Moon's just finished redoing the floor in my Spirit Room (kept for spiritual matters). Years ago a…read morewater heater located within the wall of that room's closet had leaked and caused the floor to bow. Unfortunately two (or was it three?) rounds of handymen had failed to fix it. Two years ago I had the house renovated and had given specific instructions for the people to straighten and repair the floor in there before laying down the new stuff. They did not. I was surprised that Moon's said they'd have to take out a large strip of floor tiles or whatever they're called when they're vinyl, even though the dip was about six square feet, but okay. The strips have grooves in the sides that can't just be ripped out and replaced. Then it turned out they had to redo the entire room! But whew, that explained the estimate they'd given me. Instead of hair-raising, it now sounded quite fair. I found a box of leftover planks and prepared for them. They helped me move out the remaining large stuff that I hadn't counted on having to be removed. When they got through the usable planks, we discovered the box o' planks was for the attached studio and not the room and didn't match, so a second crew had to come back with a new supply of planks for the entire room, since they'd been unable to match or even come close to what I'd had. Same estimate; okay. Well, they didn't order QUITE enough, but the third crew and a new box were able to finish the job! The room is GORGEOUS. The planks they chose are alike enough to the rest of the house that if you aren't looking for it, you don't notice the difference. They replaced the quarter-round with matching oak quarter-round instead of the white stuff that had been there before. Classy! The floor is now SMOOOOOOTH, no dip. I am so satisfied! Would recommend them.

Nobody climbs anymore because they have huge machines to lift them. My garden is large and randomly planted with narrow paths, but they maneuvered these huge machines around without damaging anything, which amazed me. They were very careful and cleaned up behind themselves. When they left you could hardly tell they had been there. They have been in business for over 40 years. And it just goes to show that professionalism and integrity pay off.

The last job was highly technical, removing a 100+ year old oak right next to the house and butting against the deck. In addition, a prized small tree was directly under the tree. They started at the top carefully cabling each limb down and away from the house and deck. It was a well orchestrated maneuver. Every last twig was cleaned up. This is the kind of experience that has built my trust in Jacob and his talented crew. Just yesterday they removed a tree that had fallen on one of my tenants cars and was also on a power line. Due to the emergency nature of the job - Jacob's crew showed up the next day and left the home-site clean as a whistle. The incredible thing is that Jacobs pricing is always fair and reasonable. Very highly recommended.

I would highly recommend Carpet One.

Once I got up there, they said they don't have the right tools to cut the wood. Yet, we walked right past a skilsaw and two sawhorses on the way to look at the wood. People on phone site were friendly and helpful, plenty of stones to choose from in a variety of patterns and colors. There was some confusion over whether an item marked "sold" actually was (spoiler alert: it wasn't) so make sure to ask if you like a particular one even if it's marked (especially given the stone deliveries come infrequently). Brian and the installer crew were punctual, friendly, careful and meticulous (as was the initial measurement and selection of stone sections for the parts of the kitchen for best effect). Clearly these guys knew what they were doing, and it showed. That said we are a detail-oriented house and noticed (over time) some small issues (a small seam that needed some revision as well as a stain left by a silicone drain mat (advice: don't use them if you have white stone)). Suffice to say Brian returned three times, listened, was friendly and made the needed changes. The company really stands behind their work which is both rare and very appreciated. Our sincere thanks to Brian and the team at BU--we are very happy with our countertops and backsplashes and have received many positive comments on both the materials and workmanship. We highly recommend them for your countertop needs.

They did the MOST SLOPPY JOB I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! I had them come in for a fix job of some other company that got away with money they did not deserve BUT!!! That OTHER company did Excellent compared to this one! Unbelievable, I know, but VERY TRUE! (LIKE I SAID..I HAVE PICTURES More than 200 of them) They were very nice in the beginning until I saw what damage they did to my bathtub, shower rod, all my cabinets in EVERY Room have paint on them, Colors on Colors Very noticeable ! Some places that were painted supposedly 2 coats, you still see the wood where they missed it!! If you had (in my opinion) done 2 coats you would have seen it the 2nd time!! Runs, drips of paint everywhere. When We called to have them fix the issues, they said they would but!!! Not til end of August.. They would not come out to see the depth of my complaints! I asked about coming out on a weekend, Nope they are working 7 days a week! I was told. Found more problems, we Called and left messages and No return calls until I called and had to be firm and say that I was going to take it to the next level (which the Wife called within 10 minutes) Telling me I was rude for saying that I believe that they were not going to come back and finish this mess because they got paid in full for an incomplete Job! Yess I am furious this is my home! She told me to be quiet and that I was going to hear her 1st and then she would let me talk!! Wow! But, it got heated because I went to give my disabled son a bath and found out that paint was all over/in tub! He has a gtube for feeding and those paint chips could have gotten in his button or the hole around it and end up in his stomach!! She did NOT care At ALL! I scrubbed and scrubbed and it still is not all out and I have to hold my child down (Due to all the Trauma he has had with his button from doctors) to put a patch Over his gtube to make sure what I couldn't get out with magic eraser and cleaner, would not get to his button much less in Stomach! RIDULOUS! TO TOP IT OFF.... They painted things like door stoppers, light fixtures and told me that they did me a favor due to Rust on them, which we were changing All fixtures anyway after the painters were done!! I am VERY DISAPPOINTED AND VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE WHOLE THING!!! I HOPE THAT EVERYONE READS THIS BEFORE LETTING THEM COME TO YOUR HOME! I could go on and on (you think I already have) But This is a nightmare that I have to look at everyday until fixed!

I come here when I don't want to travel into Raleigh or Durham to go to one of the big box stores…read more They also carry the line of BGE (Big Green Egg) products - a huge plus, but their stock is limited. It's difficult to suggest they are competitive when their stock is limited to empty slots for what might be competitively priced items and large selection of higher priced items. As Angela pointed out, the staff isn't particularly proactive about finding out when items will be re-stocked or helping a potential customer find what they need. I cannot remember how many times I've walked in here only to walk out empty handed because I could not find what I was looking for and there was little or no help from staff. If the savings (extra gas and time vs price tag of items) is worth it for me to head to a big box store, off I'll go. Latest example for me was stopping this past weekend to find a new faucet for a bathroom sink. There were only one or two brands available at this T&C location, and nothing on the shelf under $40. That's not to say there wasn't something priced under $40, it just wasn't in stock. Off to the Big Blue Borg box store I went and found exactly what I was looking for, for about $25. That's more than enough of a difference for me to shop at the big box stores. For small items, T&C isn't a bad place to stop, for specific home projects that might end up in a higher price range - it might be wise to do some www research before stopping in.
