Erin D'Angelo The Salon is a premiere, upscale salon experience in the city of Detroit. You expect…read morethe suburbs to have the best if the best, state of the art salon, but you get that at this salon on W. McNichols. Granted, the outside leaves much to be desired. The salon is next to an abandoned bldg with a for hanging off of it with debris on the side walk. On the other side is a barber shop that shares the front parking area, so depending on the time of day, you may have to park on the side street or behind the salon. There is a bus stop right out front that takes up a good 2 parks that of course, you can't park at. once you step inside, though, you are entering a relaxing, pampering oasis. The interior is that of a loft, with the open ceiling look. The floor is half dark hardwood and half linoleum tile. The colors are neutral - brown, tan, black chairs, lovely artwork, a wonderful, leather bound bench to sit on while you're under the wall suspended dryer. There is smooth jazz piped throughout, courtesy of xm radio. You are also welcome to Keurig coffee and bottled water. As with most salons, don't expect to be in and out in the blink of an eye. That's my only gripe. But again, what salon has you in and out and still provides thorough service with quality results? I feel like a million bucks when I leave here. That's worth the time it takes.

The back of my hair right at the base of the neck was an inch and a half long the entire back of the head was layered so short, I could not get it into a ponytail. The right side is longer than the left side. The layers are all very different. I had panic attacks every time I touched it or looked in a mirror and washed it as it made me so sick to my stomach that someone could do such a terrible job cutting hair and calling oneself a professional. No professional would do a this bad. I called and complained spoke to an employee who said the owner was not in and she would pass the message along. The owner when I finally did get in touch with him did not care one bit of how bad of a job my hair turned out. And the worst part about it I explained to her prior to her, even starting my hair that my biggest fear was getting my haircut and considering how bad of a job she did it looked nothing like the picture, and it was so uneven and looked so bad. Several months have gone by and I still can't get all of my hair into one ponytail. My request was that my hair be passed my shoulders so we could go into a ponytail. I didn't get close to that and I still can't get it into a ponytail. I do not recommend this place at all the owner and his wife are not very reliable or responsible. She was so not worth the big tip my sister-in-law gave.

At my three‑week follow‑up appointment, the stylist contradicted her earlier instructions about washing and warned that she might charge me next time if my hair "did not hold," even though the stated maintenance fee was $185. Between appointments, I contacted her multiple times with concerns about slippage and attempted to send photos. My concerns were repeatedly dismissed, I was told my hair was "fine," and I was instructed to "trust the process." She refused to review the photos I tried to provide. Although she initially presented herself as open to questions, her demeanor became dismissive, rude, unreasonable, and unapproachable whenever I raised concerns. Instead of listening or offering guidance, I felt blamed and emotionally dismissed. At my six‑week appointment, I became visibly upset and was crying while trying to explain what was happening with my hair. I did not feel compassion, reassurance, or professionalism. Instead, I felt unheard and unsupported during a service I had paid significantly for. At that same appointment, I was told my hair was "messed up" and was charged $585 without prior notice, agreement, or explanation -- more than triple the stated maintenance fee. Two days later, another loctician corrected a few locks and pointed out that part of the original securing process had not been completed properly. I attempted to handle the situation respectfully and professionally, but my concerns were repeatedly minimized and never resolved.
