Tailgate Picnic is aways on my list of places to go when I am visiting home. My FAVORITE sandwich is the Harvest but they have an excellent Turkey, Cranberry and Stuffing sandwhich during the holidays. Too bad Tailgate isnt in California because I would be there every day! read more

Ate here a few times and it was very good. The outside seating is nice on a warm day. The last time we were here(about 3 weeks ago), we were about to order our food, when we observed a young woman behind the deli making sandwiches coughing a lot, she was visibly ill and was coughing all over the food she was preparing. Sick people do not belong anywhere near food preparations! We also saw a girl sweeping the floor who was called to the deli to help...she did not wash her hands and just went right to work preparing sandwiches! Very disappointed because until that day we really enjoyed stoping in for a sandwich while out doing errands. We walked out that day and won't be back! read more

The baked goods are amazing. Not sure about the lunch menu yet -- haven't tried it yet. The customer service is mediocre -- the girls working at the deli counter were not so friendly or welcoming. My husband and I bought a salad to take to a holiday party -- very good. The young lady who cashed us out was very nice and helpful. Something tells me that if this place got some better help, they'd be unstoppable. I'm sure the attitude of some of the employees is what keeps people away. read more

The food is okay. They have a very good selection. It is definitley on the expensive side. I like that they have a ton of craft beers to choose from. The deli used to be a lot better. I got a chicken wrap there a few weeks ago and was not impressed. The portions were good, but it did not have very much sauce and was kind of bland because of it. read more

I went to tailgate a got a sandwich (overpriced may I add. $8 and it was more of a snack), and while I was there the owner was yelling at her employees and it could be heard from across the store. It was pretty sad to see the owner treat her employees in the way that she did and I will never go here again because of it. Supporting a business that is abusive to its employees is shameful and it is not something that I will tolerate or support. The sandwiches are all overpriced for what you get and if you get a bag of chips and a drink it will come close to $13-$14. The breads are also all frozen then put into the oven as well. read more

This is exactly what's missing in Amherst: a classic deli experience. Can pretty much get any kind of sandwich you want or choose from their own specialty subs. Great selection of drinks and chips. We stopped in this weekend for the first time. I have to say, BEST CORN CHOWDER I've EVER had. My husband had the Lumberjack sandwich and I had a chicken sandwich. Food was FABULOUS. We stopped in for a late lunch and they had a line of people (always a good sign). We will be coming back!! SOOOO friendly and yummy! And the store has all kinds of goodies for last minute shopping! If I order a sandwich here I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it will taste the same as the first time I had it. Very cheap food. I ordered the chicken tender samich, first at bat, mushy chicken tenders, not brown or even crispy, just a frozen/bland taste. Bread is good, but the place (like the whole town of south Hadley) needs a makeover, dated and they need to hire friendlier employees. read more

Went there on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Ordered a gluten free hummus and veggie sandwich. The woman taking my order proceeded to tell me it would be difficult to make my sandwich on gluten-free bread, and that all the veggies would fall off. I suggested she toast it. She was still stand offish and skeptical. She sucks at her job. Very unfriendly staff. Disappointed that I was discouraged from ordering the only thing I COULD order. Unfortunate customer service. If you don't know how to make a sandwich maybe you should get a different job. Many other establishments have made GF sandwiches to order with no problem. Oh and she forgot to add cheese to my order and the pickle on the side I requested. read more

Pretty good food, not great service. I like the buffalo chicken sandwich and they have a good variety of drinks and snacks. Staff are generally unfriendly. Don't bother going for deli stuff if it's within 30 minutes of closing. Everything is put away and you will be completely ignored. read more

Great local business! Friendly, hard-working staff who know their products. Such a large selection of sandwiches with high-quality ingredients. Great variety in the deli selection with many homemade salads and fresh foods. I almost always grab a small container of the pesto tortellini. Plus, you can pick up a bottle of wine at the same time! Double win in my book. If you like spicy chicken tenders, try the Lumberjack sandwich. If you're more of a plain jane, take a small bold step and try The Harvest sandwich - the granny smith apples and honey mustard kick the turkey and cheese sandwich up a notch. read more

Great place if you're looking for unique takes on your typical sub. Also convenient when you don't want to head over to the grocery store, but need some milk, etc. Service is not too shabby, but the customer service could use some smiles. I recommend the Harvest, the Banker, and the Rustic Turkey. read more

A sandwich with "sliced turkey breast" apparently doesn't mean roasted turkey--sliced--like it would on any other menu. Despite the fact that every other sandwich description on their menu lists just "turkey" as an ingredient. Went there to pick up sandwiches and now can't eat, because I'm pregnant and cannot eat deli meat. Will have to now drive back to get a refund and return this inaccurately described sandwich because it might give me listeria. Sorry Tailgate but you lost my business for good. Sloppy. read more

Great place for sandwiches for lunch or dinner! Try their specials, even if they seem unorthodox, because they are always more delicious than you'd expect. They offer a variety of drinks - alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and sides. I've never been for breakfast, but I know they also offer yummy breakfast sandwiches. Highly recommended! read more

Worst food ever. Even the clam chowder soup, a Massachusetts specialty, is completely off the mark. It's a good store for stopping in to get packaged snacks if you're on the road, but the sandwiches are terrible, the coffee is bad, and the food is utterly tasteless. So most definitely avoid those. I Went there over the weekend and it was graduation weekend so I was expecting it to be really busy... wasn't nearly as busy as I thought. The reason why I am only giving it one star was because all of the sandwiches I ordered were made incorrectly and the service was not great in itself. I didn't realize about the sandwiches until I was home, but they clearly do not know what they are doing there. It is a family run business, but it does not seem to be not taken care of and run well by the family. Everyone there seemed to not care about how well they were making the sandwiches and it seemed like it was their first day. Even if the sandwiches were made correctly, there are not many reasons to return. Prices are high which a lot of other people say as well, sandwiches are very small, service isn't great, and the overall experience is plainly not worth the trouble in parking and the money. It was not the first time I have been there either and the other experiences were not great either. I wouldn't recommend going, especially if you want something that will be filling for a reasonable price. You're better off making a sandwich at your house. read more

Cute little store. Sometimes the service is terrible. I think that the owner doesn't know what goes on in the evenings. In the morning, service is good. In the evenings, you can be ignored at the counter while they are busy cleaning and getting ready to rush out the door. The positive is that they actually clean. The negative is that they are more concerned with running out the door than waiting on a customer. This happens around dinnertime as well, but tonight I had it. I was super hungry and in a hurry to grab something quick tonight. I went in at 7:50. They were cleaning (two workers), left two of us waiting at the counter. Finally at 7:55, I nicely asked, to their backs, because they pretended I wasn't there, if they could make a quick sandwich. One turned and, completely put out, not even looking at me, said, "Well....we close in like two minutes." I said, "Forget it...and walked out." The owner can thank people like her when throwing out unpurchased food. I went somewhere else and got fruit salad. I told the kid who helped me about the experience. He said he ordered a grilled cheese there once and they said they didn't make those. He had to order a tuna melt...hold the cheese. Seriously? read more

I just created a Yelp account, to write this review, to hopefully send a message to the owner of this decently okay eat-in sandwich shop / beer, wine and snacks store. Maybe you thought your customers wouldn't notice if you removed the water and cups. Most likely you figured they would cave and buy a water bottle and your business would make more money. Well I am not going to contribute to the destruction of the planet and add another dollar and change to my $8 order (just for a mediocre sandwich) buy purchasing a water bottle, or some sugar drink I don't need. This isn't helping your business it's just disappointing your customers. I shouldn't have to purchase water while I'm eating and in such a busy place, I shouldn't have to ask either. In any case, Tailgate used to offer free water, and now they do not. This had to be a conscious decision and I feel sindled. I only eat here because there aren't many options in the village commons. read more
