He was tremendous in taking time to answer our questions -- how to fix something / does it need fixing / ballpark cost -- and never seemed annoyed that we were asking so many questions. He diligently went about his business checking exterior features, observing, poking, and prodding to find soft spots in the wood and taking pictures where appropriate. We continued inside, and he was just as diligent, taking time to inspect each aspect of our new home, from air/heat/electrical/plumbing/walls/oven/lighting/windows/attic/crawlspace/etc.. He also coordinated a wood-destroying insect (termite) inspection for us, as well as providing a radon test. Throughout the process, we felt informed and comfortable, knowing Neil was very detailed in his observations. We are grateful that he took more time than we expected and did such a thorough job. His follow-up report left us with an actionable plan, along with cost estimates for all of the things he noticed. Just like the inspection itself, the report was very thorough. We confidently recommend Neil and Inspections Unlimited if you're looking to get a home inspection.

If you're buying a home and want an extremely thorough inspection, I agree that these guys will…read moreprovide one. However, based on my experience, a lot of what was included in the report felt exaggerated, and some of the estimated repair costs were nowhere close to reality. They recently inspected my home and identified multiple areas of concern that ultimately scared off a potential buyer. Afterward, I contacted multiple qualified contractors to evaluate and address those same issues. We found that many of them were relatively minor, and several contractors were genuinely surprised by the scope and estimated costs presented in the inspection report. In some cases, issues presented as potentially costing thousands of dollars ended up being fixes costing only a few hundred dollars. I completely understand that an inspector's job is to identify potential problems and protect the buyer. My issue is with how those problems were characterized. There is a big difference between pointing out an area that should be evaluated by a professional and presenting a worst-case repair scope or cost estimate that may unnecessarily alarm a buyer--especially a first-time homebuyer. The inspection also ran approximately 45 minutes beyond the three-hour window we had scheduled. That may sound minor, but when you've made arrangements to have kids and pets out of the house, it creates an unnecessary inconvenience. Overall, the inspection was unquestionably thorough. Unfortunately, in my experience, it crossed the line from thorough into overkill, with several issues appearing significantly more serious and expensive in the report than they ultimately proved to be. Based on my experience as the homeowner, I would not recommend this company, particularly to real estate agents looking for an inspector who provides a thorough but proportionate assessment of a property.

He performed a diligently detailed inspection of the 100+ year old home alongside my realtor, and called me immediately following to give me his high level thoughts. When I received the report, I was even more impressed. It grouped items into repair/replace, ongoing maintenance, and future improvements. He nicely incorporated technology to provide heat sensitive photos for the radiators and 360 degree photos of the whole home. Following, he's since entertained my husband and I's seemingly unending questions with grace and knowledge. Our realtor, who I assume sees this function all the time, noted that she is going to start referring clients to him because she was so impressed. Thank you, Joe!

Recently heard horror stories from friends about other Home Inspectors, so I went into my first home Inspection a bit skeptical. Joe who was my inspector a few days ago, made sure that I was informed about all of his findings. He didn't just point them out but also educated me on why it was a finding, how to monitor the finding, and also necessary repairs/replacements to request from the seller. After receiving my inspection reports (just a little over 24 hours after the physical inspection!) I was even more amazed by how thorough the report was. If this is your first home inspection or you just don't know what to look for, Joe and his team will make sure you do. Great service at a great price!

He offered no alternatives. He just said he can't do that in the winter time. However, there was no prior notice of that and it was included in the price for the inspection and I never would have used this company if I had known that they were not going to inspect the air-conditioning system which is a key component of an inspection of a property. I immediately wrote to the owners of this shoddy company and there were other problems as well like they never released their report, etc. I told them all the problems. The owner or two owners never bothered to respond to me despite several emails that I wrote. Nevertheless they are harassing me for money despite their fraud. I have filed a complaint against them with the Department of State.

As a first time home buyer, we had A LOT of questions/concerns in evaluating our home. Before we even stepped foot onto the property with John Moses, he acknowledged our concerns and made them a priority to investigate. John was extremely knowledgeable during the inspection overall and took time to address our areas of concern including some electrical, HVAC and structural/settling hazards. The written report providing the concluding results of the inspection was received much faster than I anticipated and was more thorough than I could have ever imagined. The report was so straightforward that it helped us negotiate a credit that was significantly higher than what the seller originally wanted to give. I would absolutely recommend High Point Home Inspection not only to fellow first time home buyers, but to ANYONE who requires a home inspection.
