I know each visit can vary... well, Take 5 ROCKED my most recent visit. Wait time before entering bay, under 5 minutes! Then the usual "10 minute" oil change. Korey was amazing. He was so personable and professional. Don was in the pit and he did a great job as well. As for value, oil changes for trucks is pretty high everywhere. I've been coming here on and off for a few years now. They have been consistently good for me. I can't say that about other locations, but this one has been great. They are fast and efficient. Some things that set them apart : They do NOT push other services when I go in for oil or inspection. They take the TIME to explain their recommendations and importance of the work. They READ the file before working on my vehicle and know what the history is, and what I'm likely to purchase. The guys have always been very courteous. There's rarely a long wait, unless it's busy. I stopped by Take 5 for a state inspection. They promote fast service, however service was slow when I visited. They have 3 bays and it's really just luck of the draw in terms of speed. It of course depends on what types of services customers are getting too. It was busier than I anticipated for a Monday afternoon. Unbeknownst to me, I was able to stay in my car for the inspection which was awesome. The young lady that performed the inspection was very friendly. She asked me about recent service on the car and let me know that recent service like a new battery may cause the car to not pass the inspection. She stated that she didn't want to charge me for the service if it wasn't going to pass. I had recently had a new transmission placed, but luckily my car passed. While the test was being performed, she checked my insurance. About 10 minutes later, I paid and was on my way. Take 5 is convenient in that you can wait in your car, but the speed of service may not always be fast so take that into consideration. read more

Complete scam, I went in to get an inspection, I got everything they asked me to get fixed, at a cost of $2300! But when I went back within the 2-week-free period, they failed me again stating that sensors that were "ready" last time were not ready anymore. They had terrible customer service and couldn't explain to me why this happened, they just wanted me to come back when the timing was outside of my 2-week window so I could pay them again. I told them I don't mind paying the $25 right now if I can get a fair inspection and they just kept saying I need to drive 100 more miles. I had driven 300(!) miles since the last inspection btw. Updated to 3 stars -- 1 star for not putting the oil cap back on, and 4-5 stars for the manager acknowledging the issue and helping resolve. Fortunately, only about 2 quarts of 4.5 quarts was lost, so hopefully the engine will be fine long-term. 10/3/2025 WARNING: Do not go here if you need engine oil for your car to run!!! All I can say they did is take the oil cap off and charge a lot of money. I don't know if they drained the oil or put oil back in since they didn't put the cap on and the engine oil is dry.... I'm working on how to deal with it. Service is horrible why have 3 stalls open if you're only going to work 2. I hate when businesses act like your eyes don't work. I was waiting a whole hour before anyone even touched my car. It took me complaining to finally attended to. One worker said he was going to tell the manager. He told him something because whatever it was got a smirk out the manager. At the end of April, Take 5 changed my oil but forgot to install the gasket. It leaked out while I was at work and my check engine light came on and I stopped fortunately prior to my engine seizing. I called repeated and got no response and ultimately had to call a tow company to not damage the engine. Take 5 admitted that they had a workmanship issue. I have been waiting for almost two months for the tow reimbursement. Every time I call the call center I am told that the claim has been approved and I will be called in 24 to 48 hours this is my third time getting this response. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews but this easily could have been a wrecked engine and the response has been very disappointing and still has not been resolved. read more

They use REAL oil NOT olive oil. Keep in mind this is a car maintenance place and not an Italian restaurant. The name can be misleading, however, they do serve yummy snacks sometimes while you are waiting. The nice salesman worker helped me find a coupon so that was fire. I'm really glad he did because my credit card was less than $20 away from being maxed out and would have been declined if it wasn't for that coupon! The car hasn't broke down yet so the oil change was probably done correctly. Looks like they've increased their crew size which is helping to make the wait time less. They have three bays with about 3-4 Techs on each car. All your get technicians but polite and professional. The time from entering the bay to leaving the bay was about 10 minutes. Just have to make sure that they clean off any residual oil that was drained cause it could drop onto your driveway and leave stains. I got 5.5 wat of synthetic high mileage and it cost about $98. Kinda pricey but your paying for convenience. read more

On Friday March 1st I took my 2017 BMW X5 into the Pearland TX shop 686 location to have a routine oil change. The manager on duty upsold us on a coolant flush. As they were performing the service my car was running and it shut down. They attempted to jump the car about 10 times. Eventually I requested that they have my car towed to the BMW dealership so that my service advisor could take a look. They discovered that the shop had drained all the oil out of my vehicle and not replaced it causing my engine to lock up, in essence totaling my vehicle. My car's engine has to be replaced as a result of Take 5's negligence and it could take more than 2 weeks to be repaired. They had ONE JOB. Today is Thursday March the 7th and I have yet to hear back about my claim or a rental car from their fleet management company. My vehicle was in pristine working condition when I pulled into this shop and the staff destroyed it. The repairs to my vehicle will cost upwards of 25k!! This is a completely unacceptable response/ handling of this organizations negligence and destruction of a customer's property. read more

This place was super fast, and the techs were really nice. They were really transparent about what they were doing and didn't try to tack on anything extra. They can get pretty busy on the weekends, but if you go during the week, you can basically just drive up and get taken care of immediately. The 5 in Take 5 does mean basically 5 minute oil change, but their system on get ppl through their 3 bay shop was off when I went through. All bays were filled when i arrived and there was a vehicle waiting at 2 of the bays, so basically I was sixth in line. Which that didn't happen. Process was Bay 1,2,1,2, at which at this point I asked why no one was working on bay 3, in which they said they had a process. So it went Bay 1,2,1,2,3,1,2,1,2,3...so basically went from being 6th in line to 10th...STAY AWAY FROM BAY 3 (which is the far right one). read more

This might have been the longest oil change I've ever had but I firmly believe it was still five stars. How could a review that starts like that be 5 stars? Let me explain. Yes it took almost two hours but that's due to a few people not showing up and leaving them short handed at the busiest time of the day 4pm. In light of this they came out and communicated to those in line of the situation and that things might take a while for those of us 2-3 cars back in the line. They communicated promptly and set expectations appropriately because that's about what my experience was. Despite being overwhelmed and understaffed those few who were there working, taking the brunt of the burden of those unwilling or unable to make it to their shift, maintained a courteous and professional attitude and worked efficiently as possible to get cars through in a timely manner. Once in position for the service, it only took but 5-10 minutes at most! They got the service done, found me a discount on an air filter, topped off my coolant saving me a trip to autozone and sent me on my way. The men working hard the afternoon of June 28th deserve to be commended and rewarded for how they handled two bays with 5-6 in line at each. Went there on Friday 1/24/25 for just a simple oil change and nothing else. I left there thinking they had completed the oil change and I was good to go. Drove home and then the following week I see that I now had an oil leak. Come to find out the oil filter was not tight enough and I lost about a quart of oil. I should have known considering the guys working were joking around and screwing off with a complete lack of supervision. This location has gone down hill and ran by a bunch of immature teens. My car requires the removal of a skid plate to change the oil. The tech didn't seem happy when he was under my vehicle and he ended up saying that the prior place that serviced my vehicle stripped the screw and that he could not remove the skid plate to change my oil. I ended up going to my regular spot and they had no issue. I guess they didn't want to hassle with the skid plate. read more

Now if this was 2020 and gas was cheap and I lived across the street from the place it wouldn't be a problem but I live 20 minutes away and gas ain't cheap. If you gone stop taking cars at 5:45 put that on google so at least people know y'all close at 6 but stop taking cars at 5:45 I don't understand how you could turn a customer away during operating hours. These guys don't have the proper tool for use on Toyota/Lexus oil filter canister assemblies, so they end up stripping the plastic and overtightening the cap, causing $160 worth of damage. The cap and housing have color coded marks and protruding notches that should line up with each other when sufficiently tightened down but Take 5 over-tightened the cap so much that the cap marker was nearly an inch past where it should have been. Toyota recommends this cap should only be torqued no more than 18ftlbs but it took nearly 300ftlbs of torque to unscrew this cap. Did the Take 5 tech fall asleep while tightening this down with his power tool? This is more than just an innocent mistake, it's gross incompetence. read more

The drive-thru concept, especially in COVID times, allows you to drive Into the bay and remain in your car while it it being serviced. ENGINE EXPLODED AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AT THIS LOCATION!! I will never ever let a Take 5 touch my vehicles ever again. My oil change was extremely rushed - one employee filled the oil at the same time a second emplyee drained the oil pan - no problem, they're professionals, right? Well my car sat in my driveway for the next 2 days and everything seemed normal. On the morning of the 3rd day I drove it to work and my engine blew up in the middle of 45. The smoke was so thick that I couldn't even see in front of me. I just had to guess my way across multiple lanes of traffic and hope that I made it all the way into the shoulder - on one of the busiest highways in America. It was super dangerous and stupid stressful. Not to mention that my car is now a tens of thousands of dollar paperweight. I will NEVER trust Take 5 again and I will NEVER let friends/family take their vehicles here. read more
