Demetrice showed up on time for the estimate on Sept. 27, 2020, and for the initial work on the floor on Oct. 7. Within five minutes of our leaving the house, he called to say that the job would cost $300 extra because it would require re-staining, to which we agreed. When we returned home two days later, 90% of the floor looked wonderful with the satin finish we had requested. However, the remaining 10% had not been sanded or received finish. When we called Demetrice, he agreed to come touch it up. Unfortunately, during this touch-up, he applied a very heavy coat of a shiny finish on the affected areas. When we called him back the second time, he said he would refinish the entire floor, which he did, with a less consistent finish than the first time. On one strip of the floor, his roller was not consistently covered with the poly, so the floor was striped. When he returned to refinish this strip, he again applied a shiny poly. Though he agreed to come back yet again to fix the problem, he never showed up and ignored our calls and texts. We have now finished this last strip of floor ourselves. Upon closer inspection, we have found numerous splotches of poly on the walls, woodwork, and carpet. The worst part is that Demetrice never apologized for our inconvenience of having our house disrupted for over a month or our having to pay for two nights in a hotel due to his negligence. We cannot recommend his work.

We requested a high traffic finish over the oil based polyurethane finish because we have a small dog. He also had to fill gaps between the ends of boards due to hardwood shifting on our slab floors. After 2 months of trying to get a straight answer and resolution from the original contractor, I decided to look elsewhere. I found J & C Flooring on Yelp, a local family-owned business. The experience with J&C was quite the opposite: excellent communication, fast response for quote, competitive pricing, very knowledgeable, and the floor was repaired quickly and correctly. Was given a quote after numerous times asking for it. When trying to arrange to have other items repaired in home and schedule installation, they just vanished. This is very unprofessional behavior, especially since I have a year's warranty on my flooring.
