They QUICKLY reached back out and quoted me over a $1000 for the job, while Elk Grove Chevy quoted me just over $700. I knew this job entailed dropping the pan and working around the exhaust. Something that is really easy to do once on a lift. All in all...a 1.5 hour job, and that's a BIG stretch. I shared this dealer quote with them, and it was basically shared with me that I should go there (not in a rude way). Well, obviously I did. The moral of the story for me and for others should be, DON'T assume ind. auto mechanics will be cheaper than the dealership. I ALWAYS want to support local business, but I will not support local businesses when they can't do a job at a fair price, and I feel like the trend with specialized labor has been leaning way towards a place it never used to be.

The service techs don't do that here. You let them know what you need, you pull into the garage and sit in your car as the magic takes place. They will top off fluids, if needed put air in your tires and let you know if anything else may need to be handled in the future. They are not pushy. Oh, and they are quick! Not NASCAR quick but I'm talking quick. They are amazing techs who get the job done, who take pride in their work. I've been there 4 times and each experience has been positive. Give them a try! I paid nearly $800 for brake work in March, and the brakes continued squeaking afterward. I brought the car back in August, allowed them to clean, lubricate, and "de-squeak" the brakes, and the noise returned almost immediately. I also have multiple dated videos documenting the problem. When I returned again, Chris was dismissive and argumentative when I asked what would happen if they could not reproduce an intermittent noise during the visit. I repeatedly asked how many times I might have to keep bringing the car back before another warranty remedy was considered. His response was essentially that they have to reproduce and isolate the noise to know what to fix. He never gave me a clear answer about what happens if the noise cannot be reproduced on demand. I also asked Chris for contact information for someone above him in case the issue remained unresolved, and he did not provide it. I later called the store and Desire immediately gave me the information and was very kind and empathetic. Zach was also professional, helpful, and understanding throughout the process. The communication later that day was also poor. Chris called me around 2:39 p.m. only to say that my car was next in the queue to be looked at. I received no further update about what they found, what they decided to repair, or when my car would be ready. As closing time approached, I had to call the store myself just to find out what was happening. That was when I learned from Zach that the front brake pads were being replaced. At pickup, Chris explained that they had not been able to reproduce the noise, but he decided to replace the front pads based partly on the video I showed him. This was confusing because earlier that same morning he had told me he could not determine where the noise was coming from based on the video and that they would have to reproduce it to isolate the problem. I also addressed the lack of communication, and Chris said I should have received a call from other employees, even though I had been told that the decisions regarding my vehicle were going through him. My complaint is specifically about Chris and how he handled the situation, not the entire staff. Desire and Zach were both kind, professional, and helpful. I understand that a shop needs to diagnose a mechanical problem before deciding what to replace. What I do not accept is poor communication, unanswered questions, and being left without a clear explanation of what happens if an intermittent warranty problem continues. A General Manager should be able to clearly explain the process, communicate repair decisions, provide escalation information when requested, and treat a customer respectfully.

AAA had no problem holding the car over the weekend so I could arrange another tow to the dealership on Monday. There's no doubt their written assessment of the car's engine seizure and printout of the warranty extension, which I presented to the dealership, helped make my successful case for a warranty repair. October 30 : Pricing Discrepancy At approximately 8:31 AM, I received the diagnostic report. Jerry contacted me and informed me that my vehicle needed a radiator replacement. When I asked about the cost, he quoted approximately $1,200 for the radiator replacement, including parts, labor, and taxes. With the $210 diagnostic fee included, the expected total would be approximately $1,410. I called Jerry back at approximately 2:47 PM to confirm the pricing and discuss proceeding with the repair. All of a sudden, Jerry changed the radiator replacement price from approximately $1,200 to $1,400. With the diagnostic fee included, the expected total should have been approximately $1,610. However, he proceeded to quote me a final total of $1,724. When I questioned the discrepancy, Jerry insisted, "That was what I told you before." I strongly disagree. I specifically remember him quoting approximately $1,200 for the radiator replacement alone, including parts, labor, and taxes. My father and I decided to seek a second opinion from another AAA repair facility at 8106 Orchard Loop Lane. They quoted us $1,155 for the radiator replacement, including parts, labor, and taxes. This was considerably more competitive than Jerry's revised quote. I understand that storage fees may apply under certain circumstances, but I believe this particular day should be treated differently. I do not believe I should have been financially penalized for questioning a price change October 31 : Saturday I was occupied throughout the day, so there was no communication with the repair facility. I acknowledge that this was a day the vehicle remained on their property. November 1 : Sunday The repair facility was closed on Sunday. I dispute being charged storage fees for this day. November 2 : Confrontation Over Pricing and Storage Fees My father and I returned to the facility to speak with Jerry about the price discrepancy. I explained everything that had happened, but Jerry denied my account and remained adamant that the original quote was $1,724. We were then confronted with $410 in accumulated storage fees. I strongly disputed this amount. I felt that only one $150 storage charge should have applied at that point. Jerry had never mentioned a $150 daily storage fee during our initial conversations, to my recollection. I only became aware of this charge when we returned to the facility. I also contacted the other AAA repair facility I mentioned earlier, and they informed me that their storage fee was $25 per day. My father and I ultimately decided to have the vehicle towed to the other repair facility. However, Jerry informed us that the vehicle first needed to be put back together before it could be released for towing. He said this would be completed the following day. November 3 : Interaction With Management My father and I returned at approximately 9:30 AM to speak with the manager. I even requested that management review any available phone records or recorded conversations to clarify what had originally been discussed. I was told they did not do that. I cannot verify whether any recordings existed, but I was disappointed that management made no apparent effort to investigate the disagreement. What made the situation even worse was the manager's behavior. He visibly became upset, raised his voice, and THREATENED to have my vehicle towed to an impound. From what I recall, his exact words were along the lines of: "I'll call up a tow right now and have it sent to an impound. Try me." At one point, the manager brought up how Jerry was supposedly one of their best service advisors. I responded by mentioning the negative reviews I had seen on Yelp. The manager then dismissed Yelp reviewers by saying: "Yelp's filled with a bunch of crybabies." I ultimately paid the $410 in storage fees and the $210 diagnostic charge, totaling $620, and had my vehicle towed to the other AAA repair facility. Final Thoughts : I cannot recommend this repair shop based on my experience. If you're considering bringing your vehicle here, I strongly recommend getting a written estimate, clarifying all potential storage fees in advance, and documenting every conversation. As long as Jerry Vazquez and this management team continue handling customers this way, I would personally take my business elsewhere.
