He pointed out that my cooling system was in really bad shape and explained why it was important instead of just trying to sell me something. I really appreciated that. What stood out the most was that I never felt pressured. He gave me a fair price, answered all of my questions, and even let me know I could stop back by anytime to have my oil checked and topped off between services. That level of customer service goes a long way. The whole visit only took about 15-20 minutes, everyone was kind and professional, and I left feeling like they genuinely cared more about helping me than making an extra buck. Needed an emissions test for registration renewal. I decided to stop by Take 5. I had never used them before for anything. They were busy, but I will say they moved quickly. The staff were friendly for the most part. One guy looked a little sleepy. We laughed for a few minutes and talked about cars. They answered my questions and concerns. The emissions testing was easy, quick and simple. The price is already set so it's decent. It's required by Texas so you really don't have a choice. Like if you agree to put the premium oil ("good for the next 10,000 miles"), the windshield sticker will still reflect the lower mileage oil. They also provided me with a receipt of a different person and car, along with their personal info on it. I come here for my oil change every 5000 miles. (Only because I use synthetic oil in my vehicle). For a fair price, which includes my military discount, I had them use Mobil One synthetic. It's the best oil and my car runs better because of it. For my vehicle, I find this to be a great deal. They do forget to do a few things that should be included with an oil change ie. check the air in the tires etc. but if you remind them, they will do it without hesitation! Finding anyone willing to work in these hot conditions, and put up with customers crap is amazing! There was a Karen in a car behind me and boy oh boy was she trouble. She finally left. But not before she rear--ended another car in a rush to leave. Served her right! Trusting, a mechanic, with your car, is no different than going to a doctor. You have to search till you find a good one. You hope they change the oil and that they replace the plug. Not rocket science, however, for your vehicle to run correctly you want it done properly. I feel like I got robbed with the oil change. $149 for synthetic oil change???? I asked the guy why so much. He said because it was with Mobile 1 oil. This was after they had done the oil change. He tried to sell me an air filter which I thought still had some like in it. He then put a reminder sticker for the next oil change on my window which was smeared because he wrote it with a thick marker. I then asked him for a sticker that I could actually read. Another guy stepped in and printed one for me. Except this one was for 3000 miles. I went back again and asked him to do it right and put it for 5000 miles like it's supposed to be. I've been getting synthetic oil changes for years. They are always in the $75-$100 price range. I was truly surprised! Never going back there again!!! read more

Took my car for the first time since having the car to get an oil change from here next day later my check engine light came on. I had the car for 3 months and never had a problem with it. I checked for any codes after I bought nothing came up until I got the oil change. there was also oil all over the engine. And I also called to get a price and the lady said it would be $80 for full synthetic and that the out of the door price I guess she didn't know what she was talking about, because when I got there, I wind up spending $120. the code was a EVAP system leak I don't know what they did when they was underneath the car but I would definitely not go back here. read more

This establishment must have changed hands. Last year I got my inspection here. I was treated with a smile and a bottle of water. This time I was not greeted with a smile and no bottle of water. I was also agrivated with the pressure of buying all the add ons. An air filter and a flush of my anti freeze. It would have been an additional 200.00 for everything they said I needed. After paying 101.00 for an oil change. When asking if the had a senior discount. He said he would take $10.00 off. When I got the bill it was still $101.00. I asked where was the $10.00 discount the little weasel under the car mouth off it was for the taxes and said it sarcastically a second time it's for the taxes. I think it was Matt!! But Luke also helped him. So not sure. Just know I will not be back and do not recommend this place. Too much pressure to upsell!! read more

I came this shop to change the oil only, but they told me to change the coolant too, they used a pump to clean the coolant tank for $110, after changing it, the coolant leaked under the front of the car, and they damaged the coolant tank and refused to compensate and refund the $110 I paid, this shop is inexperienced and not responsible for damaging the customer's car, this shop has no reputation read more

He could've easily done an oil change and charged me and I would never have been the wiser. But he did the right thing. There are good people in this world and Jackson is one of them! I asked for an estimated wait time and he was excuse my French an asshole. he said I can't give you a time because our inspection stuff has been working on and off. I asked again and nothing. he literally was then finished with the other car he was working on within 2 minutes. i asked if he didn't know he was that close to being done and he said "well if I hadn't spent 5,6,7 minutes talking to you I would have been done sooner" I have NEVER EVER had worse service or been treated so horribly in my life. On 6/16/24 I took our 2019 Dodge Journey to the Take 5 on Greenville Ave in Allen, TX for an oil change. The young man that waited on us recommended replacing the coolant as well. As it is our college aged daughter's car and she drives regularly from Stephenville to Allen (134 miles each way), we said sure (BIG MISTAKE!!!!). In just the time it took to drive from Allen to McKinney and back (no more than 14 miles), the car was overheating and all of the coolant had leaked out. This is a 5 year old car with only 60K miles on it and had NEVER overheated before. The car died fairly close to the shop so I went back over and let them know. The same young man that did the service came back and refilled the coolant as it was now completely empty. We started the car and got it back across the street to the shop where we meet the manager, Kelly. She explained that they would tow it to a shop and put in an insurance claim. It was obvious that they were at fault and I even have texts from Kelly saying that she "agrees 100%" that this should be a cut and dried approval. We were never given an option to take it to the shop of our choice- Take 5 chose to send to 5th Gear in McKinney. Fleet Response claim was 1427071. Days and weeks passed and getting ahold of anyone at Fleet Response was next to impossible (no wonder their customer rating is 1 star!!!). Finally there was an approval for work and I spoke to Aven at Fleet Response who said that first step would be replacing the radiator cap and hose. The conversation with Aven made it seem like this was step 1 and they would approve further work if needed. That work was completed by 5th Gear and we finally got the car back after about a couple of weeks- we also were never offered a rental. This whole process has been beyond inconvenient and the communication on all sides has been subpar. Within 2 weeks and 200 miles of driving the car was overheating again so it was towed back to 5th gear on 7/16/24. They had it for a couple of weeks before diagnosing that the head gasket was damaged during the overheating but that was not caught initially. Again- this car had NEVER overheated prior to the Take 5 debacle. I was very patient as I know that accidents happen but I just want my car fixed. Fleet Response has now denied the claim of fixing head gasket, Kelly at Take 5 says that her hands are tied and I should just reach out to corporate and 5th Gear says that I will need to pay them $2500 to fix this issue that WAS CAUSED BY TAKE 5 in the first place but was not caught by 5th Gear (WHO WE DID NOT CHOOSE TO GO TO). What can you do to rectify this situation???? Do I need to get a lawyer involved? read more

Damaged my car. This place is ran by idiots. I went on a Saturday, there are like 5-6 young, obviously untrained and not really engaged with doing a good job boys/men. They make it a point to greet you as fast as possible, then they make you wait for 20-30 in line. When you finally get to oil change, there are like 3-4 of them bouncing around aimlessly between 3 cars, rummaging through random tools, drinking water, arguing. I wasn't really sure who was doing what. They got like maybe 1-2 maybe slightly more senior guys running the computer but they don't give much about what's going on either. I felt like I was at recess with a bunch of kids. When I left, I started driving down the road and my skid plate that covered the underneath part of my car wasn't attached again and the entire thing ripped off on I75. Now I need to replace that and check if there is damage to the car. This place is a liability for whomever owns it, obviously they don't care. This place is the worst of the worst. read more
