I found myself needing a dr on Christmas eve, so I went to this take care clinic inside a nearby Walgreens. I like the automated check in process, tells you how many people are ahead of you and an estimated wait time. The nurse was friendly. The physicians assistant who treated me was also very pleasant to deal with. She was very thorough. I felt like she spent a decent amount of time with me, listening to my concerns. Due to the previous review, I already anticipated issues transferring my prescription to a cvs (and truthfully even my awesome primary care dr has issues sending electronic scripts, in a digital world, it happens once in a while.) so even though I don't use Walgreens pharmacy, it felt silly to leave there and go to cvs. So I told them to send it to the Walgreens, 3 feet away lol. They had my script immediately, and when the pharmacist ran it through my insurance it was very expensive. So the pharmacist literally walked over to the take cafe clinic and the dr and pharmacist found a cheaper alternative. It was so fast! It was awesome that they could resolve an issue like that so quickly, rather than playing phone tag back and forth while I wait. Got my meds, got home and a day later am feeling a lot better. I will never leave my kickass primary care dr, but if I find myself I'll on a weekend or holiday, I will definitely go to this take care clinic again! *also, they called to followup and make sure I was feeling better and that I was satisfied with my visit the following monday. read more

I went recently for a cold, I was skeptical because I go to a large clinic but I did not want to wait until the next day. My appointment was at 2:10 and I was promptly called and the visit was very pleasant and I was out by 2:30, she was really wonderful. I am actually going to take my son next week I was so impressed. great service read more

My fiancé and I went here a few days ago because he had been having severe stomach pains for a few days. The nurse was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Having been sick herself, she was sneezing and sniffling constantly. When he told her his symptoms, she flatly replied, "I can't prescribe you pain meds, you know." Yes...obviously. Also, did you ever think that maybe we came to a clinic to receive a diagnosis or proper medication? She also assumed my fiancé was a child by asking if he needed a pass to get back (to school, I'm guessing). She ended up just giving him some vitamined water and later that day, he ended up going to the ER. So...no, I don't recommend this clinic, specifically because of this lady. The only reason it isn't getting just 1 star is because we did not have to wait once we arrived. read more

This is the little clinic inside the Walgreens of the same address. The whole visit started out ok. I had what seemed to be an upper respiratory infection. I needed to see a doc or a nurse practitioner to make sure it wasn't anything more serious. I did not need a hospital affiliated clinic that would charge me an arm & a leg. I was seen by Rosemary Magner, RN, FNP - who was very pleasant. The visit was relatively quick, but not so quick I felt as though I was rushed. I chose to have my prescription sent to the Kroger nearest my apartment (review forthcoming), because I don't care for Walgreens and the clinic isn't affiliated with them anyway. This is where the problems started. First of all, I was walking out of the Walgreens when I realized that the cost of my visit had not been disclosed. WTH? I started shuffling through the papers Ms. Manger handed me. There was a receipt. $109 for an exam + strep test. About what I expected. $89 visit, $20 test. I've read complaints about these clinics pushing the strep test, but in my case it was warranted. Normally, I would ask "How much?" as soon as she whipped it out, but with my tonsils trying to escape through my ear canals, I wasn't thinking too quickly. Be advised, the practitioner takes your license and credit card first, then conducts the exam, enters your info, then hands your cards back to you and hands you your papers. In case you're thinking "How stupid are you to sign your slip and not look at the cost?" I would totally think that, too. Back to the prescription. Ms. Manger told me it will be sent electronically. When asked where I wanted it sent to, I not only told her the store name, but proceeded to give her the store address and look up the phone number in my phone. "I only need the zip code," she tells me. Ummm, ok. "There, I found it. Kroger on Montrose," she says. So I leave from there and head to the Disco Kroger. After buying sick day necessities like soup, throat drops, and soy ice cream, I head to the pharmacy. They have no record of the prescription. Worse, they don't have the medication, but have something comparable. And the phone number for the clinic (see above) is the 866 number for Take Care Health Texas, PC. Obviously, I left without my medicine. The pharmacist had to leave a number with the main office, while they tried to get in touch with Ms. Manger. After I get home, changed into pj's, and heat up my soup, and annoyed-sounding Ms. Manger calls, asking if I'd left a message for her to call me back. "No," I explain that it was most likely the pharmacist, she doesn't have the prescription, nor the medication in stock. This made Ms. Manger sound even more irritated. I promise, she wasn't half as irritated as me at this point. I'm just to hoarse to properly convey it. "That's a medication that most pharmacies have!" Whatever. I offer to give her the pharmacy number. "No. I can look it up." What the hell? Why the opposition to me giving you the number of the pharmacy I use? Is there a problem with adults pranking medical offices by having them send prescriptions to incorrect pharmacies? Does she get how much frustration this has caused me? I just want my tonsils to get out of my ears, or at least feel like it for an hour or so. And if I could calm this cough down for a few minutes, that'd be wicked awesome, too. I bet Kroger loves me bringing my germs in not once, but twice for maximum exposure. It's not the worst experience a person can have, and the clinic did what I needed them to. I know with certainty I don't have strep, and that was achieved relatively quickly. It's the only reason I gave them two stars. read more

Took my daughter to the Walgreens Take Care Clinic and chose to pay cash when we checked in .I thought I had enough cash. Let me just say I did not have a problem with the fee I just thought I had enough cash. So, when I realize I don't have enough cash I tried to pay with a credit card. The girl at the desk said it had to be cash. i explained I did not have enough cash which is why I wanted to pay with a credit card. She insists it has to be cash because upon checking in cash was the option chosen. I said again but I am trying to pay with a credit card because I don't have enough cash. She insisted it had to be cash. This is when I told her, in that case I will return another day to bring you cash because all I have for you now is a credit card. She tells me she would have to void the cash option and gets up to walk to the back. I couldn't believe her! So, I walked out, my daughter stayed behind, called my husband for some more cash, went to meet my husband who gave me plenty of cash and I drove back to the clinic with the cash in hand and hand it to the nurse practitioner at this point. She looks at my cash and says, it has to be a credit card because they voided out the cash option. She adds this would not be an issue if you had just made the correct payment option, now I will have to void the credit card option!. OMG!!!!! Then she asks, will you need change? i knew how much cash I handed her but said, I don't don't know, do I? She counts it and says she will owe me $1. She adds that in order to give me that dollar she will have to void everything and I will have to take a seat outside because it will take her 10 minutes to do the void. Wow! On the ride home, my daughter tells me they had been rude to her in the back. The nurse became upset when she had to take my daughter's pulse on her wrist because the finger thingie didn't want to work" because of your nails." she also said the girl was rude when asking about her medical history. Apparently, they don't have one for you to fill out. So much for a quick and easy clinic appt. read more

I had a really great experience at this clinic. I had an accident last week that required stitches (see my forthcoming review on FlatRate Moving :-P), and they needed to be removed within 7-10 days. Of course I'm out of town on business all week so I was not going to be home before the 10 days was up. I had planned on going to a local Urgent Care clinic, but then a colleague told me about the Walgreen's clinics so I figured I'd give them a try. Walked into the clinic and signed in at the kiosk easy peasy. It told me there were 4 people ahead of me and my wait would be about an hour. I waited about 15 minutes, then my name was called. I thought I was getting lucky, but turns out I was just being called for intake and the hour hadn't started yet. That's the minus one star, I ended up waiting a bit longer than I expected. The nice thing was that they took my phone number so I could leave and run an errand while waiting. Once I came back I had to wait about another 15 minutes, then I was called in. The PA was very nice, removed my stitches with no problem and applied some steri strips to be sure the wound finished healing without issue. It took a bit of time to go through the paperwork afterwards, but at the end I walked out without paying a cent since my insurance covered everything. All told the visit took about 90 minutes from check-in to completion, much better than if I had gone to an ER I'm sure (plus I wouldn't have been able to leave and come back). I would definitely recommend this service if you have something minor that you need addressed. read more

Had a nasty ear infection that I needed to take care of before heading on vacation. Made an appointment online and popped in the following morning. Got in and out with antibiotics within half an hour! Affordable, quick, convenient. read more

After being turned away from HEB redi-clinic as they were full, I came to this location to see if they could fit me in. They were booked full as well (very busy flu season), but I asked if I could wait around for a no-show. The NP, Olga squeezed me in and saw me right away. She was very accommodating. I had a rapid flu test, an exam, and she prescribed me tamiflu - sent straight to my pharmacy. Very efficient and kind. In and out in 20 minutes. She didn't have to do that. Would go again for something simple. read more

I went to the CVS on Richmond & Montrose in Houston Today. The lady said, it was against her MORALITY to give me an anti-biotic for my sinus infection. She said to use a steriod inhaler that I had been using at home which was not working. Clearly the lady did not know what she was doing and I didn't go there for a MORALITY check. She was RUDE uninformed and not knowlegeable about her job. She needs not to shake her finger giving anyone a morality check. No wonder there was no line and the place was empty. I won't recommend that CVS clinic to no one period. read more

I went to the Take Care Clinic this morning at 9:10AM. I waited until 9:30 for the nurse to show up and open (half hour late). I had registered to receive a shingles vaccination. The nurse told me my insurance does not cover it for under age 60. I had confirmed previous to my visit and after my visit that there were no age restrictions on my policy with Cigna. She said that was all done by someone else. I asked her if she called Cigna. She said that she couldn't get through (B.S.). I called and got through immediately. It was obvious she just didn't want to mess with it because she was running late and was too lazy to do her job. Now I have wasted the better part of my morning and have no vaccination. What a lousy service. read more
