Came here for a vegetarian lunch option. Which I wasn't eating pescatarian today because on the door there was a $9.99 lunch special for chicken LOL. Nevertheless, wasn't sure what to order out of the vegetarian options and the very nice server recommended the tikka masala. There was good taste and this is probably the nearest Indian restaurant within a 15 minute radius. I did pay $15 plus tax and tip so was on the pricier side. I think that this is a great option though if you are interested in Indian food!!! read more

Food was decent. Their biggest downfall was the price does not fit the amount of food you get. Paid $20 for lamb curry and it came in a small bowl with about 5 pieces of lamb. Not big chunks, but small chunks. That itself was such a big disappointment. Goat biriyani had good flavor, but it wasn't true biriyani. It was more of rice stirred in with the the gravy. Real biriyani is suppose to be cooked together. It came with raita, but we didn't get it until I asked for it. The naan was delicious. Also ordered pani puri which was good, but the pani was not pani. It was more of a thick paste and I had to add water to it to make it not too strong. Service was okay. They need to add more quantity to their dishes if they want to charge people $20 for a dish. read more

So I've been waiting to go to this restaurant for over 2 years and we finally went. The restaurant was peaceful and inviting, staff was friendly and knowledgeable, pretty much what everyone looks for. They have a good variety of Indian Beers and all types of wine and mixed drinks. I had a beer and my wife had a mojito, Himalayan snowman was good, no go on the mojito. We started with the samosas and veg pakora, both were right on with a good chutney. For our mains ( yes I always go a little overboard) butter chicken, chicken mango something and goat vindaloo. FANTASTIC!!! I'd order again but maybe not the butter chicken. Food was delicious! We had the traditional curry with lamb, chicken biryani, and the mixed tandoori, and garlic naan. Spice level 4 was perfect only complaint was the portion of the traditional curry and that was probably more because it was so good I wanted more! Also got a mango lassi and mango mousse which were perfect match for easing the slow burn of the spice. Service was great! very warm, friendly and attentive! The ambiance seems somewhat cramped and dark, would love a larger table although I'd probably just order more food! I'd recommend this place and will be returning soon read more

Well - we stumbled upon this diamond on our way back from Seattle. We honestly picked it because it had high yelp ratings and the Yelp community did not disappoint! Some of the best Indian food I've ever had. In every dish they added a little extra spice and herbs to set their dishes apart. We also got yogurt and mint sauces and they were fabulous! Oh, also, the prices were amazing! My daughter and I shared this meal and we even took some home! The servers were kind and thoughtful. And the atmosphere was cozy. I would have given negative star. The Naan was store bought and partially heated and inside was raw. The Rogan Josh didn't have Rogan, tasted like tomato sauce. The other thing worse than the food are the people, who are thugs, they charged us gratuity when the menu didn't mention anything about it. Indian food is my favorite and it was so delicious. Had their Butter Chicken and some curry (forgot which one) but it was really good. Wasn't expecting much being that it was in a out of the way place, but I was so glad I stopped by. The taste here was better than the several fancier downtown Seattle Indian restaurants. Kept saying that out of the handful of Indian restaurants we tried, this was the best out of all of them and became the standard which we compared the other food. Service was typical in a good way, nice, and pleasant. The restaurant was being renovated when we went in (winter 2023) and didn't expect much, but didn't matter because the food was that good. Ate it all in the parking lot. When I am in the area for a visit, this will definitely be a stop. read more

Really, really delicious food- went for a birthday lunch with the family and had a variety of dishes - butter chicken, beef vindaloo, tikki masala, garlic naan, aloo gobi, pakoras, and samosas - sauces on the tikki masala and butter chicken were velvety smooth and creamy deliciousness. I'm originally from Vancouver, BC, where the Indian food is plentiful and you don't have to splurge to get a 5-star meal. I'm also Punjabi, so I can flex my "I know good Indian food" card pretty hard. I didn't have high hopes for Taj Grill because I've often found ethnic food in smaller cities/towns pretty pared down in terms of flavour/authenticity. I only caved into trying it this time around because the hubs was really craving it. Long story short, I have to agree with the Yelpers who have complained about the lack of flavour in their curries. We ordered the butter chicken, mutter paneer, lamb chilli masala, raita and garlic naan. All the dishes were ordered with a 3/5 star scale for spice. The butter chicken and mutter paneer both tasted incredibly mild - I couldn't taste the heat nor spices typically found in these dishes. I especially found the butter chicken to be void of its signature tomato base despite being the right colour. All I could really taste was the cream and butter. There was plenty of chicken, peas and paneer in both dishes, respectively, and it's not like they tasted bad or anything. Both dishes were just way too mild overall for my liking. The lamb chilli masala was much more flavourful than the first two and I actually found the spice was in line for what I'd expect from a 3/5 star. The lamb pieces were a little more tough/chewy than I'm used to but otherwise the dish wasn't bad. I have to say the garlic naan was the best part of the meal for me. Perfectly cooked and topped with the right amounts of garlic, butter and cilantro. The raita was also well seasoned, nothing out of the ordinary. I don't see myself coming back here but I can see why folks with milder palettes would like it so if that's you, it's definitely worth the try. For me, personally, it's a crime to pay $85 for Indian food for 2 people and be left feeling unsatisfied. read more

Super yummy spot! This is our go-to take-out for Indian food. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. They have a large parking area, and the ambiance is welcoming. I took one star away because the portions are really bad, the rice-to-curry ratio sucks. I always have to order extra rice because I have tons of curry left over if I just get the normal portion, even with the naan its not enough. Anyways we love eating here! read more

Butter chicken is always on point. Very creamy and lots of sauce. To be honest when I order "extra chicken" I do not feel like there is enough "extra" to warrant the extra 4$+ but could just be my perception. They are very generous with their rice and the garlic naan bread is outstanding. The older lady who usually runs the front is always very polite. Talk about FLAVOR! My first Indian cuisine restaurant experience and wow it was mindblowing! The sauces are so aromatic and powerful. I have tried dishes here and there but never as a whole. Their masala is heavenly. I dipped everything into it and spooned the rest. I went with paneer (cheese) as the protein, as it was one thing I have tried and loved. The samosa was new to me but would have poured the cilantro sauce on everything if I would have had more, it was amazing. The garlic naan was so fresh, soft and crispy. The basmati rice was perfect texture and light and fluffy. Everything we ordered was quality and we would order again. The restaurant decor and music/music videos playing could definitely use an update. It would have been a more pleasant experience if light music playing in the background and not videos of singers with guns, killing people, and beating women on the screen. I felt like 80's dinner and a movie, it wasn't offensive it was just tacky music videos. It didn't ruin our visit, but we did come on a special date and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Would be nice to have less unwanted entertainment and more focus on the food, which was the star. The staff was professional and very attentive, great smiles and helpful on the menu. We almost didn't stop because of the location, but GO INSIDE! At least for the first time, because their food presentation is wonderful and fresh is super important for the naan and masala. Then order to go! 7pm the restaurant was completely empty, she said usually they are full. It is very close to a truck stop off hwy 530 and freeway motel, but is safe! Ordered take out on this rainy Sunday, I've had my eye on this place for awhile now and to be completely honest - I had my doubts about it. But I just loved how you can smell the delicious homemade naan as your getting off the exit and I needed to try it! Ordered through the GrubHub app - it was super simple - tandoori chicken tikka, butter chicken, tikka masala and garlic naan for two people (sounds like a lot but I wanted to try a little of everything ). Plenty of delicious food for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow! Food was so flavorful and just the right spices. This is the first Indian food I've had stateside. We kept hearing rave reviews about the authenticity of it as in it is not "watered down" to please The American palette. For the most part it isn't watered down but it was different than Indian food in say Malaysia or Singapore. Both places I had my first foray into Indian food. That could be the source of the ingredients though. Taj is good and it's great to have that option so close to home. Prices are reasonable and the food is good. The owners are very nice and helpful. I ordered some take-out from here yesterday... & today I am DANCING OVER MY LEFTOVERS!! I am a first time customer, & I am just over the moon with happiness. I called in & was greeted very kindly. I ordered Channa Saag (spinach chickpeas). After some time, I realized that's I had placed my order incorrectly (I am vegan), & I called back to see if they could change it. I didn't even express to them my food preferences, they just graciously took care of it & when I came in to pick up, the person working was so friendly! She asked if I was vegan, & I told her yes. So now, the important part, HOW IT TASTED! My entree was(is... finishing as we speak) incredible. All I might have to express is, I ordered a level 2 spice, & I felt it tasted more like a 1... HOWEVER, the dish is made with [coconut] milk, which could have offset the spiciness. The menu is STACKED with delicious options!! WORST INDIAN FOOD I'VE EVER HAD!!! I went here today because I saw all the good reviews. I love Indian food. Eaten it hundreds of times around the world, including in Chennai India. So, either the reviews are fake accounts, they are lying, they have no idea what Indian food should taste like, or some random possibility that the planets aligned perfectly and I somehow got the worst food and service as a fluke of the galaxy. FOOD: Ordered the butter chicken as the main and it was literally gross. It actually tasted like pure butter, like that liquid butter you get on your movie theater popcorn, but sickly sweet and not at all appealing. No spice, like Indian flavor spice at all. No creamy tomato flavor, or any salt, or any acid. Literally no flavor except pure liquid butter. I've actually never tasted butter chicken that literally tasted like butter. Portion was ok, chicken was ok, with the exception of tasting like pure butter. Was served with a side of rice, that was overcooked and tasted like nothing. Ironically I preferred zero tasting rice then the stomach curdling butter chicken. Ordered samosas as an app, and they were ok. Honestly seemed like it was microwaved to reheat. Chutney was also ok. The Safeway grocery samosas are better and cheaper. A bit of a let down starting the meal. Ordered a cup of coffee, and it was instant powder coffee heated in a microwave. Thin and no flavor. I even asked what kind it was, and they said black coffee...lol. Best coffee I've ever had was in Chennai India, so the Indians know coffee. I didn't even drink 25% of the cup, was gross. SERVICE: Wasn't greeted by the only staff member. Seated us and gave us menus and walked away. Was gone or floating around for about 15 minutes doing nothing. No other customers either, we were only ones. Didn't offer drinks, or apps, or anything, until she came back to take our entire order. Again, only customers. She gave me the vibe I was somehow inconveniencing her by coming and being a customer. I'm not huge on the necessity of service, but at least try or pretend to be a little cordial. Don't outright make me feel unwelcome. When pointing out the terrible butter chicken, in a totally polite way by the way, was told that's how it tasted and I was thinking of Tikki Masala. I'm not an idiot, I know what butter chicken tastes like, even from the various regions of India, but it never tasted close to this. The point is, never offered to try to sort anything out or offer any type of replacement. Just told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I don't even care if it's butter chicken, or what you want to call it, it was gross and barely edible. Even took some to go to give to my elder kids who like Indian food, and they both spat it out. My daughter said "you paid money for that?" Again, had this feeling like I was an inconvenience and ultimately they didn't care. They knew they would get another sucker like me coming through there next and they don't have to care about any customer satisfaction, loyalty, or returning customers. THEY JUST DO NOT CARE! PRICE: Way overpriced for portion and quality of food. Read the other reviews, it's a common trend of the overpriced for what you get. AMBIENCE: Nothing to be impressed or excited about. No real ambience or cultural feel to it. Tables and settings were nice, but that was it. Parts of the restaurant were dirty. CONCLUSION: I could keep going about how bad this food is. I think this is the first bad review I've ever written, and I'm 40, and generally like to write positive reviews of my dining experiences. We were visiting Seattle and happened to stop here for a quick snack. it was 420 pm and the restaurant was closed. It opened at 430 pm. we ordered two samosa plates (4 samosas) and two pakora plates (we got a total of 10 pakoras) and 6 cups of teas. We ended up paying more than $65 for this food. The tea and pakoras were cold. The staff was rude. The bill was not detailed and we ended up paying them for an extra tea and a gratuity of 16 dollars.
