We came in on Christmas Eve and a good number of businesses close entirely through Christmas or have very limited hours. Luckily we found Takumi and were able to get a table. They have a very large menu but I opted for a Miso Ramen bowl. It was really big, super hot (temperature), and tasty.
It definitely hit the spot because the ambient temperature was 27 degrees Fahrenheit! There was a wind chill also which really made things worse.
Anyway, this rarely happens but I couldn't finish my bowl. Partly because it was a large portion but honestly I wasn't feeling100%. The broth was slightly salty (as compared to the Shoyu broth) and it was rich. They put in a raw egg into the broth and added a generous amount of fatty pork. On an ordinary day, the richness wouldn't have bothered me and I would have eaten 90% or more of the bowl. I focused on eating the veggies (bean sprouts and bok choy), the ramen itself, and only some of the pork.
Service was ok. We had a party of six and the couldn't/wouldn't combine tables so we sat apart. It's a small restaurant so getting their attention was easy. read more
