THE ONLY REVIEW YOU NEED TO READ: Takumi vs. Naniwa Takumi has better noodles. They are more firm, thicker and tastier. The broth is not bad, more on a saltier soy side. Naniwa wins with its broth. The noodles aren't great, too soft. But the soup has great miso flavor. What to order: If you like miso or you don't have a preference - go with miso. If you are a healthy, clean eater and don't want it too busy - go with shio - the salt based ramen If you think miso isn't for you and shio sounds too boring. Than the soy based shoyu is perfect for you. Should I go for the fancier ramen: If you want Karaage, I'd order it separately. In a soup, they soaked the soup and lose their crunchiness. If you are debating between karaage or teriyaki - go with Karaage if you like fried stuff and teriyaki if you like the chicken texture. Both are highly recommended. Takumi = Takumi? If you don't ramen often - you might not notice a difference but if you are picky about your ramen. The OG takumi is the clear winner. The rest are alright. Is it worth standing in line for? If you hate the line, go to a different takumi. If you are just for a visit and want the experience the best ramen, then you'd have to wait in line :)

Came here for dinner and waited about 35 minutes. Don't really think the place is worth the big line. Pork broth was pretty bland, nothing special about it. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go back.

Came here based on the amazing reviews and frankly, the food was okay, but I am not sure about all the hype as I've had better ramen and definitely much better Tokutsu Ramen! There were 6 if us and we waited close to 50mins to get a table. Thank god for the heaters they had to keep us warm, although I was frozen cold by the time we got in. The place is more geared towards 4 and under so our party sat at the bar, near the open kitchen, and it was good of them to try to accommodate us to sit together. I got the Tonkutsu Ramen mit Lauchzwiebein (€12.80) and also tasted the Vegetarian Ramen and the Takayoki. While everything tasted decent, it wasn't anything super spectacular. Also the salt levels were super high as felt incredibly thirsty afterwards. We got a side of extra vegetables and all it consisted of was cabbage and those store-bought yellow fried onions! I'm in no rush to come back. Yelp 248/ 2018

Very happy to have good ramen considering the horrible Asian food experiences in Germany recently. I had the special shoyu ramen which is very special indeed. In contrast to most shoyu ramen, this one had an unusual amount of cabbage, which I suppose has been by design to cater to the German crowd. When there too many vegetables in the ramen, the taste of the broth changes but I didn't notice that. Kudos to takumi for pulling that off. That said those who want to stick to more traditional fare should opt for the regular shoyu. In addition to the ramen I ordered a chicken rice dish for three extra euros and it was way too much food for me and the dish was not as flavorful as I expected. I suggest you pass on the chicken rice bowl too. As for the ramen, the broth was fantastic and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The ramen was a much needed Asian food serving I needed after 2 weeks of heavy Arabic and German food. If you wish to visit you should note that there is usually a long lounge out the door. And it gets bad around 7. Plan accordingly!

Their tonkotsu ramen was decent, but the star is their takoyaki. A must have if you visit

Excellent veggie ramen. Good size and the broth and noodles were excellent. Make sure to arrive early as there is always a queue.

Ramen and a Tiger beer. Might be the best Düsseldorf night ever.

I came to Düsseltorf for a week long business trip an got to admit - I was not that much looking forward to it. But after checking out Düsseldorf "specialties" on the LonelyPlanet Homepage and only then realising that Düsseldorf has a huge Japanese community - my mind was set on how to spend my first night here. Takumi was top rated and so that's where I headed. To be honest - the outer appearance of the restaurant does make that much of a huge impression. Its a small shop that I almost overlooked (and since coming in quite early no long line was leading the way). The menu outside did not make that much sense to me so i decided to just ask for a table an let the waiter make his best recommendation to me. I settled for the Teriyaki Miso Ramen - combined with a Tiger Beer and I think it was the best choice I could have ever made. I wish I could have bathed in that bowl of soup...it was pure deliciously heaven... Now I really actually think I will have to come back to Düsseldorf just to eat that Ramen agein. Who would have thought?!

Yum ramen with an interesting changing menu. Compared to Naniwa, Takumi has wilder ramen choices and more specials from specific regions. Everything I've tried has been tasty! The same Japanese company that owns this place also owns a few other Japanese restaurants in the area, and in my opinion, all their restaurants charge a lil too much. Ramen here is around 10-13 EUR, so one person could end up spending 13-16 EUR with a drink. Also I feel like portions could be a little bit bigger, especially for the price. Decor is nice, and there are large windows to watch the ramen cooking action. The staff is always friendly and if there's a line, it usually goes pretty quickly.

Takumi means 'Maestro' in Japanese...and it is not far from the truth! ;-) It's probably the 2nd best Ramen shop in Düsseldorf (with 'Naniwa'), located in 'Little Japan' just in front of 'Nikko hotel' where I use to stay... Very good quality, affordable price and nice location, you have to try it!

This is the best ramen I had compare to the ones in Brussels and Amsterdam. When we arrived on Easter Sunday afternoon there are about 4 people in the line before us. We got in after 15 mins waiting. There was longer lines in the other ramen places around the corner. Two large ramen, we had, one spicy miso one miso with egg. And a octopus starter. And a green tea ice cream. The snack is also good, but I am totally in awe with their ramen. Great noodles, chewy and elastic. Great soup. I finished every drop of it and was moaning of happiness all the time during the eating. The green tea ice cream was also great! And they have really good service. I am going to miss all of it after I go back to Amsterdam. I even considered ordering their dry noodles online to see if they have delivery to Netherlands. That is how happy I am. And by the way, most of the dish and I believe highlight of the dish is ramen. There are also a few don which is rice with some dish on top. But they don't have sushi or eels if that is what you are after, there are plenty of those in near by streets in this Japanese neighborhood.

After being in Italy for about a month and a half, and having no quality Asian food at all... this place was a godsend. Quality Japanese food. The ramen broth was extremely rich and flavorful, all the ingredients tasty, delicious, and authentic. One complaint: we got outdoor seating, and it started to rain in the middle of our meal. Their umbrellas were less than helpful. When we asked the waiters what we should do, they were at a loss for words. Good thing the rain was just a minor drizzle, and we were able to maneuver ourselves under the umbrellas. There was a line, so be prepared to wait!

Nice staff, easy and inviting menu, and fast service. For me as a vegetarian there was only one dish to choose, but it was tasty.

Be sure to order it with vegan noodles if you want it vegan. The ramen came out in about 3 minutes! The portion is reasonable, with really nice, firm, al dente noodles, one piece of bok choy, a few slices of raw tomato, 3 pieces of fried tofu, and shaved green onion. The broth is of course what tends to make or break a ramen, and the broth here was excellent: nutty, lightly spicy, complex, without being too heavy. Really authentic tan tan men broth here. Not exceptional, hence the 4-star review, but damn impressive. I'd prefer some better toppings (e.g., replace the tomato with something like menma, kikurage, or something a little more authentic). Very friendly, appreciative Japanese service. Definitely recommended for great vegan/veggie ramen.

Vegetable ramen 4.5 max stars if I could…read more Takezo offers a solid and enjoyable vegetable ramen that stands out for its thick flavorful broth. The broth has enough depth to support two extra servings of noodles which says a lot about its richness. The ingredients taste fresh and the bowl includes greens corn sprouts and tofu skin that all blend well with the noodles. The portion size is medium and works well for a casual lunch or lighter dinner. The service is where the experience feels more typical of Germany rather than what you might expect from a Japanese restaurant. The staff is not very attentive and the overall service can feel slow or indifferent. There is no English menu available which may be challenging for some visitors. However you can still get by with simple English and a few basic German phrases and the staff will usually understand enough to take your order. The restaurant itself has a straightforward casual vibe and the food quality is consistently good. The ramen is the highlight with its strong broth and reliable flavor. If you are craving vegetable ramen with a thicker broth and do not mind the slower service Takezo is worth a visit.
