I went to the Take 5 on Folly Road in Charleston, SC to get an Oil Change. They claim to check tires, Clean your windshield, coolant, etc. They didn't check tires or clean my windshield but I was so ready to leave I didn't "Remind them." After they checked my coolant, I was told that it was empty. They claimed to have "A special going on" for $100. My bill was over $200 because they charged more than $100 to flush the old empty coolant. When I asked about the bill, the lady "In Charge" was extremely rude and defensive. The experience was 30-40 minutes of Rip-off. The One Star I gave in the review was too high. read more

My husband and I take our vehicles here regularly and this place is super efficient and the staff members are very courteous. Today I was out running errands and my low tire pressure light came on. Luckily I was near our Take 5 Oil Change shop and I got in line for help. A very nice woman came out to my car and asked how she could help. When I told her the issue, she had me pull the car into an open spot in the garage and she quickly filled up my tire. I was on my way in less than five minutes! This Take 5 location is very inconsistent with their quality of service. Several times I have been and they did not bother to show me the oil stick or tell me any other information. I sat for a while before they ever asked me what my mileage is. I don't know what other places prices are or should be but I just paid over $90 with a coupon. The staff is often rude or short and it is always different. I guess there are more employees with different schedules. A lot of times I do not get a replacement sticker which I like to have. Sometimes I feel like they didn't actually do anything. I'm usually not that happy with my time spent at least at the Folly Road location. read more

Take 5 is usually my go-to for an oil change because of the convenience. I'm fine even if the oil change takes a while because I can just wait in my car. I came here on a Monday and the usual service seemed off. The workers were friendly when talking with me but it seemed like they were fumbling around a bit. I checked under the hood after I left and they did not secure my air filter after taking it out. They also spilled oil down my engine cover onto parts below which I had to clean up. The price also increased from my last visit to above $100 for most oil change tiers. I will likely just go to the West Ashley location or a dealership from now on. read more

I took my car in for a oil change and they got grease all over the hood and then when I asked him to cleaned it, they just smeared it everywhere and told me I should not get my car washed before I come get it oil change next time. Disappointing. Normally I don't go to this location but stopped by for an oil change. Arrived and both techs were smoking inside the building. They were prompt to put them out but that smell lingers and appears unprofessional. I disagreed with their tire pressure recommendation and stated what I wanted them set to. They didn't so I had to adjust once I got home. Which then led me to double check a few things, overall a fine job but they didn't clean up after themselves with some oil splashed on the engine cover/engine bay. Also didn't wipe the plug after so there would've been a stain had I not caught it. read more

I just returned from having a simple oil change there. I am disgusted with the way I was charged. I called in advance and was told that a synthetic blend oil change for my Honda CR-V would be $49.95, but that I could use a $10. off coupon. When in the middle of the oil change they told me it would be $94.95 before the coupon! Yikes!!!! When I protested they said my earlier call went to a national call center that didn't know the grade of oil at that garage. I call BS on that lame explanation. They used 4.5 quarts of Castrol Edge 0w20. 5 quarts of that oil costs $22.00 retail and they buy it in bulk. Under new management!! If you had a negative experience here before (I did a handful of times), they have tightened up ship and the new management is wonderful! They move quickly, efficiently and are polite. It might not take 5 minutes, but I think I was in and out in under 15. It's so hard to find fast or reliable car anything in Charleston, and it's refreshing to know there is a business that has a good work ethic and delivers a quality service. I'm always satisfied with the service at Take 5. They promptly greet me as soon as I pull up and have a bottle of water in hand for me. It does take longer than 5 minutes but they are still speedy about the job and are announcing what is being checked off in the process. They top off all fluids, check tire pressure and check the seals and caps of other various things. They will also top of your oil for free and check your tire pressure in between visits. This is all super convenient for me since I don't have a garage to be able to store these things and keep up with it. Even when people have been ahead of me I've never had to wait more then 30 min. I've been to other places that take forever, so I always come back to Take 5! read more

Stopped in for an oil change on a new to me vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was no wait. I must've had good timing because after pulling into the Bay several cars pulled up behind me. The staff is very friendly. They have been very informative and I feel very honest about the condition of the filters and what services that are required. I am temporarily out of work due to a hand injury so I appreciate it that there is many options within my budget. I loved that they handed me a cold bottle water since it's such a hot summer day here in Charleston! I also saw that if you leave a review you get a dollar off your service today although I was already planning on leaving one anyway. I was gonna wait till I got home but hey for a dollar off I'll do it while I'm waiting. It's not like I have anything else going on, LOL! Also found a variety of coupons online when I was googling the address. I found one for seven dollars off the service today. They can not do more than one coupon but that's ok. This was my first time at the location and by far the best experience I've had at take 5! It was not super busy when I went and everyone was very helpful and attentive! Avoid! - Companies that provide incompetence, permanent damage to your car, and refusing to stand behind their work? welcome to the trifecta of disappointment. They stripped the drain bolt on my oil pan, the Honda dealer diagnosed the problem clearly showing me the last oil change place damaged my car- and sent me back to them- I still had their oil change sticker on the car. I remember them struggling for 30 minutes the last oil change and they never said anything. I was put in the phone with a district manager who accused me of lying despite not being on the property, offered no alternative solution or resolution. He could have suggested easy fixes or even a I'm sorry for the inconvenience but he was only worried about covering his butt. After awhile he said I can't help you leave the property. Very Bizarre style of customer service. I didn't raise my voice once just walked through the problem a couple times- he just doesn't know how to talk to people. Pretty short sighted company position considering I have 2 cars and change my oil 3 times a year each. Another oil change company about .5 miles from them fixed the issue in one hour, charged very fair price, and warned me that they get in cars butchered by Take 5 all the time. Staff not required to wear masks and staff member rude when asked why and said "Do you wear a mask when you get a car wash?" One, that doesn't even make sense. If you value your vehicle, please do not bring your vehicle here. Tech forgot to secure splash guard on bottom of vehicle, splash guard fell off on the highway. Before returning to have them fix, I noticed oil was leaking from the drain plug. Tech did not adequately torque the oil drain plug. After having a different tech at Take 5 mitigate this issue, another "secured" the splash guard on the bottom of the vehicle. This tech missed 3 screws and again left the splash guard hanging on by 2 screws. Would never come here again. read more

Once we got into the stall we waited about 10 minutes and my husband asked how much longer, the guys were just standing there with hands in their pockets. I have been going here regularly for two years. I just had to pay $2,000 for a transmission rebuild because my transmission fluid was empty...after I went here for a check and oil change. Do not depend on them to actually check your "vital" fluids as the advertise. I did and they had not been checking and replacing my transmission fluid. Went here and set a stopwatch to see how quick it really was. Left at 30 minutes, and it was only that long because a car was already in the bay when i got there! Everyone was super friendly, and they even put air in my tires and put a missing splashguard bolt in that I brought. Went to Speedy Oil change and was left with a huge oil leak. I took it to Take 5 and they knew immediately based on the make and model (Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 2014) that the oil filter was probably loose because of how hard it is to get to. They changed my oil. But the leak was still there. So a few weeks later I took it back and they totally honored their guarantee and gave me another one. I'm writing this before I know if the leak is still there but I like the service I got so much I will continue to go there. read more
