    Spicy Tuna Bowl
    Madison P.

SOOO good. This was my first poke bowl and now I think I have an obsession. The tuna was SO fresh and the pineapple paired so well with it, I never thought I would've liked that combination as much as I do now. The spicy mayo and jalapeños added the perfect flavor on top of everything. Just wow. It was a lot of food but it was so good I couldn't leave anything to waste. I will definitely be coming back here when i'm back in state college.

    Katsudon curry

There's a great menu, and the vibe is nice, and the flavors were good, but there were two flaws for me: I ordered the katsudon curry, which is supposed to be a tonkatsu on rice with curry on the side (same bowl usually) that you dip the tonkatsu into. But they put the tonkatsu down in the side of the bowl and cover it with the curry. The result was that the tonkatus was soggy and had no crunch left. Also, there was a huge amount of rice but not enough curry. (in the attached photo, it looks like there's a lot of curry, but most of that volume was the tonkatsu filling up the space.) My suggestion then, for the restaurant, if they're reading this-- put the meat on top of the rice so it stays dry, increase the curry volume by at least 25%, and reduce the rice volume somewhat.

This location is the "newer" one located on Atherton. It primarily serves sushi and udon dishes and is slightly larger than the original location on College Ave. That being said it still maintains that charming wooden interior resembling a Japanese sushi bar. Interior is bright and staff are pleasant and friendly. Make sure you have your entire party together, they wont seat incomplete parties due to space. Best for parties of 2-4 but you could get away with 6. Any more and they'll need to seat you at different tables. I've had mostly sushi at this location and its on par with most sushi I've had. Prices are a little steep but its State College and everything is a bit more expensive up here and the portions are slightly larger to make up the difference. Your best deal with the lunch special Mon-Fri 11AM-3PM with 2 rolls for $12.95 or 3 rolls for $14.95. Its a nice selection of basic rolls served with soup and salad. The pork bun appetizers are amazing as well. On the down side again it is pricier than other places I've been and they're always out of the takoyaki I like so I wish they would pull it off the menu. Other than that a solid 4 and we'll be back to hopefully enjoy the lunch menu again.

    Chicken Katsu Curry Don

I could write poems about their chicken katsu curry, it's that good! Their sushi is fresh and flavorful as well. The restaurant has limited seating and is usually quite busy, so you might feel a bit rushed to finish your meal. Seating is also quite close together, which can make it feel a little cramped. However, the food makes up for it!

A nicer setting than the 1st Tadashi. This place gets crowded so expect a little wait time. We enjoyed the noodle soup and rice bowls. The sushi rolls were not bad as well. We'll be back to try the other items on the menu.

Had the tuna avocado and the pepper tuna rolls, fantastic. Had a few starters and they were delish. A little slow on the Poke Roll for our guest, but it was delicious. Great service, Thank You.

There were three places I wanted to make sure I got to eat at when I made the trip back to State College - Tadashi was the second on the list. So, this is the newer of the two locations. The last time I was there, the older location was the sushi place while the newer location (this one) was the ramen and udon (I think). I just learned that the older location now serves only ramen/udon (I think). And the newer location (this one) serves sushi. SO if you want sushi, come to this one (corner of College and N. Atherton). Now that that's out of the way, I was super hungry, borderline hangry, and suuuuuper excited to eat some of Tadashi's decadent sushi. Keep in mind, I know that State College isn't notorious for having the best customer service in most of the restaurants, so I never have high expectations. We entered, there was one girl behind the counter who was talking to another customer. Another customer was standing to our right but back, like he was waiting for someone or something. A group of like 8 comes in and completely bombards the front, showing no regard for our group or the entire process of waiting patiently. They start heading to seat themselves forcing the girl behind the counter to stop dealing with the customer she was dealing with to tell them they had to wait. Needless to say, that entire unpleasant encounter was not really handled appropriately as it resulted in us almost deciding it might not be worth it. They were packed, it was move-in weekend. Parking was available in the garages but forget about street parking and even driving downtown in a timely fashion. That part was a mess, as expected for that weekend. BUT, we made it, got seats right at the counter, service was quick and the sushi made it all worth it. They will likely always be in my top 5 there.

The food here is always great, sometimes the service is a little slow especially the sushi but the udon and other hot dishes come out really fast. The curry udon is my personal favorite

This place is amazing! The atmosphere feels like an actual dining hall and the food is legit. I went in for the first time with my boyfriend who loves sushi this weekend and I was so skeptical at first. I've never been someone who liked sushi, raw fish always irked me. But I wanted to try something new! The anger dragon roll was so delicious. I chose it because it has steak on top so I figured it was like cheating since I was nervous about raw fish. I would order it again and again! It does come out on fire but that's a fun novelty. He had the Miami roll and it was also delicious, I ended up eating about half of his. Overall, this place converted me to a sushi lover! Can't wait to come back and try more!

Honestly really don't get what the hype is except that it's one of the only sushi places right at the edge of campus. I have had way better sushi elsewhere that is not only tastier but cheaper and includes sides/larger portions. Have had multiple items on their menu... Spent $14 on a bowl and was still hungry after. And the specialty rolls are $15.. which if it was delicious I have no issue paying but I think was mediocre. (I must say that their standard roll prices are fine in the $5-7 range) Not only was the food average but the service was really not great either. Do not know if I would return

    Ask the Community - Tadashi

Is it good for large groups?

Its a larger location than their College Ave one but still on the smaller side. I'd keep groups to 4-6 just for comfort.

Is this location allowing dine-in customers?

Yes, dine in is now available as of last I was there in December 2023

Can you order ahead and pick up?

Yes you can call ahead and they'll quote you a time to come in and pick it up. Usually between 10-20 min but varies on how busy they are

Very impressed with the variety at this international market. Many times stores claim to be…read more"international" but only really supply items for one culture with the exception of two or three products. That's not so with this International Market in State College! They had a plethora of Mediterranean, South American, Asian, and European products. Another great thing is it is somewhat organized by region, so you don't find random things next to each other. The store is located in an old house so you go from room to room while shopping. It can feel a little bit cramped but I was surprised by the amount of products they sell. There are lots of refrigerator and freezer goods too. The prices seem high for American groceries but as far as I can tell they are typical for an international market. I'd suggest reading other reviews and checking expiration dates. I'm new in town and have only been once but I understand they may not have high turnover for some products that may end up past their expiration. Just use your brain. Not sure if they take cards- I always assume there's a card minimum or that they don't take card so keep cash on hand. The only disappointing thing was their fresh produce. It was the size of a cocktail table and had about 6 items total. I'm sure there are other shops in town with better produce selection but as far as cultural variety, I'd say this International Market takes the cake.

It is one of the few places you can find several varieties of dates, and they are in tune with religious holidays and will often have foods especially for those. It is a pretty small space so it can be tough to find what you are looking for, but the workers are all very nice and willing to help!
