Tribal Chimney Sweep

Tribal Chimney Sweep

Horrible communication between Owner David and secretary Lashawna. Started out pretty reasonable…read morefor scheduling but somewhat odd as I had to call a number to schedule with the 'secretary'. Couldn't get a consistent quote for a chimney service and potential Chimney flue cap for a gas fireplace until a couple calls after scheduling. On the day of the scheduled appointment (a day I took off work), the secretary called me around 1pm and owner took over the phone and requested to reschedule for a family emergency (totally reasonable) and we agreed for service 2 weeks later. Called day before service to check in and make sure we were still on schedule for the next day, and owner took the phone from the secretary again and asked questions about the job. After explaining the job location and details, the owner had said he would be coming after I sent some pictures and told me the chimney cleaning price again, but did not give a specific cap quote as requested, and said he would give me a call back later that same evening. I didn't receive a call that evening and thought that the owner was busy. With this in mind, I totally understood if they may have forgotten at the time and figured we could get it figured out the next day during the sweeping service. The next day came (another day I take off work) and I didn't hear from either secretary or owner until after 12pm (we scheduled for 10am that morning) which the secretary was breaking up over the phone and saying they weren't coming to do the service due to technical computer related errors, and the owner then took the phone again and told me I would have to reschedule because he was dealing with a big computer issue. I respectfully asked if that could handled by the secretary and why a computer issue was directly linked to why he couldn't provide a physical service and why he would be pushing back back our appointment for the second time; noting both times were on the day of the scheduled appointment. The owner was repetitive and talked over me a couple times and insisted he has to be the one to fix his computer and if I want service it would be rescheduled and MAYBE could be done the the next day. The owner then gave a quote for a chimney flue cap install I felt was unreasonable. I brought this up with him and how I was really disappointed I was in the poor (or lack of) communication from him and his business and was confused if he would actually be able to make it since he said he might be able to come out. The owner didn't respond to that, and so I stated that in the amount of time from the originally scheduled appointment I could have sought booking another service. The owner then said to me that he didn't really care for people wanting to choose another business as he is PLENTY busy himself at the beginning of his busy season, but then doubled back when I asked if he even wanted my business then. Went back and forth and the owner was trying to be kind to compensate me for the constant rescheduling to reduce the price of the sweeping. After this we verbally plan to schedule service the next day, but I stated I would not be looking to put a cap on for the quote price and only interested in the sweeping service. The owner quickly contradicted himself as he then stated the previous reduced rate for the sweeping was actually no longer the discounted price because of the poor communication but rather an incentive to buy an arguably expensive cap and install service. I stated that again I would not be interested in a cap and only the sweeping service, to which the owner finally tells me that he actually is not going to do our scheduled service the following day and he was going to deal with his computer issue instead. Overall, extremely poor communication from both members of the business but more particular from the owner. Service pricing and quote pricing are not transparent and consistent; as an example, at times on one phone call a service could be $200 and then another call a week later it's now actually $250. I strongly encourage others to try looking into other chimney servicing services unless you want really bad communication and consistently pushed back work dates day of service. Even if another business tells you it may be a couple weeks or month wait during the busy season, in the time it takes you to actually schedule your appointment and have it pushed back several times, you would've been able to get your chimney serviced by another company with way better communication skills at a comparable consistent transparent quote or price. I respectfully hope that the owner takes these comments constructively, and others looking for servicing or a quote know what they may be getting into.

I called David Treadwell of Tribal Chimney to chase some birds from my chimney. I reached him on…read morethe first try and he fit me in on the same day's schedule. He quickly assessed the situation, cleaned the flue, replaced the chimney cap, fixed the damper, and repaired the crown. He left the house spotless and his fee was reasonable.

Seek an alternative to United Granite and avoid hate and discontent in the future!…read more I'll try to keep offer you an abridged and more detailed review, depending on what kind of reader you are. Contributors who get too emotional and write long rants about a business or service are generally dismissed. Plus, if you're lazy, like me, you won't read anything that's too long. The most important takeaway is that I'm presenting facts, not opinions. So, I highly suggest that if you are in need of natural/stone materials (marble and granite), you read this review and consider avoiding United Granite. I've had nothing but trouble with United Granite from the jump. For those who are impatient, lack the time to read a long review, or haven't taken their Adderall, here's the short version. - Customer Service: Poor (UG doesn't stand by their work, doesn't stand by their products/materials, and repeatedly told me why they couldn't correct the problems I was having with my new granite surround while continually reminding me that I was lucky to get the purchase price I received for this particular type of granite because the price per square foot increased since the original purchase date. What are those problems? Two cracks. One upon installation, which they did a reasonable job collecting, and the second, appearing for no discernible reason at all over the holidays. Strangely, this second crack was in the flat horizontal cross-piece of granite at the top of the surround. When I contacted UG about this, they said there was nothing they were willing to do, and essentially refused to send anyone out to even take a look at the issue and try to correct it) - Tech/Installer Proficiency: Below Avg (template technician was totally lost and the installers made excuses as to why they couldn't or wouldn't do things that I've since learned are simple and rudimentary for a fireplace surround installation. And oh, yeah - they cracked a piece of granite while installing it) - Quality of Installation: Poor (installer cracked the floor slab in front of the hearth on day one. UG had to dispatch yet another technician to fill the crack and re-polish the slab. Of everyone I dealt with, this particular technician seemed to be the only one who really knew what he was doing, and his work was satisfactory) - Quality of Materials/Products: Poor (most of the detail about my issues with the granite are above, but how ridiculous is it that they offer granite that is so flimsy that it cracks upon installation, and cracks again for absolutely no apparent reason at all? What's more, why would UG increase the price of granite that is so fragile that it can't even support itself when affixed to a wall? I have since learned that the reason the price went up was more for UG's convenience than because of the actual 'high quality' of the granite. One of their customer reps disclosed to me that this particular type of granite was a real pain to deal with because it was so fragile. OK, well then why is UG even offering it to customers, and why did they increase the price by nearly 50%?) Bottom line - look elsewhere for your granite Bottom line: Consumers should avoid purchasing materials or paying for services provided by United Granite. Failing to do so would be a frustrating and costly mistake easily avoided by seeking more dependable and reputable alternatives for their granite and tile needs. They're not the only game in town, and as I mentioned above, spending a few more dollars per square foot will help you avoid a lot of hate and discontent in the future.
