The other Indian restaurants in my area have gone downhill (eg. using frozen mixed vegetables in their veg curries/biryanis), so I decided to try somewhere a bit further away. I read some positive online reviews of Royal Haandi, decided to give them a go, and was glad I did!
The Royal Goat Curry was tender and flavourful, with a thick velvety sauce. The Kashmiri Pulao rice was delicious, including the surprise bits of pineapple (that weren't mentioned in the online menu description!). But I was really impressed that the Misayako Tarkari was mainly fresh vegetables (except for the peas); and the cauli/green beans/etc. were cooked perfectly, still a little bit chewy instead of being overcooked into mush.
They also ask how hot you want each main meal; I went with 'Medium' for both the goat and veg curries. I'm mid-range when it comes to chilli tolerance, but found 'Medium' wasn't very hot; so their 'Mild' would probably be perfect for people who can't tolerate hot food. Lastly, the food wasn't heaps oily, like at a lot of other Indian joints; at the end of the meal, there wasn't much oily residue left on my plate, which was great! read more
