order to provide us with a quote, a quote to include removing sink and cooktop, installing new countertops, and reinstalling sink and cooktop. That was early December and after a number of calls, voicemails, and emails by me inquiring about the quote, NK&B has not responded. Nothing. We did this based on an excellent experience in our previous home in Annapolis, MD where they did a large basement renovation project for it. They helped us install a beverage refrigerator in a wet bar, put recessed lighting into multiple rooms, and installed ceiling fans. The work was extremely well done. We also had them do all the work while we were away and we came home to the work 100% finished and the project areas spotlessly clean. During the entire process our project manager communicated clearly via email and text messages about our project. Their communication and professionalism is unmatched. SLOPPY and INEPT…read more Run, do not walk AWAY from Bohan Contracting! For 2.5 years we have been dealing with this inept, insulting, incompetent company. According to several subcontractors, Bohan was a good company initially, but they became greedy and took on too many projects. According to subcontractors in the area we have consulted with, superior Annapolis contractors refuse to work for them, in a few cases calling out their "designer" Jaime Esposito in particular. Bohan parked a huge dumpster in our driveway, insisted that we be out of our house in early January 2022, though the work on our house didn't start for MONTHS. Bohan's trucks from other parts of town would arrive nightly to dump their garbage. Bohan's workers told us they weren't allowed to dispose of refuse in the other neighborhoods in which they were working. That speaks to the consistent mistreatment of us and another family on our street who hired Bohan, judging our neighborhood to be not worth prioritizing. They are still not finished with either project! They've left us twisting in the wind -- but have had no problem collecting money from us. We were told we would be out of our house for 5 - 6 months and it turned out to be almost 16 months! The cost was almost TWICE their quote. Bohan's workers barely spoke English, were sloppy, didn't measure anything and were completely unskilled. On one visit to the site, they had to find a child who spoke English to even be able to communicate with us. Every subcontractor Bohan hired appeared to be the bottom of the barrel. Every day we find mistakes and poor workmanship. It was, and continues to be, the most depressing and disappointing experience we've ever had. They refused to compensate us for any of the aggravation they put our family through. We ended up sleeping in the workshop of our carpenter son, who was unable to work for the entire 15+ months we were forced to stay there. The architect/engineer DAMES Design, who we had great hopes for, left out items such as the water heater, found egregious errors in Bohan's work (including going over her head to hire a different engineer) but then told us WE had to pay her an extra $2000+ for dealing with it! Avoid DAMES Design! Advice before renovating your house -- HAVE A LAWYER on hand to read the contract first and to be ready for litigation.

I looked them up and discovered that nearly all of the ten or so companies that came by were from out of state. I researched, found Black Anchor, saw that they are local, and am very happy I went with them. They were great from beginning to end. Every single person I met on their team was courteous, pleasant and professional. I can't really imagine being any happier with this company and their work, and that's rare for me to say. If they did it all for free that might make me a little more happy but I guess that's a little unrealistic so I won't hold it against them. But they patiently helped and worked with us throughout the process, answering all our questions and helping us make sure that all the storm damage on our home was identified and addressed appropriately. And that damage in our case went beyond just damage to our roof, but also to downspouts, metal accents on the exterior of our home, window screens and more. Black Anchor helped us with all of that. They tore off our old roof and replaced it with the new roof using architectural shingles in one day. They were focused and efficient and have been a pleasure to work with all along the way. You can tell they really want to do a good job for their customers and I see why their ratings are so high here. I could go on but I think you get the picture. In short, I highly recommend Black Anchor Roofing. It seems to me like a great company that does great work and that is run by a great group of guys.

We entered into a contract with Don for a modular addition. Before he tries to belittle this review by saying "I didn't pay him". Yes, I withheld the final 2% left on the contract but we had already overpaid him. We have invoice dates and payment dates to prove this. Don has a history of NOT PAYING his subcontractors and they started sending bills and lien notices to my house. Contractors started showing up at our house demanding payment that Don owed them. Many sub-contractors talked about how it was hard to get Don to pay them and how he would start ignoring their calls for payment. They would also tell us Don would tell them it was because we had not paid him, which is not true. As soon as we made Don aware of subs asking us for money, he blocked our numbers and did not finish the rest of the job. He will say we refused to let him finish his work but that is not true, we told him to forget about repeatedly trying to fix the drywall he put up but that he needed to finish the rest of the work. We have a giant bubbly vein running across our stairwell wall that Don could not fix after several tries. We were living in so much drywall dust for WEEKS because of all his attempts. Here are just a few issues we had since google puts a limit of 4100 characters, we could very well write pages worth. His contracts are HEAVILY skewed in his favor and designed for him to basically just walk away on the trail end. We had paid 95% of the contract just on delivery of the modular addition. Leaving only 5% left on the contract before many subs even started working. Don estimated completion to be 6-8 weeks after the addition was delivered, he blocked us at about 17 weeks in and job is still not finished 25 weeks later. Don had his young family member doing most of the work that he later told us he does not pay wages to but just pays his bills for him. No wonder the work is so sloppy. CEH was painting 2 different colors and only had 1 brush every time they would paint, he would constantly have to wash the paint brush in our sink leaving a mess. His son scratched our new dining room chair by using it as a stool and then taking a dirty vacuum hose and vacuuming up dust on it, scratching it (yes, I have video). He borrowed lots of our own tools and damaged some, ladders, shovels, brooms etc. Our basement flooded to his negligence. I told him several times that they did not seal the gap between the foundation of the original house and the addition. We got heavy rain and because of this we were sucking out water from our basement for over 6 hours in the middle of the night. Our addition did not have siding or gutters for several weeks leaving the addition vulnerable to the elements and during a heavy rain we had water leaks between the addition and current home damaging our ceilings. His painting skills are abysmal at best, he WILL not always use tape. He will just go back and repaint over his blemishes, create more blemishes and then go back and repaint those. When he caulked our bathroom sink he put the caulk over an inch up the new wall and an inch on the sink and then tried to scrape it off the sink and painted over the caulk on the wall. Weve had over 5 subcontractors contact about money that he hasn't paid to them and im sure there are more. When we found him, he initially had good reviews and then a few months later we started noticing the bad ones come in. This led us to judiciary case searching him and his business. We also noticed it looks like he has friends and family posting his good reviews. For the cement parging on the cinderblock foundation, He did the front of the house and stopped. The front portion doesn't look bad but then waited weeks later to finish on the coldest day of the year, This type of work is meant to be done in warmer weather so as you can imagine, it looks horrible and is cracked up all over, sloppy and very uneven.
