The Hounslow West tube station is 2 stops from Heathrow, so we found a basic hotel for the night, The Skylark -- simple, no frills, but staffed by friendly folks, who, when they heard our intentions to train into town for an Indian meal, insisted we walk down one block and try Takaa Tak, and assured us we would not be disappointed.
And now we pass along those assurances to you, good Yelper, as it was terrific. Just try and get there on the early side. We just left the place at 10 and the wait was 40+ minutes.
Delicious delicious & more delicious ... that's all there is to it -- except the prices are (compared to LA, NY or SF, et al) ridiculously affordable -- which helps explain why the place was filled with families (and the concomitant cacophony), making the scene a bit nuts on a Saturday night.
Veggie momo, palak paneer, 1/2 tandoori chicken, a liter of Kingfisher beer -- all memorably spiced and seasoned with a complexity that beguiled and satisfied the full complement of flavor needs -- and topping off at less than £24 for everything -- yeow!
We are now back at The Skylark, stuffed and happy, repacking for tomorrow's flight and trying to make sense of the cable tv.
Next time we're coming through, great to know we have a dependably wonderful feed stop to fuel a layover.
