I contacted Tadlock Roofing to get an estimate for the repair of a roof leak after unsuccessfully trying to schedule inspections with two other roofing companies. While I know Tadlock has a good reputation, I avoided calling them first because a) I was on a budget, and I thought they would be too expensive, and b) I thought my repair would be too small for them to consider. I was pleasantly surprised when the person in the office I spoke with on my initial call immediately scheduled an inspection for two days later, whereas the other roofing companies I had contacted always delegated that responsibility to an estimator (who never called back). The Tadlock estimator immediately identified the source of the leak and sent me a proposal the same day. The repair was performed approximately one week later, and its efficacy was tested one week after that when a tropical storm came through the area--the repair held perfectly. Overall, I had a great experience. The office staff, estimator, and technicians all displayed exemplary customer service. But I'm docking one star for the high (but not outrageous) cost of the repair, even though I expected it beforehand as I mentioned above. read more

I am very frustrated with Tadlock. The first appointment was 4/2 at 9 am, with Josh. he measured for arch shingles and metal. He walked the roof. He said he didn't feel anything spongey. he said he had already emailed my estimate, but he had no service, so I should get it when he had service again. I didn't get it, so I tried to call. speaking to anyone at their office is difficult, and even when you get someone they don't know anything, can't find paperwork, there doesn't seem to be a chain of events. I had to go into the office to sign papers on day 6 to finally get the paperwork signed. on 4/26 Josh told me there had been a problem with the pattern the manufacturer sent them, and they were having to redo it. it would be in by May 1st, and I would be scheduled in three to four weeks, putting us at the end of May. May came and went. I called to check progress. waiting for some trim and an installer, since they had fired their only crew, and were getting help from Jacksonville. Josh said I was scheduled for Monday June 17th. I called today to see when they were delivering my materials. I was told by Thomas that they would not be installing Monday, I was not on the schedule, and he wouldn't have a date for me until the "first of next week". I am really disappointed in Tadlock. The owner is cousin to one of my friends. Hindsight is 20/20! I would not choose them again. read more

We just had our roof reshingled through an insurance claim and Tadlock did a fantastic job! From the very beginning, when dates were set, etc., to the end of the project, they were on schedule, and kept us informed of everything they were doing. Everyone was friendly and very professional. When I had my house painted , the painter found wood rot under the eaves of the back screened in porch. I called Tadlock, who had installed the Duralite roof years ago. They came right out to inspect and saw the seal around perimeter needed replacing, and the material needed to be special ordered. After two weeks, A crew came back, replaced the seal around the perimeter and adjusted some metal flashing and removed and replaced the wood under the eave. The crew was efficient and professional and the price was reasonable. I am happy with the work and recommend Tadlock for any roof installation or repair. read more

This company has no integrity!! We were looking for a roofing company to replace the roof on our home. After unsuccessfully requesting a few quotes, we were able to get one from Tadlock roofing along with a guarantee that they would be able to assist us with our insurance claim. After a long process with the insurance company, we remained loyal to Tadlock though their prices were way more expensive than others. We waited several weeks to get on their schedule and were happy when the time finally came for the roof to be replaced. The crew showed up and barely communicated. I'm not sure if it was due to a language barrier or not. My next concern came when a truck came out to lift the supplies to the roof. We had an agreement that we would pay additional costs for them to manually load the supplies onto the roof. This was to ensure that they would not damage any plumbing in the yard due to the heavy truck. They parked their heavy truck on the lawn anyway. From there it appeared to be a rush job from the go. The crew was pushed to work even while it rained and thundered. They left without finishing the first day, no big deal, but then showed up at 6am the next morning without warning and started pounding nails in. If I didn't have neighbors or a small child, this wouldn't have bothered me. They rushed through and hurried to the next job, I'm sure. Unfortunately they left us with a yard full of debris and a nail in our AC line. Yet again, nothing was communicated to us. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't hear the sound of air pressure releasing when they struck the pipe. Not long after they left our home, it seemed a bit warmer than what it should have been. Upon investigating I found that our unit wasn't blowing cold air. We contacted an AC repairman, who promptly found and explained the roofers had put a nail through the pipe and that it would have to be completely rerun. No big deal, right! Well, the AC repair company couldn't get the proper personnel out for 3 days! When we reported the issue to Tadlock, we were told that we were responsible and that they couldn't (or wouldn't) do anything to assist. Long story short, Tadlock left a mother with a small child sitting without AC in 100-degree weather and offered no apologies. They even went so far as to say it was the AC companies' fault. It was everybody's fault except the guy that actually put the nail through the copper pipe. Needless to say, we will not be recommending Tadlock roofing and we will share our story with everyone we can. read more

Tadlock staff were professional and explained exactly what needed to be done. It took less than 3 weeks to get a date to start the job on my metal roof, but in fairness I am out in the middle of nowhere and 2.5 hrs from their shop. They sent 2 workers who did fast excellent work and roof was fixed same day! They even cleaned my skylights! I'm very happy with the service and job. Anyone looking for roof and gutter work might want to read this review. I hired Tadlock to replace my roof and gutters because they did both projects.  Well, the roofing work was done and there were no problems and I would say they did a good job. Can't say the same for the gutter work. First, after several delays such as material was not delivered, truck had mechanical issues and another time there was a hurricane off the gulf coast .  It took weeks to reschedule an appointment.   Let's fast forward to the final day, I was out of town had but my 20 yr old son was at home. After installing the gutters the installer managed to roll off my roof pulling down 17 feet of newly installed gutters.  Ok, now it gets really crazy. The installer had locked his keys inside the back of the truck. He went through my garage looking for a saw or crowbar which I didn't have.  So he talks my son into driving him to Walmart where he proceeds to buy a saw that's used to cut wood.  NO LIE. When the installer returns to my house he starts to cut a hole into the top of his truck. Asks my son to use his cellphone flashlight so he could rummage in the truck looking for a set of keys. I wish I had been at home to watch the whole thing go down. The installer never offered my son any money for his time and gas driving him around. But here's the real kicker I paid $3,000 for this less than quality workmanship. I asked for  discount and was told he was being generous to give me 5%.  He also said to me quote: "If you were to reach out to the owner of the company he would laugh at your story and take your 5% discount away." Well, I hope he's laughing now at the memorable experiences I have had. I would proceed with caution about this company unless you want to grab some popcorn and watch some crazy things. read more

We went with Tadlock Roofing because of the National Reviews and Hector Marin. They kept their word and even answered every question I asked. We went with the lifetime warranty both shingle and workmanship. I checked everyday to make sure all was done correctly and it was. They do go out of their way to make sure everything is clean and nothing out of the ordinary. There were only a couple of mis-steps but in the roofing business is was unforeseen and they took care of it. Very impressive in today's construction world. The job is beautiful and my neighbors were impressed also. They even corrected the attic venting on the ridge vents. Highly recommend them! read more

When the quote was initially presented, the additional cost for a sheet of plywood was requested as the quote only reflects a square foot cost for decking. No direct cost for a sheet of plywood was given as had been provided on previous estimates. The other estimates we received mark clear costs for full sheets for $85 and $100 respectively. Our estimate from Tadlock Roofing ambiguously states "decking, which is to be priced at $4 per sq. ft or linear ft," ultimately leading to a cost of $128 per full sheet of plywood. Due to this ambiguity whether plywood is based on a linear foot measure or square foot (with a standard plywood sheet being 4' x8'), the cost of a sheet of plywood was more than all of our other estimates. At the beginning of the process, roofing materials were left on screen roof of our screened room. This increased the risk of damage to the aluminum structure as well as increased the risk of the screen tearing. More debris fell through onto the patio and into the pool. Picture dated 22FEB 1003 Initially we had asked for the dumpster to be placed in the street, but there were concerns that this may not be allowed through the home owners association. The roofers asked if it could be left in the driveway which would also allow the roofers to throw materials directly into the dumpster. We all agreed and the dumpster was dropped off in the driveway. The work was completed on 23FEB around midday, but the dumpster remained. We were told verbally that the dumpster would be picked up the next day, 24FEB, but it was never removed. No communication existed until we asked when the dumpster would be removed on 25FEB. The response was provided at 0916 on 25FEB, that the dumpster would be removed that day in about an hour. Approximately 3 hours passed, but the dumpster was removed midday 25FEB On 23FEB, we were running errands while the roofers continued work. When we returned home from the grocery store mid-morning on 23FEB carrying groceries into the house, one contractor threw shingles off the roof hitting one home owner in the arm. Later in the day, around noon on 23FEB, one homeowner went outside to retrieve a delivered package and had gravel from the roof pushed onto them, ultimately having a small piece of gravel in their eye, removed at home with flushing with no long-term consequences. At the end of the roofing process, there were large amounts of debris left on the back left corner of the house. This included shingles, aluminum, nails, tools, and other construction material. This was after all of their equipment, except the dumpster, was removed from the property on 23FEB. No one returned to the house between 23-25 FEB to clean up the debris. Pictures were taken and provided to Tadlock at 0901 25FEB. Tadlock sent out 2 people later that afternoon to clean up the remaining debris. Of note, the contract states in #8: Do you acknowledge that Tadlock Roofing is not responsible for any AC, water, gas, and/or utility lines in the attic that have been run close to the decking? This was not present in any of the other contracts presented to us from other businesses. Upon returning from a 12-hour shift at work on 22FEB, our Nest thermostat indicated that it had been unable to adequately cool the house over 10.5 hours. The homeowners assumed this was due to increased heat outside and a lack of roofing for the replacement during the day leading to more heat trapped in the house. The heat continued to build through the next several days and ultimately a local HVAC company was called to assess. Upon evaluation, they deemed the A/C had lost all of it's refrigerant due to a roofing nail striking the copper line carrying the refrigerant in the attic space. Upon noticing the house was not cooling off appropriately after the roof was installed, our regular HVAC company was contacted to evaluate the problem. They initially determined there was no refrigerant in the system. After seeing the roofing permit, they went into our attic and noticed a nail through the copper line that holds the refrigerant for the A/C system. Their invoice specifically denotes "level 3 repair, replace 8-foot section of copper line where a nail from the new roofing that was done hit the copper line. All the freon was loss." A video of hissing from the line was sent to Tadlock roofing supervisors at 1723 on Friday 25FEB. They indicated they would touch base on Monday 28FEB, the date the repair was supposed to be completed by the HVAC company. Upon completion, a copy of the invoice was sent to Tadlock supervisors at 1442 Monday 28FEB with a response from their team that they would get with their boss. Received a phone call noting that Tadlock is not responsible for HVAC problems after roof install and that this was agreed upon in their contract. No written response was provided. We were informed that there would be further discussion to determine if any assistance would be provided. No additional phone calls or messages were received. We con read more

Can't recommend. Tadlock installed a traditional shingle roof on my main house and replaced the flat roof on the attached apartment. To be fair, the shingle roof is fine. It's a different story with the $6K flat roof. I was told the only maintenance required would be to repaint the reflective top coat every 10 years. In fact, in less than 10 years I've had two substantial leaks. Most recently the rep stated that the material installed should not have been used on my roof, but upon learning that they did the installation and it was warranted by them, all Tadlock will do is patch the leaks with the same material. Now they won't even respond to my emails and it's inevitable that the roof will leak again. So to sum up, I spent about $6,000 (roughly $6 per square foot) on a roof that now needs to be replaced after only 10 years. UPDATE: The flat roof has now been repaired. Be careful with this company. I called TR because I knew of the owner from years back. The salesman came to house -- looked at the job and gave me a price of $2000 to install skylights. John, the salesperson was insistent and anxious for me to sign their contract before scheduling installation. His big pitch was the integrity of Dale Tadlock and how honest he was. I waited 3 weeks for the appointed day - nothing happened -- I made 3 phone calls-- trying to figure out what was happening. 2 days later I get a phone call from a person speaking broken English -- this man stated he was at my house to install skylights --but he couldn't install skylights because there were no holes cut in each the roof . I called TR office and thereafter came a series of calls and apparent confusion, then the putt-off. Finally, the next day, John the salesman text me (guess he didn't have guts to call) to say that he just found out that TR no longer cuts holes in roofs to install skylight. And, that I needed to find another company to cut the holes and TR would come and install skylights. Is that not the most ignorant policy?? I stated that I expected TR to honor there contract. The Salesman said "no" they would not - and that the owner - Dale Tadlock, would call me. Never happened- now two weeks later. Guess Dale didn't have the guts to call either. So much for integrity and honor. Guess this integrity only works when it's profitable for Dale Tadlock Roofing. read more

Excellent response to my inquiry for a roof repair. The Sales Consultant (John Hinds) was on time for the appointment, documented everything that was going to be repaired and included a video of the areas to be repaired. The quote was return to me in a timely manner and was very reasonably priced. The repair got delayed due to weather but they contacted me and rescheduled. The crew contacted me by phone 30 minutes before they arrived. All repairs were made to the roof but there was 1 issue I had with the color they used to patch the roof. I contacted John Hinds that night around 6:00 and left a message to let him know I was concerned about the color of the patch. He contacted me about 30 minutes later and assured me that he would get the issue corrected. The next day John came by the house and resolved the issue personally and the roof looks great. John was outstanding and went out of his way to make sure the job was done correctly and to my satisfaction. I will not be using Tadlock in the future and would not recommend this company to friends/family. They said Wind Mitigation Inspection was included, it wasn't. They shared with me shingle colors that months later revealed were not even available for my area. They gave little notice that they'd be coming out to begin the roofing project when I hadn't even selected a new shingle color. One of the solar companies they recommended had a BBB F-rating. They marked the job "complete" and didn't invite me to look at the final result first. Several shingles weren't resting properly and they thew out my gutter guards without permission. The workers leaned their ladder against my archway entrance and dented the metal. They did not release the terms and conditions of their extended warranty plan before asking me to pay for it. Final invoice did not include a comprehensive breakdown of services/features purchased. Invoice properly itemized after complaint. After extensive complaining and threatening to cancel the job all together, they offered a discount and included the Wind Mitigation Inspection. Weeks later they replaced the missing gutter guards (again, shoddy install) and corrected the faulty shingles. It's a shame the somewhat-satisfactory roofing result only came after significant aggravation. read more

I bought a home recently that Tadlock Roofing had put the new roof on the house and porch plus a solar attic vent at the end of 2010 for the previous owner. Because I could never hear the solar vent running and because I was totally unfamiliar with the 'rubber looking' porch roof material and because I also thought the porch may be leaking I called the company to see if someone could come check these things out. Within days I had a call from Mark Uanino to come see the situation. We met, after my working hours I might add, and he was a most pleasant and knowledgeable person. He took his time examining every aspect of my concerns, explaining different things as he went. By the time he left, which I'm sure was much later than he would of liked but it never showed in his calm demeanor, I was reassured that the solar fan was indeed working and the roofing material was even better than expected and the leak spots were old and of no consequence. It was an confidence builder for me in that I now know I have a very good roof in all respects and can proceed with any other improvements on the porch I may wish without further worry in that regard. I hope you commend him on his customer service because he truly deserves being recognized. I've heard of Tadlock Roofing for years and wouldn't hesitate to recommend you in the future if asked. Shingle roof turned out satisfactorily. Although they had to come back to realign skylights - which is done quite easily from atop the roof system with a tape measure the first time. 2) family members received roofing nails punctured into our feet 3) times since completion, among the almost 100) nails I have found on my roof , in my yard , stuck in fascia trim or in my car tire..They damaged one metal panel on my awning on accident. Took them 2 Two+ weeks to come out with a replacement ( awning left open to the elements while waiting ), they then damaged the replacement. Two weeks later they come out and fix the replacements but destroyed the flashing and essentially placed exposed screws wherever they had to overcome the monstrosity. Of course it looked horrible from underneath and it leaks. Workmanship was very poor on the metal panels...broken off screw head and stripped screws as well.. I have installed miles of metal roofing and can honestly say I have never seen so many mistakes made on 2) 6'-0" long panels in my life.. Unknown to me , the replacement panel was a different gauge/thickness then the existing panels. When I went on the panels to blow out the gutters ( done dozens of times in the past ) it buckled and became damaged too. 1+ weeks later they came out and dropped 12) replacement panels for the entire awning. Literally - placed them in my driveway and told me they were at my house. 1) of the 12) was damaged from their transporting in the back of their work truck. So , I do not have enough panels to change my entire awning to try and fix / match the mess they started. I will be re-sheeting my awning the right way. WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I would NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!! The crew was all Mexican and didn't speak a word of English. They kept parking their truck on my lawn which made big indentations in my lawn. They also drove over the water meter and cracked the cement cover and had to have a new meter installed. They dumped a load of leaves and branches from the roof onto my garden which I had just put all new mulch in. UGH! They took off the drip edge, which was not supposed to be replaced and then I caught them taking the shingles off my carport, which was not part of what I was having done. Tadlock did not handle any of these issues to my satisfaction. I had to pay for the shingles to be replaced on the carport or they would have put mismatch shingle on. The final bill was almost $1000 more than they quoted me. read more

Had them put on my new roof 10 years ago and all went fine like you would expect for $10,000. Every few years the dryer, which vents through the roof, would take to long to dry though. I bought a $40 brush kit that hooks to a drill to clean out the pipe all the way to the roof vent that Tadlock installed. First time it improved the drying, the last couple times not so much. I climbed on the roof to look at the installed vent and discovered there was a black mesh around the exit holes inside the vent. This mesh is catching the lint and blocking the vent. Curiously there's a second vent going to the kitchen exhaust fan that doesn't have any mesh in it. They put the vents in the wrong positions. I figured they made a mistake and would come remove the black mesh so my dryer would dry properly. I told the sales rep from Tadlock about this and he came out to look at it. He walked around the roof and gave me a ballpark figure of $500 to repair their mistake! I figured they'd work with me so I told him I'd pay for shingles they might need if they'd supply the labor to remove the mesh. Never heard back. Moral is to inspect your roof mounted dryer vents after they replace your roof because when your dryer stops drying you're going to be well out of the warranty period. read more

I currently live in North Carolina and own a home in Tallahassee Florida. I have tenants in this property and when they informed me there was a leak in the roof I called Tadlock the next day. They sent a technician out immediately and I had repair quote in less than 5 days. Judging by the cost of repairs and age of the roof I also decided to get a full replacement quote as well. Both quotes were done free of charge and were completed in a timely manner. I chose to go with replacing the roof and the staff in every aspect was extremely helpful. They were able to answer any of my questions any time I called and were able to reschedule my roof replacement around my tenants due date for her newborn child. They also put a temporary patch over the leak free of charge as well. The whole replacement was completed in two days. I felt that every time I talked with any of their employees that they actually cared about the well being of the family and my level of satisfaction. I suspect that Tadlock has been coasting in recent years on an earlier good reputation. My experience with them was disastrous, and I fired them as a contractor before they even began. My particular project was out of the ordinary, and the quote they gave me was 1.) WAY underpriced for what the job was eventually going to cost (almost a 'bait and switch' situation), and 2.) utterly inadequate as to required job materials. The job required coordination with another sub-contractor, who did show up on the start date ready to go with his crew, and received a call from Tadlock THAT MORNING that they weren't going to show, so he and his guys lost a half-day of work (and I still don't know if Tadlock has reimbursed them). The basic problem was this: my job required a special commercial team to do the installation, but they were not brought in to do the estimating and job prep up front, and I didn't realize that Tadlock had not used the right people to do the estimating. Two days before the start date, they showed up to do last-minute job assessment, and realized at that point that they didn't have what they needed to do the job. They did not tell either me or the sub-contractor they would be working with about the problem, and left both of us hanging. I heard through sources that if I had kept them on the job, it would probably have taken them another 2-3 weeks to procure what they needed, AND it probably would have ended up costing more than other estimators had quoted. I am now signed up to use another roofer, and will never use Tadlock for anything. They may be fine for a plain old standard roof, but almost everything they told me up front about what they could do for me turned out to be untrue from the get-go. read more

Tadlock would not respond to working things out with us and now trying to sue us after we tried numerous attempts to work with them. Consumer beware of this roofer we strongly do not recommend them based on overcharging us, how they run their business, and very poor treatment of the consumer. Use them at your own risk. We had a new done by Tadlock about two years ago. We received an estimate in a timely manner. The work was scheduled and completed on time. The ventelation of the roof was improved to ridge system. We are planning on have our double wide mobile home leveled this year, and Tadlock had offered to come out and check the roof. read more
