Formally Legacy of India North Adelaide, I'm not sure how long this place has been operating as the Taj Mahal but I do now know that the food is delicious and the serving sizes...epic. First up, from the street, this place may not look grand or deserving of its name and the decor too leaves a little underwhelming however the delicious food and friendly, helpful staff certainly make up for that.
We ordered a mixed platter to share for entree which featured four 'bite sized' Indian treats. The delicious samosa was huge and probably the best samosa that I have ever had and the other pieces did not disappoint.
For mains we selected a mango chicken and a Lamb Madras as well as ordering rice and naan bread. Maybe we were a little over excited and hungry but there really was PLENTY of food for two. The curry was decent sized with a very good meat to sauce ratio. The mango was I think, the best I have ever had- the perfect balance of mango flavour without being stupidly sweet or bland. The madras was also delicious with yummy mustard seeds throughout. The waitress also kindly suggested wines to accompany our choices and was very helpful with descriptions of the meal- all the staff deserve to be commended!
The Naan bread also deserves a mention- not too greasy which is often the case for these tasty little treats! I was pretty keen on dessert but my full belly was not- so I'll have to head back sometime for that- sometime very soon! read more
