We had the opportunity to work with Chris in our property. The entire process was seamless, from booking an appointment, the invoice, and the day-of procedure. Chris arrived early to capture the exterior documentation (i.e., front/back entrances, roof, facade) and greeted my partner and I with warmth and good humor. We examined each part of our future home, and Chris was very helpful with answering our questions and sharing context when weren't familiar with certain issues. It's clear he was knowledgeable and reassured us that we would be in good hands on closing day. After the inspection, you receive an in-depth report with assessments on the areas of improvement, concerns, and general status reports. I think he did a great job "looking for trouble," keeping us notified of how to be proactive should any maintenance is needed. Eagle Inspections was great to work with, and should definitely be considered in any home-buying process.

During inspection something broke, no one's fault just bad luck. They worked with us on the issue and have to compliment them on their professionalism. If we were staying in the area and had to hire a home inspector, they would be it. Highly recommend.

Details below: We hired Clerkin Home Inspectors (HouseMaster) during the process of buying our house. The inspector made an error and stated that we had a dryer vent that vented to our garage and recommended that we fix it to comply with code. This was actually the intake to the fireplace, not a dryer vent. We hired a contractor to fix this issue, and the contractor performed the work. However, at the end of the work he discovered that it was not a dryer vent. The contractor took partial responsibility for his error, as both he, the inspector, and I each bore some responsibility. However, when I called Clerkin Home Inspectors to complain about their original mistake, they refused to take any responsibility and behaved in a highly unprofessional manner. Furthermore, they attempted to gaslight me by stating that the inspector only said that the vent "appeared" to be a dryer vent, when the inspection report clearly says it is a dryer vent. I highly recommend that people find an inspection company with higher standards and more professionalism. Note that this 1-star review is not for the inspection itself as everyone makes mistakes. Based on the inspection alone, 2 or 3 stars is probably fair. However, because of their highly unprofessional behavior in responding to my complaint they get 1 star.

PJ, my inspector, did an incredible job explaining the issues and concerns regarding my 96 year old houses' balloon framing, old glass electrical insulators, and many other details that I would have otherwise never thought to question. Because of his thorough and careful inspection and the time he took to explain his thoughts, my wife and I were able to confidently close on our house. I highly recommend PJ.

Pros: Included useful photos in the report regarding where to find meter and other shutoffs. He did test appliances to ensure they were working as specified during the inspection He was timely and provided the report via email CONS: Unfortunately, Steve missed multiple repair issues (roof approaching end of life, severe wood rot in exterior areas) that were readily apparent to contractors I consulted around the time of the inspection. These repairs were quoted at 4-5 figures each based on contractor estimates. 3) caulking was missing or failing in multiple areas that are extremely prone to leaking in bathrooms. Steve failed to mention that these areas should be re-caulked ASAP. This is a cheap repair, but can cause massive damage if left ignored over time. I feel should have been pointed out since this issue does not require expertise in tiling/bathroom renovation to identify. 3) Steve did NOT use a thermal camera or moisture meter; maybe this has changed since the time of my inspection. This can present a serious issue, as expensive repairs can be missed without the use of these tools. My understanding based on hearing from other homebuyers' experiences is that good home inspectors are expected to have these tools on hand. As a result of my experience, unfortunately, I cannot recommend NPI inspection services.
