No stars!! Stay away from this place especially if you are a woman, needing to trust a mechanic. Took my car there as differential went bad. Mechanic quoted me 4000 and stated no work could start without 2700 deposit. I stated let me see what I can come up with. Called back and cancelled as did not have deposit. They then told me car was already pulled apart. Lies. Told them I want my car back, they held it hostage until I paid 723.00! Violation of car repair act. I should only have been charged diagnostic. I took my car there to get my headlight fixed and North Carolina state inspection. I knew it was a headlight issue because I replaced the bulb and it still didn't work. Joey (the owners son) quoted me what it would cost to get it fixed. I made an appointment for next week after I put a deposit down for a new headlight. When I showed up at the appointment he wasn't there but his father was and didn't know about the scheduled appointment but Joey is on his way. After half an hour he father found out about my appointment. Just to let people know don't trust Joey on what he says verbally. They charged me for the state inspection after spending $200 in their shop, my new light bulb supposedly didn't work and I was changed $25 for a new one. I wished I asked for the one I brought in for a refund at O'Reilly. So basically I was made false promises and overcharged. read more

If you need a "hometown" mechanic, this is it. The guys do a great job and the prices are reasonable. Nothing is free anymore so don't expect that. I highly recommend if you live in the 40/42 area, or if you don't, to give them a try. I have never left a bad review, but I must warn other customers. The owner of this shop is a fraud. I took my car in for an inspection, he said it needed over $500 in repairs and reported the issue to the state. I took the car for two additional opinions who found no problem, but thanks to his fraudulent report, I had to have the work done to satisfy the state. This is a DISHONEST way of forcing customers into unnecessary charges. BEWARE OF TAG AUTOMOTIVE! What a SCAM!! read more

I just want to put this out there for those looking for automotive service in the Garner NC area, do NOT go (or continue to go) to TAG Automotive -- here's why! My first experience went well In June (despite them never calling us to inform us our car was ready so we had to pick up the next day) so I recommended my parents to take their vehicle there when their truck wouldn't start. Bobby helped them out the way they needed! However, on July 28th my husband made an appointment via phone with Joe in which he told my husband to bring in the car at 9am the following day July 29, 2020, as they were booked the 28th, so they can replace something, yet at 4pm we had received a call from Bobby saying they were unable to get to our car and would do so today, July 30, 2020. Fine, we'll wait. Around 11am I call to ask for an ETA as to when the car will be ready as I needed the car back to run errands and was told by Joe they won't be able to even look at my car until the NEXT day July 31st!! Their explanation was they don't do appointments and are short handed so it's first come first serve---- SO WHY WAS MY HUSBAND TOLD TO BRING IT IN AT 9AM!?!?!? So when I say my husband said Joe made the appointment the guy on the phone says "yeah that's me" and denies doing that! My issue is if you are so backed up DONT KEEP TAKING MORE CARS!!!!! I only have 1 vehicle and you want to keep it for 3 days???? Ridiculous and as the attitude from Joe arose he said "I'll put the part in the car and you guys can just come get it", I mentioned they shouldn't make appts and keep taking cars I WAS HUNG UP ON!!!! Very poor customer service--- UPDATE: Joe/Joey just called back About 15 minutes later to apologize to my husband for being rude and getting hot headed and hanging up on me and when my husband points out I wasn't the rude one, his tone changes and starts raising his voice to my husband saying we are rude, we harassed them and called my husband a DICK! WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS DOES THIS?!?! How do you go from one min calling to apologize because you were wrong just to do the same thing again??? If you don't know how to keep your composure and provide customer service, you really shouldn't be in the industry! Never will I recommend this place nor bring them in ANY money again! They think they are better than their customers for whatever reason. Supposedly joe and Bobby (son and father) got into an argument and this is more reason why they are short staffed or why Joey has had an attitude, however idc about their daddy/son issues, that shouldn't affect your customers!!! Not to mention they Also throw the N***er word around often, Both to us and my father when he took his truck in for service, something we chose to ignore being as we just moved here from a different state and don't know how people up here are-- all I can say is the service I have received is DISGUSTING and will be sure everyone knows it! I have come here on three separate occasions, the first time simply to get a plug put in a leaking tire, which they did well enough. The other two times I had dropped a vehicle off to be looked at the first time the night before after being told on the phone that it would be troubleshot first thing in the morning. After being told that they would not be able to get to the vehicle that day I had a little bit of understanding doing maintenance for a living myself I know that a 30 minute job can turn into several hours from something as simple as a stripped bolt so things don't always go as planned, however after being told to return the following Saturday since the vehicle in question was needed to commute to work with, I experienced the same lack of service and was told that I would have to bring it back again. Why this place does not or will not schedule service is beyond me but I've wasted enough time having my vehicle sit there only to not be looked at after being told otherwise. read more

I wouldn't bring my tricycle to this place. I had my car there for a simple service. Work was done that I was not called about and I did not approve. The price of this work was well over 200.00. Then when I went to pay for the repairs, the owner could not use his charge card machine properly and would not allow me to take my car even though the charge had been taken from my back. I had a lawyer and sheriff standing by the next morning. I got my car. NEVER AGAIN! Such a rip off and deceitful business practice. read more
